Family mealtimes can be one of the best parts of the day... or one of the most chaotic. From juggling busy evenings and different appetites to encouraging children to try new flavours, it's something many parents are navigating every day.

If you've ever wondered how to make family meals feel a little less stressful, now's your chance to ask someone who's built a career around bringing people together over food.

Saiphin Moore, the founder of Rosa's Thai, is here to answer Mumsnetter’s questions on everything from encouraging adventurous eaters and introducing new flavours, to cooking quick midweek meals, getting children involved in the kitchen and creating enjoyable family mealtimes.

About Saiphin:
One of the UK's most-loved Thai chefs, Saiphin Moore is the co-founder of Rosa's Thai. She grew up on a vegetable farm in the mountains of Khao Kho, northern Thailand, learning to cook alongside her mother and aunts and opening her first noodle shop aged just 14. That love of good food now lives on through Rosa's Thai and Lao Café. Mum, entrepreneur and author of two cookbooks, Saiphin stays true to the family-inspired flavours that started it all.

Everyone who posts a question on this thread by 3/9/26 will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Rosa's Thai voucher (T&Cs).

My Husband and Son love spicy foods, my Daughter and I don't. How do I make a meal and modify the spice?

Secretriver · 13/08/2026 15:53

We love spicy meals but getting lots of ingredients out after work is exhausting. What are your go to recipes for either (a) a spicy hit but without lots of ingredients or prep or (b) meal prep/last for a few days/freeze etc type recipes? Thank you!

fatphalange · 13/08/2026 15:56

What is your absolute favourite dish to serve to loved ones which is a good all-rounder? Thank you

Gingerkittykat · 13/08/2026 16:00

Have you got any dishes that you recommend for a quick mid week meal?

chickenpotnoodle · 15/08/2026 12:14

What are your favourite quick Thai inspired meals for busy weeknights that introduce children to new flavours without making the food too spicy?

PeasePuddingPottage · 15/08/2026 12:26

I love pad kra pow. Can you suggest a meat form other than mince for a change. Also how to perfect the crispy triple cooked pork!!!

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 15/08/2026 12:33

Quickest, cheapest, healthiest family meal suggestion please! I have 20 mins to cook on a Wednesday so often resort to frozen pizza but there must be a better option! A quick Thai dish? Thank you.

MayCottage · 16/08/2026 08:54

We love spice - How do you encourage children who are quite set in their food preferences to try new flavours without turning mealtimes into a battle, and are there any mild Thai dishes you’d recommend as a good starting point?

bubbletealoverr · 17/08/2026 14:48

I'd love to know how to cook the perfect rice - without a rice cooker ideally. I absolutely love rice but I'm terrible at cooking it.

bubbletealoverr · 17/08/2026 14:50

Also stir fries - my family loves them as they're quick and healthy, but I find it tricky to cook all the different elements properly. Something always ends up burnt / overcooked, with other veggies overcooked. What's the trick?

Which dishes are the most popular with young children at your restaurants? What is at about these dishes that you believe appeals to this age group?

Giftspread · 17/08/2026 15:40

What is a good vegetarian dish that doesn't include tofu?

You can get simple rice cookers that are essentially pots you put rice and water in and put in the microwave... I don't know why I'm so useless without it, but I am... it's solved all my rice problems!

Oh that's good to know - I'll do a little research. Thanks for the tip!

squidgem · 17/08/2026 16:43

For someone who isn't a good cook, what is the easiest Thai meal to make?

SunwaysSystems · 17/08/2026 17:38

I would also be interested in more veggie-forward recipes and ones without too much spice.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 17/08/2026 18:08

What’s your secret for the perfect pad Thai? What other noodle dishes do you recommend for kids (my son doesn’t like rice)
thank you

PeasePuddingPottage · 17/08/2026 21:41

@bubbletealoverri got the Joseph and Joseph one microwave rice cooker. You have to tweak it a bit bits its very good. And you can pop it in the dishwasher!

What’s the one Thai dish you could eat forever, and why

TealPombear · Yesterday 10:52

Are there any dishes you would recommend trying to make at home?

I can whip up a pad thai but I always love the red thai curry and drunken noodles at Rosa's but not sure the kids would like it.

They always try mine and love spicy food!

Hearters22 · Yesterday 11:13

When you’re cooking Thai food, how do you balance sweet, sour, salty, spicy and umami flavours without one overpowering the others?

Thanks for the tip - I'm definitely going to check that one out - I really fancy some stir fried rice for dinner tonight actually!
