My son gets eczema on his thighs, hips and bottom and I was wondering if wearing shorts all the time whilst at home may help?

jacqui5366 · 10/03/2019 11:45

I had a terrible dose of Guttate psoriasis after a throat infection, and as I am prone to these, would this lessen my symptoms ?

rillette · 10/03/2019 17:31

Is eczema linked to keratosis pilaris? DD goes through stages of showing signs of both.

ColdCrumpetsandButter · 10/03/2019 18:13

What can I do to minimise the itch for my children?

ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 10/03/2019 18:32

My son has severe atopic eczema on his face to the stage it weeps and looks like burns. We've only just been referred to a dermatologist and his skin cleared within a week! Now it's creeping back again 2 months later and is so sore.

We have to do allergy blood tests still, but with it being as severe as it is, is it likely he will grow out of it? He's only young and I worry about him having a scarred face.

claza93 · 10/03/2019 22:45

I tend to not wash my baby that often as I find bathing him dries out his skin even more. What would you recommend with regards to bathing and how often?

duffed · 11/03/2019 10:45

I think I read that your products can be used daily - Is it advisable to wash eczema prone skin daily? My gp told me that only once a week is best and I've kept that going with my 7 year old as best I can. Do you advise differently?

yongnian · 11/03/2019 11:11

Would LRP lipikar range also be good for seborrhoeic dermatitis or facial eczema?

queenoftheschoolrun · 11/03/2019 12:56

How does sun affect eczema? If it doesn't cause a flare up is it better to go without suncream whilst avoiding too much exposure.

needsleepzzz · 11/03/2019 14:09

Can taking an anti histamine help? My daughters back and stomach are very fry and her inner elbow is red raw :-(
I am using childs farm moisturiser which is helping a lot but not eradicating it

My DD gets a really dry scalp, what's the best thing to wash her hair with?

Anj123 · 11/03/2019 22:05

My daughter has had eczema for several years and at one point was referred to a specialist. She has it under control with Dermol, Epaderm, different steroid creams and occasionally we have to apply paste bandages. She is now a teenager and although it isn’t as bad as it used to be, she still gets flare ups and currently has infected patches of eczema on her knuckles. Do you think she will grow out of this eventually? I am hoping she won’t have eczema once she’s an adult.

Leeannextx · 12/03/2019 18:24

My 5 year old son suffers badly form dry itchy skin, he gets lots of little bumps all over his back. It becomes so itch that he drags himself up and down a wall and gets hurt! We’ve tried eveything the doctor will prescribe and most night I have to rub his back constantly till he falls asleep and during the night when he wakes up, my partner has been sleeping on the couch now for years as he works early in the morning and being up all night, he becomes to tired for his driving job. Is there anything you can recommend me to help sooth this? I am sick and tired of constant go appointments and nothing helps him :(

Summergarden · 12/03/2019 20:56

When my child was first diagnosed with eczema, the GP advised us to avoid bathing her too much, twice a week was plenty.

She still has mild eczema and am wary of increasing the bathing frequency too much in case her eczema worsens. Is there anything we can do to reduce the risk? We live in a hard water area and are considering a water softener.

purplepandas · 12/03/2019 21:47

What aggravates eczema in young children? What's best to avoid for this reason?

ogidni · 13/03/2019 14:36

My son's eczema responds well to a product for a while and then it seems as though the product stops working. Is there some reason why some products seem to work for a short time but then the problem comes back even with continued use of the product?

chillychicken · 13/03/2019 21:45

My 4yr olds eczema is exceptionally bad when using suncream or when he’s nervous, so we try not to bath him more than twice a week which does help a bit, however he suffered with bad cradle cap as a baby and it’s never really gone away, it’s a dry, flaky scalp now but it doesn’t bother him. I read that regular hair washing would help - is that true? Why does regularly washing the scalp help but advice is to not bath too often for dry skin conditions?

Julestar · 13/03/2019 22:15

Bathing my daughter definitely makes her eczema worse, but I worry about other problems arising from not bathing her as frequently as I would like. It feels like a careful balance - what would you advise?

Cismyfatarse1 · 13/03/2019 22:27

What is the best way to deal with eczema on the face? Thanks.

user1498912461 · 14/03/2019 13:46

What products are best to use in the bath?

UndercoverAthiest · 14/03/2019 15:21

Should I limit the amount of swimming my son does as it always seems to trigger his eczema?

Marmite83 · 14/03/2019 15:36

Is there anything we can do to reduce the impact of eczema on my daughter as she gets older? She's had eczema pretty much since the day she was born. My husband has had eczema his whole life and we're worried that she won't grow out of it either. Is there anything we can do to increase her chance of growing out of it?

Byrdie · 15/03/2019 10:12

My daughter is 11 and had flare ups over the years. She's now asking about shaving her legs : using hair removal creams for under her arms. I'm worried it may aggravate it? We've done a test patch but she usually doesn't get it on these areas anyway - hands and trunk are usually where her flare ups happen. Any research done on how best to handle hair removal? I've told her it's entirely up to her when / if she wants to remove the hair in her legs and underarms. She's not at the stage where she is embarrassed about other areas (on a side note, i'm pretty gutted that she feels she has to remove the hair at age 11 anyhow, but that's another discussion)

RagnarorBjorn · 15/03/2019 11:15

My 7yr old daughter suffers with mild eczema on legs, arms and sometimes face.
Her face flares up when she is unwell, but how can I work out what triggers her arms and leg? Also she says all the creams we try sting when we apply them, is there a product that doesn't?

callmecrazybut · 15/03/2019 21:20

Can you get 'one off' incidences of eczema or is it something you either have or you don't?
