Would you recommend natural family planning?

How can women over 40 increase their chances of a viable pregnancy?

itsalwaystimefortea · 24/01/2018 13:57

Can I have a reasonably regular period (35-42 day cycle) and not be ovulating?

Also I'm 39 and just referred by my GP on an urgent referral for fertility investigation but the waiting time is 7-10 months. What steps do you need to take to go for a private consultation?

DoneAdulting · 24/01/2018 17:23

My husband and I have been suffering from secondary fertility for almost 3 years. I'm underweight and always have been, I just can't put in weight no matter how hard I try. Someone has told me to have my thyroid checked. Why would this have a bearing on my weight and fertility?

Sleepysausage · 24/01/2018 17:43

I occasionally have a large glass of wine (maybe 2 glasses/week) will this have an impact on my fertility?

NewMama12 · 24/01/2018 20:02

We had our DD after IVF last June after 2.5 years TTC - the only explanation they could give for our infertility was that I have mild to moderate endometriosis. I’ve been breastfeeding since she was born and haven’t had a period yet, so altogether have been period free for 16 months - will that have helped the endometriosis enough for us to have a chance of ttc naturalky for DC2?

Magpie24 · 24/01/2018 20:45

How short does the luteal phase have to be to make conception problematic?

AurorasEncore · 24/01/2018 21:13

What would be cares investigation and treatment plan for secondary infertility be without going down ivf route?

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 24/01/2018 22:12

How long does it take for fertility to return to normal after having a merina coil removed?

Floofles · 24/01/2018 22:18

Why is IVF treatment so much more expensive in the UK than elsewhere?

TeaVee · 25/01/2018 01:56

So today I have just had my third ectopic.
There are no explanation as to why I've had them but I've now had both tubes removed and I'm only 24.
My question is 'As IVF is my only option now for conceiving, is it possible to still have an ectopic pregnancy if there is still a bit of stump left, or can the embryo be implanted in a way it would be impossible for it to become an ectopic pregnancy?'

closephine85 · 25/01/2018 06:55

We have secondary infertility and have been trying for 4.5 years. 2 failed rounds of ivf (4 x perfect blastocysts), the second round was a chemical/early miscarriage. All my tests (laparoscopy, hsg, blood tests, ultrasounds) have come back clear but my husband has a varying low count - his results over the years have varied from 1million - 10 million per/ml, morphology 0% - 3%, rapidity 8% - 56%, DNA fragmentation 25%. Our son was conceived naturally on month seven of trying.

My question is, do you think his count alone would be enough to explain why we haven’t had a single natural pregnancy in the whole time we have been trying? Or do I need some further investigations and if so, what would you suggest?

Thank you

WandaMG · 25/01/2018 14:01

What's the best way to offer support to a relative who has had another miscarriage? I don't want to do the wrong thing.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 25/01/2018 15:36

How long after starting TTC should you wait before seeking help?

CopperPan · 25/01/2018 17:41

How do fibroids (intramural) affect fertility? I've been told they only affect fertility in rare cases and shouldn't be a concern, yet we have no other explanation for secondary infertility.

IWouldBeSuperb · 25/01/2018 18:00

Is the age your mother goes through menopause really a good indicator for fertility?

I've heard that taking ten years off that age should be taken as a 'cut off point for the daughter?

redskyattwilight · 25/01/2018 18:09

Is it possible for someone who has never had regular periods or amenorrhea due to low weight (for around 12yrs) to ever have a possibility of becoming pregnant? Or will this history negatively affect the rest of my life even if/when weight gain is achieved?

LookingAtTheStars89 · 25/01/2018 18:13

Are your periods affected after a missed miscarriage, if so, how long for?

hurrythefuckupgeorge · 25/01/2018 19:00

I got pregnant after 14 cycles but had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. I had been referred to a fertility clinic but cancelled the appointment when I found out I was pregnant. We are ttc again but I wondered how long we should try again before asking for a another referral. I am 35 and partner 44. Thanks

danigrace · 25/01/2018 20:56

If I struggled to conceive with pcos first time am I almost certainly likely to struggle when trying for a second?

capturedbyminipirate · 26/01/2018 04:57

My periods were like clockwork and have regulated back, however back in October I was 10 days late and had all the pregnancy symptoms, however each test was HPT was negative. Went to the dr and was told I had a urine infection. Explained the excess peeing and lower back ache, however everything I read on the internet said UTIs don't affect your period. I wish this could be communicated better

Is it true that you have a spike in fertility in your early 40s as your body does all it can to reproduce before menopause?

lostworkerbee · 26/01/2018 13:25

I've been ttc my 2nd child for two years. 2 MMCs in that time and 1 cycle of IVF. We have one frozen embryo left and I'm approaching 40. Investigations show I have a slight septum - how does this affect our chances?

SweetMummy911 · 26/01/2018 16:07

Can having a medical /non surgical abortion limit your chances of getting pregnant?
