This week, we’re giving MNers a chance to ask Zoe Griffiths – Weight Watchers Dietician - any questions you might have about the Weight Watchers programme.

With 10 years of experience as a Dietitian, as well as experience supporting a range of departments within Weight Watchers, Zoe will be able to offer advice and information on the Weight Watchers programme.

If you’ve heard anything about Weight Watchers that you’d like Zoe to clarify, please ask your questions here.

Post your questions to Zoe on this thread before 7th September and we will send 20 questions over for her to respond to. We will then post a link to her responses on the thread on 22nd September.

Everyone who adds a question (regardless of whether it's answered or not) will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 vouchers for Asda plus a free 3 month Weight Watchers membership.

This Q&A is sponsored by Weight Watchers.

Thanks

I have a massive sweet tooth and I snack all day what would you recommend to make me fuller for longer and what would satisfy my sweet tooth thanks

sharond101 · 01/09/2014 21:34

My Husband is a big eater and always hungry but needs to lose weight. Weight watchers ready meal portions are snack size to him. Is it possible to have bigger portions cooking from scratch whilst doing weight watchers?

lottietiger · 01/09/2014 22:13

Can you do the WW diet without attending the meetings oR do you have to do both?

thewomaninwhite · 01/09/2014 22:20

Am currently back at ww for the zillionth time. What can I do differently this time to keep at goal?

Also, can you do a veggie cook book please? So many of the cook books seem to be focused on meat/fish dishes. I need inspiration.

sealight123 · 02/09/2014 13:49

Even when I do well with a weight loss program I struggle to keep the weight off. How do you keep the momentum going when doing a weight watchers diet plan? Is it treated as a diet or as a healthy lifestyle change?

magentastardust · 02/09/2014 16:46

How easy is it to maintain weight loss on WW? I manage to lose weight but then can struggle with motivation after a big loss and can struggle to maintain. Would you have to be strict and count points forever or do you think it would be possible to ease of on the counting and still be successful? I am just not sure of how practical continually counting points would be long term?

Thanks

telsa · 02/09/2014 17:23

Iis it still basically the same as when it started all those years ago, or has dietary advice changed massively?

FrancesHB · 02/09/2014 17:42

How many of your clients who lose a significant amount of weight (say 3 stone plus) have kept it off after five years?

kellymarie62621 · 02/09/2014 17:48

Have you got any suggestions for someone who manages to get to ideal BMI and them just can't seem to stick with it? I then end up piling it all back on :-(

WonderWomansSister · 02/09/2014 18:29

I'm a lapsed Gold Member from many years ago. I have quite a few cookbooks following older versions of the WW plan. Is there anywhere that these recipes have been converted into the current plan's points (or equivalent)? If not, could it be considered? I'd love to be able to use what I already have in the new context.

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 02/09/2014 19:17

How easy is Weight Watchers for a busy working mum? I struggle to prepare different meals (big fan of one-pot cooking) and am looking for a simple plan that fits around family life.

UncrushedParsley · 02/09/2014 19:25

Why do WW recommend 8 glasses of water a day, but limit carbonated water?

Hopezibah · 02/09/2014 23:37

We have just been on holiday and have had to eat out a lot in restaurants. I found it surprisingly difficult to make healthy choices (even in good restaurants the meals are just so calorific and I've ended up putting on weight). Do you have any top tips for eating out?

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 04/09/2014 18:06

The weight watchers low fat alternatives are generally laden with sugar. I discovered this when I was looking at diets suitable for someone with gestational diabetes.

With a diet heavy in sugar more likely to cause type 2 diabetes than a fatty diets, how ethical is it to promote them as a healthy alternative to regular versions of the food.

colleysmill · 04/09/2014 18:09

When setting a goal weight on weight watchers is this what I want to achieve or what the healthy guidelines say? For example I have a large frame and I'm not sure (being realistic) if I will ever achieve an ideal weight/bmi but I still need to lose weight iyswim.

MeganChips · 04/09/2014 18:35

Why can people who don't get on with Pro Points but had great success with the last system not still attend meetings for support?

MmeLindor · 04/09/2014 23:45

I'd be interested in the answers to Scouseadelic and Keema's questions.

With dietary advice now turning more and more to low carb instead of low fat, will you be changing your plans?

Tbh, I'm not entirely comfortable with Mumsnet hosting this webchat as I feel that the diet industry has been disastrous for women. We are made to feel bad about our weight and our figures, and then hey presto! Here's a solution.

captainmummy · 05/09/2014 08:31

Good point Keema - and MmeLindor. It's not a solution though is it - the 'life-long' WWs is proof of that.

A friend of mine has 'life-long' membership of WW and I think that is the most depressing thing ever. And proof that it doesnt work.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 05/09/2014 14:05

Hi, I've yo-yo dieted for a few years now. Never tried WW although considered it in the past. I have 30lbs to lose that doesn't seem to shift. How effective is WW for people who have tried low carb, calorie counting, Atkins and basically every other diet under the sun?

momofmonster · 05/09/2014 14:29

Is weight watchers recommended for someone with Graves disease?!

Laquitar · 05/09/2014 17:24

Why do ww use the points system which sounds to me a bit complicating?

SaltySeaBird · 05/09/2014 22:11

Slimming World seems very popular in my area and I know lots of people who have done it (including myself). It's a very simple system.

What would you say are WW advantages over SW?

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 05/09/2014 23:49

Are you allowed to have unlimited fruit and vegetables for 'free' on the WW plan?

Ledkr · 06/09/2014 06:47

Do you have tips on reducing portion sizes when people are accustomed to large ones?

colleysmill · 06/09/2014 12:14

Oooh one more from me sorry.

Does ww help address the psychological factors behind some people's eating habits? I know I eat when I'm bored or stressed out and often without being particularly conscious that I'm doing it. Things Is I know this but I'm struggling to change the habits of a lifetime and i need help putting strategies in place to stop this happening.
