Hello. A while ago, all you lovely Mumsnetters gave us some brilliant tips for surviving winter colds and sniffles. Well, now we want to know which of those tips you think is the very best of all.

And, thanks to the very nice folk at Kleenex Anti-Viral Tissues, everyone who votes for their top tip will be in with the chance to win £500 of Center Parcs vouchers.

All you need to do is check out the tips and then click on the link at the bottom to come back to this thread and post the name of the Mumsnetter whose tip you liked best. (Some Mumsnetters have got more than one tip on the list, so if you're voting for one of them, please specify tip 1 or tip 2).

All votes must be posted on this thread by the closing date: midnight on Tuesday 24th February. Good luck!

Go totally over the top with sympathy with plantsitter's tip,

I would also advise calling NHS 24 for any man flu sufferers, this is for the severe injury that you may cause them after running around all day with a worse cold than they have.

Threadworm gets my vote... but why did nobody tell me this before it was too late!

paperchase - if you can't shoot them, try using a good quality saucepan. Wash your hands and use bleach to clear up any bloodstains and then pretend it was a freak cooking incident.

I liked Hassled's tip - Expose yourself (as it were!!) I worked on a children's ward for years & got every bug under the sun & am now fairly invincible!!

SnoozyVic · 06/02/2009 13:10

Slur's tip gets my vote. Hot lemon drink (pref. unwaxed) with a bit of honey is the stuff of miracles. Keep up those fluids!!!

Leslaki · 06/02/2009 13:25

Ohyoubadkitten - I am sure I get all my germs from the snuffling, snorting n sneezing ankle biters at work!!!

Lummey · 06/02/2009 13:52

I agree with Thumbwitch - stay away from GP surgeries!

Podrick · 06/02/2009 14:49

My vote is for Rhubarb, good common sense advice (pause to check spelling - have I ever actually typed the word Rhubarb before?) I also advise a wee massage of dc's feet with Vicks - great for helping night coughs don't know how it works but it does.

mamabug · 06/02/2009 21:48

I vote for MrsGrouchoMarxMerryHenry (tip 2), because in addition to being wonderful stuff, manuka honey also tastes yummy, and a teaspoon of pleasure every morning is definitely good for your health!

Avoid licking/kissing the petri dishes that are toddlers. Especially those ones with streaming green snot on their faces. Whomovedmychocolate (tip 1)

so hard to choose

Horton because of the ground up bees.

3littlefrogs (tip 1): Wash your hands frequently and teach your family to do the same. Keep surfaces - including piano keys and computer key boards - clean and dry.

Very sensible advice, I am actually afraid to look at my keyboard
