We stayed on site for our first visit when the dcs were 7 and almost 10. We had such a great trip, but nothing could beat the excitement of taking the monorail to MK on the first morning for early entry as we had reservations for breakfast with Winnie the Pooh at. Crystal Palace, and walking down a empty Main Street

Sitting on the people mover while people watching!

Just got back yesterday from our 2nd visit. Went for 1st time in 2023 thinking it would be our “once in a lifetime” trip, but got the Disney bug. Have used inheritance and savings for the two trips so it might be while until we can save to go again, but despite there being so many places in the world we want to visit we know we’ll go again!

Can’t really pinpoint anything in particular just the whole way that Disney do things. The customer service is amazing & the little touches they do for everything are fantastic. DH had our birthdays whilst out there, twice we came back to gifts in our room.

Did an animal kingdom trek this last time, that was outstanding, got so close to the animals and the staff really knew their stuff. My DS already wanted to work with animals, but it really cemented his passion and he’s only 10!

Our fave park is Epcot, we love visiting the worlds, trying the food and riding Guardians. The fireworks there make me really emotional.

could never understand why people go back time & time again until I went. I get it now!

The Parade just after Aladdin was released in the 90s. I still get chills when I hear "Make way...for prince Ali" 30 years later. It was the most magical parade of any Disney visit I've been to.

I still think about that parade!! It was amazing!!

Ex cast member here. I love epcot purely because I feel like it's my second home....even though I haven't been able to return in around 15 years!
The world showcase really is my happy place, especially during the food and wine festival. Taking in the cultures, enjoying the food and hearing the music. It's just perfect.

Taking my daughter, then aged 6, to stay at Give Kids the World, when she had just finished 2 and a half years of leukaemia treatment. We visited the parks daily and she was picked to ride on a float during the parade at Animal Kingdom.

Treacletoots · 11/06/2025 17:54

Waiting in line for over 3 hours despite being in early. Waiting around 2 hours for a ride that just broke down. Constant breaking rides and hideous, utterly rip off food.

Spending as much per night to stay in a 5 star hotel but instead sleeping in a portacabin.

Not an experience I will ever be repeating.

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 11/06/2025 17:59

Taking my kids to the evening Halloween party one year. It was such a great experience and my kids still talk about it years later

I've never been Disney World so have no memories of my own to share (sob!) - HOWEVER - I will briefly share this one (even those it's not directly mine!)
My uncle is a bit of a prankster & thought it would be funny to write to his wife & children to say they had won a competition with the star prize being a trip to Disney World.
He went to great effort to mock up the Disney headed paper & sent it in the post, etc. He heard their screams of delight when they opened it & pulled the duvet over his head chuckling to himself - the joke ended up being on him though as my Auntie as so cross, she made him book them a holiday (maybe that was his plan all along?!)
They had an amazing time - I remember them showing me the photos after & how in order to get the most out of the trip (because there was SO much to do!) they had to do an itinerary to make sure they could do all the things they wanted to do. Definitely the holiday of a lifetime!

I can’t believe there’s so few votes for Animal Kingdom – I love it there! I have so many happy memories of Disney World over the years, but my favourite was probably my frozen obsessed six year-old meeting Anna and Elsa Smile The very long queue was worthwhile

Cynicalaboutall · 14/06/2025 06:40

Disney is over priced, over crowded and incredibly noisy.
The adverts are horribly misleading because they don’t show any of that.
it is a fun day out, but keep your expectations realistic,

aveenobambino · 14/06/2025 07:45

Oh the log flume in Walt Disney world! We went in December and were actually quite cold but we were so excited to be there we didn’t care !

GivingUpFinally · 14/06/2025 13:28

Having been privileged enough to go to Disney World several rimee3since I was child my most standout memories are:

Seeing the Barbie show live! Think that was '93 or '94
Followed by mom buying me and my sister the Disney Barbie from the gift shop. And then the next year the VHS Barbies birthday was released.

The Tiki Hut and the Robinson Crusoe Tree House are a must.

Looking forward to taking my kids there soon and sharing and reliving some of the most magical memories of my childhood. Thank you Disney.

themumformerlyknownas · 17/06/2025 12:57

My first trip was back in 2006 as a preteen with my family. I have a very fond memory of telling my dad I don't know whether to laugh or cry while watching a show on stage in front of the castle. Still to this day he likes to talk about it.

As an adult, DH and I are both huge fans. We've visited with friends in 2017 after getting married and again in 2019 as a couple for my birthday. On my birthday morning we had breakfast with Winnie the Pooh (who I have a tattoo of in memory of a loved one), I cried. Everyone probably thought what a nutjob crying at Disney as an adult but honestly, Pooh bear has such sentimental value to us as a family I couldn't hold it in 😢

We're very keen to take our two DC when they're tall enough! So far we've managed DLP and that was magical, but there's nothing like Florida's WDW IMO.

Pllystyrene · 17/06/2025 15:44

We went on our once upon a time holiday at a time when my children were really struggling. ( Both SEN) I was unsure what to expect as I'd never been myself but I had always wanted to go, and really wanted to give my boys some happy memories. The entire holiday was magical, the parks are so ASD friendly, the characters are familiar and safe, their facial expressions are easily to read. The park layout is easy to follow and DAS system is fantastic. I really can't pinpoint a single one perfect memory but the entire holiday made such a massive difference to us as a family. Although it was years ago now and my boys are teenagers now still talk about it every day. ❤️

Mabiscuit · 18/06/2025 00:10

The drone show at Disney Springs last year was incredible. I'd the same feeling of awe as when I saw Illuminations the first time I visited in the early '90s. It's just magical to experience and then even better to bring your own child.

SecretScaryFriend · 18/06/2025 18:01

The Avatar ride in Animal Kingdom blew our minds. My smallest child was just tall enough to get on it and we had such an amazing experience exploring that area then riding high in an alien world. It was so immersive.

ladyluck13 · 18/06/2025 18:17

I can still remember the parades and the fireworks over the castle and it's been 20 years 😆 I can't wait to take my daughter when she's a bit older, make some lifelong memories

Shellekin · 18/06/2025 19:00

We loved the world food festival at Epcot - it was like a trip around the world!

digiwidgy · 18/06/2025 19:07

Hollywood studios and the stormtroopers. They came up the Main Street. A cast member told us where to stand and the interaction was fabulous.

MannyTeddy · 18/06/2025 19:15

I have been aged 13, 26, 30, 34, 36 and 40, brought my family along for most holidays staying in villa's. My DH and I did the Segway tour of Epcot before opening hours and it was so exciting. My 3 year old DD getting made into a beautiful princess, the pirates and pals cruise to watch the fireworks from. Her grandparents were equally impressed by the magic. The smell of the main street bakery is intoxicating. I even put my big girl pants on for my DD aged 12, to go repeatedly on Everest and Rock and roller coaster.
We've done the Chip and Dale marshmallow roast at Fort Wilderness and the mini golf at Winter Summer land and celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries in Celebration. Everyone always has a magical time no matter their ages. 🥰🥰🥰 We love it there.

TianasBayou · 18/06/2025 19:24

So many memories from trips over the years but nothing beats flying over to meet my DC fulfilling their dream of being a Cast Member through the Cultural Exchange Program. Fascinating to hear what goes on behind the scenes.

cvp86 · 18/06/2025 19:27

My now husband proposed to me on The Little Mermaid ride...he had planned to do it in Belle's castle restaurant at dinner but we had seen another proposal earlier in the day and, unaware of his plans, I commented that I'd hate to be proposed to in a public place. The ride was a panic move but it makes for a very memorable proposal and I love telling the story now. We are taking our daughter soon so she can see where the magic happened 😀

h0llss · 18/06/2025 19:55

Going with my mum, sister, aunt, uncle and cousin when I was 13. Me, my sister and cousin went on Big Thunder Mountain and loved it so much we wanted to go on it again, as the queue was really short we kept sneaking round to join the queue again without our family seeing us. Went on it about 5 times in a row before coming back and claiming the queue had just been really long and that’s why we’d been gone for about an hour - years later my mum told us we’d been seen going round and round but they were hot and tired so left us to it! We thought we were being so slick 😂

Jackreacherstrousers · 18/06/2025 22:48

Going with my dad on his favourite ride, in Epcot, to see Figment on the eve of my wedding in 1997. Doing the same ride with my husband 25 years later on the eve of our silver anniversary, in remembrance of my late dad, and still being delighted to see that goofy little purple dragon through my tears 💕
