Oversize cashmere jumpers and soft waistband trousers.

Ilostmyhalo · 11/09/2024 16:07

I think feeling pretty but practical - and this cardigan has it for me, button front, with a pink colour. https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E472095-000/00?colorDisplayCode=10&sizeDisplayCode=004
with slightly tailored - but comfy trousers https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E470923-000/00?colorDisplayCode=04&sizeDisplayCode=004

pink and grey are such a lovley combination !

As a new mum - and having LOTS of laundry - anything machine washable and does not crease - Love the cashmere range - but it's just not practical.

I love the fun printed t shirts, but I will stay in my PJ's all day - so I love these

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E472996-000/00?colorDisplayCode=58&sizeDisplayCode=003

and these are pjs but suitable for daywear too - and the price is really competative https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E471895-000/00?colorDisplayCode=30&sizeDisplayCode=003

For a new mum, it's practical, comfy, stretchy and can be washed and dried quickly - these joggers are great I think https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E470134-000/00?colorDisplayCode=59&sizeDisplayCode=003

paired with a breathable t shirt, there is a great range of lounge wear which I am really tempted with - who does not like a pyjama day (or two)

Anything comfortable and really quick to wear. I love oversized clothing. It allows me to still stay in style and wear items I actually like and is a little more forgiving to my body as it has changed through pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I'm in love with this oversized cardigan. It's gorgeous! I love the colours it comes in too!

It's trendy, floaty and has access for breastfeeding. Not revealing on the stomach. Will fit when postapartum and when losing the baby weight.

My tips are accept your new body - it's helped grow a new life - don't hide in black and baggy - wear items which are comfy, but stylish, there are many clothing types which are flattering to a mum tum.
Especially these .......
tweed wide leg - with a oversize t shirt - a lovely outfit

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E473227-000/00?colorDisplayCode=08&sizeDisplayCode=026

and if you want a pj day - or two - go for it - it's your call these are really pretty

For me, when breastfeeding, anything that buttoned open or was flowy and easy to lift up was key. Therefore, things like this:
https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E472687-000/00?colorDisplayCode=01&sizeDisplayCode=004
Were a key (and still are a key) part of my wardrobe!

Comfort over fashion, button through tops for breastfeeding and pull on leggings/joggers - things that can be pulled on when you're bleary eyed and half asleep then just thrown in the wash. Enjoy that precious time with your baby without worrying how you look! But joggers/loungewear can look good.

S0CKPUPPET · 12/09/2024 23:07

I’ve always preferred dresses so when my babies were small I wore button down dresses like these that were easy to nurse in. They were also good to hide the few extra baby pounds and I didn’t need to worry about finding something to match or coordinate.

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E471658-000/00?colorDisplayCode=65&sizeDisplayCode=003

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E469346-000/00?colorDisplayCode=55&sizeDisplayCode=003

In the winter I wore them with heattech leggings or tights.

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E460445-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=003

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E469849-000/00?colorDisplayCode=08&sizeDisplayCode=004

I also used one of their nylon fabric shoulder bags as a nappy bag / handbag , as it was very lightweight yet spacious and easy to clean when the inevitable spills / sticky fingers happen. I just bought a small fold up changing mat to put inside . Then I still had a nice bag to use when the children were out of nappies.

They don’t sell the one I used now, but they do something similar each year, like a bigger versions of this.

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E472032-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09

I much preferred wearing the same styles I wore before I was pregnant, it made me feel more myself and less “ mumsy”.

I live in Uniqlo and my personal fave is the U T-shirt. Even though it's so basic, having something that's simple and good quality (really thick cotton), in a colour that suits me makes me feel smart.

felissamy · 13/09/2024 17:21

Uniqlo are pretty good for stylish but comfortable. Dress in layers, because you never know when you’ll get some splonk on your shoulder, and also your body temp can be all over the place.

Theimpossiblegirl · 13/09/2024 20:06

Clothes that are easy to care for are so important. I'm sure before children I didn't get so covered in food!
easy to wash jumper

Walkbyall · 13/09/2024 21:53

I went through this phase in spring/summer this year and had on rotation 3 x Uniqlo linen shirts with 3 x Uniqlo white vests to go underneath. I wore wide leg, cropped linen trousers that felt like pyjamas and all the items complemented each other in terms of colour so no matter what i threw on it just worked. Looking at the current collection, this would be a go to for me… https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E470882-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=003

so simple, easy, elegant and comfortable. I also recommend items that are quick and easy to wash and then hang to dry - like this. And also those that will still look great if you gain or lose a stone or two. Your body can be quite unpredictable in those first few months so knowing that you won’t have to go shopping when you are so busy is comforting.

This oversized fleece cardigan is gorgeous and I had similar from Uniqlo last year which had been my go-to! So easy to dress up or down and make every outfit look put together. My favourite way to style it was with a pair of comfortable slacks, airism top, trainers with the fleece thrown over. Perfect for autumn park walks and coffee and baby groups, all while staying warm and looking cute 😆

MazeRunner · 14/09/2024 09:05

Feeling comfortable was my priority.

Your body may feel different and if you’re breastfeeding, you want clothes that have easy access.

Soft leggings & loose wide leg trousers with elasticated waistbands, soft slouchy knitwear, stretchy vest tops that weren’t too tight & oversize cotton/linen shirts worn open were my go to. I didn’t like too many layers as when I was out & about, I didn’t want to faff about taking things off to breastfeed dcs.

My maternity vest tops were a good investment, as I wore them for many months afterwards as they had extra room round the stomach area.

MondeoWoman · 14/09/2024 11:41

I would echo what previous posters have said about being comfortable. My top tip would be to have easy to put on shoes e.g Stretch Short Boots. When I was rushing to get out of the house I was always grateful for my slip on trainers and boots.

Dizzybet74 · 14/09/2024 12:38

I love the airism joggers. I have a navy pair so they can look reasonably smart with a white top. I've worn them loads this year - great for long haul flights, active adventures and even smart enough for meetings during a trade show. It would be nice to have a warmer/windproof version for when it gets colder. https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/contents/feature/masterpiece/product/ultra-stretch-airism-jogger-pants/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw6JS3BhBAEiwAO9waF9Cf9QSkun5FfLQ-vImpuSNVEz5FRBm1cd3E2NAJyRjLnDeBpwJ5xRoCzP8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

MoominMumu · 14/09/2024 20:26

Definitely go for elastic waistbands for maximum comfort. These trousers look comfy and stylish enough to make you feel put-together post-natally. https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E471642-000/00

I agree with the comfort over fashion message. I used to love long line vest tops to cover my less toned stomach and then layer up. Also when early on and breastfeeding cardigans and buttoned tops were invaluable

NewUserNewName · 15/09/2024 21:02

Love this jacket https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E469873-000/00?colorDisplayCode=69&sizeDisplayCode=003

i loved everything that was a bit wider, as comfort the most important aspect for me when healing after giving birth and breastfeeding

Soft and warm jumpers - love a high neck to be warm but stylish (I’ve always loved a high neck pre mum and post mum!) wide leg trousers that are comfy but smart. Handy for whatever the weather, whatever the activity and running around after 2 wild boys!

prawncocktailcrispss · 16/09/2024 12:51

I think a dress with some shape to it at the waist - it's nice to have your waist back after your pregnancy body, - this is long, light, flattering and cool to wear and can be brought into your winter wardrobe with a jumper underneath.

A well fitted and comfy bra is a must! I loved in comfy leggings and loose tunic tops for breastfeeding, and a beautiful soft scarf is great for feeling more put together and to act as a sling, muslin etc.
I thought I wouldn't be in my post maternity clothes for long so I didn't really invest, but in hindsight this is the moment in life when a couple of beautiful pieces can really give you a boost and help with your self confidence when you really need it, so go for it.
