NOW CLOSED

Some of you may remember a few weeks ago Mumsnet users voted for The Celia Hammond Animal Trust to be in the final 3 of the Animal Friends £100k Charity Giveaway. Well the time has now come for you to vote in the final and help decide the charity to win the £100,000 donation from Animal Friends.

Please see the final 3 charities below:

Here’s what Animal Friends has to say: “Animal Friends Pet Insurance is a leading UK specialist pet insurance provider offering award-winning cover for dogs, cats and horses. Established in 1998, the company was founded to generate funds for animal charities around the world while providing pet owners with a top-quality pet insurance service. Between the charities they donate to and the pets they cover, Animal Friends Pet Insurance is dedicated to helping animals to thrive.”

UPDATE

We are pleased to announce that Street Vet has won the £100k charity giveaway! However Animal Friends are also going to be donating £25k EACH to both The Celia Hammond Trust and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust! Grin

🐝🐝🐝🐝 It’s bees for me.

LanaorAna2 · 14/11/2018 19:18

Bugger the bees. CHAT is all.

Tonkatol · 15/11/2018 04:14

Had already voted for Celia Hammond.

Like many others, I feel the donation should be split 3 ways - even if people still had to vote but the winning charity received 40% and the two runners-up received 30% each.

AngelwingsPetlamb · 15/11/2018 11:03

Voted, thanks

SuburbanRhonda · 15/11/2018 13:47

Bugger the bees.

The whole planet - you included - will be buggered if bees die out. How ignorant.

LanaorAna2 · 15/11/2018 15:39

I agree, but CHAT needs money yesterday and no govt policies are paying up for their cause, unlike our winged friends. Bumping...

user764329056 · 15/11/2018 19:10

Donkey Sanctuary please, those poor animals are literally worked to death sometimes and it’s heartbreaking, thank you

If there is a second option available please could this donation be to care for bears who are kept in appalling conditions and still used as performing animals in some countries having been taught to “dance” by playing music while they are forced to stand on hotplates, thank you

SuburbanRhonda · 15/11/2018 20:46

I agree, but CHAT needs money yesterday and no govt policies are paying up for their cause,

There are hundreds of charities who are solely funded by their supporters.

My point is that without bees, there will be no charities, no cats and no us. So prioritising a charity for fluffy pets over saving the planet seems a bit short-sighted to me. And I’m a lifelong cat owner.

Abeautifulpeagreenboat · 16/11/2018 10:11

Just to say, I voted and then received an email from Animal Friends. There was no unsubscribe button on the email and it actually said they would be contacting me again to tell me the outcome of the vote. I wonder what they will be doing with all our email addresses?

abigailsnan · 17/11/2018 18:04

Voted for Celia Hammond, they as all the other charities do fantastic work it is so hard to choise who to vote for.

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 17/11/2018 19:48

Bees for me, they are vital and underrated.

Can I ask though how an earth do you support a charity and "work with them" then put them up for a vote that may see them gain a huge amount of funding then suddenly realise..."burger me they aren't actually a registered charity!"

I'm all for charities getting much needed funding but I question the scruples of Animal Friends.

Bees for me.

Unfortunately my neighbours and i did not have great experiences with ch. we live in a very cat-dense area, tiny terraced houses with at least one or two cats in each. There were a lot of fights and many many territorial issues.

A couple of us lost our cats and went to ch. they used pretty strong arm tactics to try and force us to take two cats. I ended up going elsewhere for one as i’d had two before and had to rehome one it was that bad. My neighbour did take two but ended up with lots of spraying and other territory issues.

I realise they have more cats than homes but if someone has bery valid reasons for wanting only one adult cat they should really listen.
