Perhaps you have a child with the potential to be a future 'Banksy' - an artist able to cover a wall in felt-tip graffiti, while you are busy chopping carrot sticks. Or maybe they're more of a Jackson Pollock character - suddenly spraying the entire contents of their bowl across the floor in homage to the painter's splatter artworks? We’ve all been there when unbelievable messes have occurred in the blink of an eye and Carex would love to hear your stories about the biggest messes your children have made.

Here’s what Carex has to say: “Here at Carex we’re all about living life hands on… and sometimes that means getting messy! Luckily we’re here to clean, care and protect with our range of antibacterial hand washes. To keep the family busy this summer you can currently enjoy half price entry to Alton Towers and Sea Life centres with every promotional pack of Carex.”

Did you leave the room for five short minutes only to come back and find they'd somehow got at your prized Chanel lipstick and had liberally applied it not only to their lips, but their cheeks, eyes, hands and hair? What madness made you leave them unsupervised?! Share the unfortunate stories of the times you turned your back and a mess ensued.

Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I've been fairly lucky as they've never gotten into creams or lotions etc but they do like to tip the Lego box up as soon as my back is turned. It has 100/000+ pieces in so you can imagine the mess.

My DD has never been one to make too big of messes until one day, I came into the lounge to discovewr my 6 year old DD had covered her hands and arms completely in sparkly chapstick. Even after washing it off with her favorite Carex Love Hearts hand wash, she was still covered in the waxy substance. I had to scrub her with baking soda to get it off.

shellywkd · 27/07/2018 10:58

My daughter squeezed talcum powder all over the bathroom and herself about 5 minutes after I bathed her.

frances93 · 27/07/2018 11:10

Baby lotion, everywhere! My daughter had rolled over to the changing bag grabbed it and squirted it, she was covered as where the walls doors dog and carpet. She was lovely and soft though...

My lad loves to cook and was going to make his sister an omelette. No sooner had he started and we had egg on the floor, the worktop, over him in fact the only thing in the bowl were a few bits of shell. I don't quite know how he managed it but it took me ages to clear up.

xcxcsophiexcxc · 27/07/2018 11:17

My little one can create mess in .5 of a second. Blink and his food bowl will be all over the floor and up the walls !

maureen3733 · 27/07/2018 11:47

having had a new leather suite and my daughter decided to draw all over it in biro

iamsaranna · 27/07/2018 11:48

When I was decorating the bathroom in my DS tipped a whole tin of blue paint in the bath and mixed in some lush bath bombs and radox - apparently it was a magic potion that would mean the room would be finished in no time lol. The funniest thing was that I was up the ladder in the same room and didn''t notice a thing.

a drawing in permanent marker on my week old new sofa.....

My 13 month old daughter recently took off her nappy and pooed and rubbed her own poo in her face and all over her travel cot. Needless to say I had to chuck it lol 😂

andywedge · 27/07/2018 12:14

Utterly trashed the bathroom, with the entire walls and ceiling dripping wet

We were 'Dog-sitting' for grandparents and decided to take the dog in the woods. We sat while our boys walked around the trees. There was a lot of laughter - the dog appeared covered in Foxes poo he shook himself all over the four of us - we had to leave the car and walk home to get cleaned up - the smell was unbelievable!

When my nephew was 18 months old my sister moved back in with us after leaving her husband. I'd never changed a nappy in my life & never wanted to so when my sister asked me to babysit while she went for an interview I was dreading it. She promised me faithfully that he never had a dirty nappy at the time I was looking after him...she lied! It was in the days of terry cloth nappies & nappy buckets with the bluey green liquid in to soak them in so when Paul did a dirty nappy I had to change him. I hadn't a clue what to do but thought I'd give it a go so took him in the bathroom..big mistake. I took off his dirty nappy &, as I turned around to get a new nappy liner he pulled the nappy bucket over & the liquid spilled all over my Mum's beautiful cream carpet. That was the first & last time I ever changed his nappy!

When my son was a young toddler, he loved playing with dry pasta shapes- tipping them into different bowls and pans (simple things).

Somehow he got bored of his allocation and got into the giant 3kg sack of penne we kept in the kitchen. Fortunately it was a dry, non-staining kind of mess but I was finding bits of dried pasta for WEEKS after that. Even my shoes at one point... emptied a handful from my handbag onto my desk at work!

compy99 · 27/07/2018 14:20

when our Daughter was young she used to like to make "creations " any way one day she wanted to make a surprise creation. She said I have put it in a special place and that was that. fast forward 4 months and there was a terrible smell in our bedroom, we tore the room apart trying to find out what it was. we had an old bedside cabinet that had a stuck door and we never put anything in it. after we had exhausted everything we broke the door off to find rotted sprouts, mud and gravy with bits of glitter sitting in there, that was the creation that had been forgotten about, to mess was incredible.

glenka · 27/07/2018 14:21

they once emptied the entire contents of there wardrobe all over the floor, so the nicely ironed clothes were soon all creased up.

glennamy · 27/07/2018 14:36

Blackcurrant juice being poured into the dog's mouth as she thought he was thirsty! The carpet where 90% of it landed was not! :)

KentUnicorn · 27/07/2018 14:44

DS got hold of the suncream and got the lip off....I still don't know how to get it out the carpet and sofa. Even the cat got some!

minipie · 27/07/2018 14:48

We had 1 minute until the taxi to the airport arrived, I went for a wee and... kitchen and 2 DC covered in blue and gold glitter. Despite the glitter being kept on a shelf 2m off the floor.

DD1was bored one morning drew a picture on her bedroom wall, using the end of her toothbrush...it's scratched into the paint so not washable.

DD2 unfortunately wee'd on my parents' newly reupholstered sofa. Even worse, she also weed on a non colourfast scatter cushion, which ran and stained the sofa. Even worse, she was sitting in the middle so managed to get both sofa seat cushions at the same time Shock Blush

AuFinch · 27/07/2018 14:56

Was at the bottom of the stairs and I could smell a familar smell...... I can see your thoughts, was it poo? no it wasnt.... it was the dreaded Oblas Oil from the bathroom - our son had opened it up and was flicking the bottle all over and drops were just everywhere!!!! I cleaned the floor, the loo, the sink, the walls, the blinds, the windows - everywhere and it literally stunk for weeks. I am not sure if it was a blessing or not when someone made a smell in there as your nasal passages were 101% clear within 2 seconds of walking through the door!

ThemisA · 27/07/2018 15:27

Mine have been pretty good but once squirted shaving cream all over the bathroom but as it is largely tiled I didn't really mind and it looked so shiny when I'd finished I almost thanked them!
