Perhaps you have a child with the potential to be a future 'Banksy' - an artist able to cover a wall in felt-tip graffiti, while you are busy chopping carrot sticks. Or maybe they're more of a Jackson Pollock character - suddenly spraying the entire contents of their bowl across the floor in homage to the painter's splatter artworks? We’ve all been there when unbelievable messes have occurred in the blink of an eye and Carex would love to hear your stories about the biggest messes your children have made.

Here’s what Carex has to say: “Here at Carex we’re all about living life hands on… and sometimes that means getting messy! Luckily we’re here to clean, care and protect with our range of antibacterial hand washes. To keep the family busy this summer you can currently enjoy half price entry to Alton Towers and Sea Life centres with every promotional pack of Carex.”

Did you leave the room for five short minutes only to come back and find they'd somehow got at your prized Chanel lipstick and had liberally applied it not only to their lips, but their cheeks, eyes, hands and hair? What madness made you leave them unsupervised?! Share the unfortunate stories of the times you turned your back and a mess ensued.

Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

My son smeared enough toothpaste around on the bathroom wall, it looked like a paint sample. He also coloured in the radiator in his bedroom.

Enigma222 · 27/07/2018 04:58

My DC thought hair dye was painting colour and not only poured it into her paint pot but spilled it onto the carpet in the process Shock

hdh747 · 27/07/2018 06:06

My son once emptied a whole container of talcum powder while at the same time my daughter was busy helping out by 'washing' my clean laundry in the toilet bowl.

Just purchased one of those five litre paint pots of dulux endurance so roughly £30 a pot. Ds was playing with his cars and tools and I was in the kitchen starting dinner. He decided he wanted to use the paint tin as part of his game. He was only about two and a half at the time.
He must have tried to move it to where he wanted it, well that paint tin was just a wee bit heavy for my determined toddler so he dropped it on the floor. (Goodness knows how he lifted the thing, but he did). Paint all over the living room, and of course when i toddler makes a mess they try and clean it whth their hands Shock i rushed in after hearing the crash of the tin hitting the floor and could not believe my eyes at the mess!

Tipping the whole new bottle of talc all over the our room.

topsy73 · 27/07/2018 07:02

My DS and his little friend managed to empty an entire tub of sudocrem over themselves, the walls and bedclothes when they were a little younger

Narnianescape · 27/07/2018 07:11

My darling daughter managed to get hold of a bottle of poster paint and squeezed it all over my walls.

  1. Came in with a bowl of coco pops to see why I was glossing the window ledge and...

That took hours to clean

  1. Found a box of that soft coffee, tipped it all over himself and the kitchen and then hid in a kitchen cupboard
  1. The old sudocreme plastering the walls one

DD - was left momentarily enjoying a peaceful painting session. By the time I'd returned she had 'customised' several dolls...and her baby brother.

DS - I nipped out to the kitchen to check on dinner. In the 30 seconds I was out of the room DS had grabbed his sister's smoothie carton, opened the 3 drawers of our media unit, squirted the smoothie inside, all over the DVDs and into the DVD player. At 16 months.

KAKADU2001 · 27/07/2018 07:35

Drawing with crayons on 4 newly painted walls. I was at fault as I shouldn't' have left them alone.

gesu · 27/07/2018 07:37

When ds was 2, he emptied an entire packet of flour onto the kitchen floor. I wasn't even in a different room. I was in the kitchen too! He seemed to be having loads of fun so I left him to play for a while!

cluckyhen · 27/07/2018 08:16

Porridge! My DS decided he was having porridge for brekkie and couldn't open the tupperware pot so had a bit of a tussel with it..... it went everywhere!

vonniebab2 · 27/07/2018 08:25

They managed to open a tin of paint in the shed, paint all over the shed and footprints in the kitchen!

wonderstuff16 · 27/07/2018 08:42

Sudocream all over him and the carpet, just awful!

Yaracuy · 27/07/2018 08:55

A pot of paint I opened to cover a little rebellious mark. It ended all in the African rug I cherished and bragged about constantly... I still feel sick when I think about it.

Spices001 · 27/07/2018 08:57

I left tub of sudocrem on the floor for literally 30 seconds while nipped to the loo. I came back to a mini Casper!

janeyf1 · 27/07/2018 09:01

My little one drew shapes all over the wall using purple crayon. It was an awful mess

AR2012 · 27/07/2018 09:02

Crayons and markers on the walls. Took a while to scrub it all off.

phillie1 · 27/07/2018 09:03

Flooded the bathroom, as 3 year old and a friend wanted to have a paddle.

DoubleR · 27/07/2018 09:10

My DS emptied both a massive tub of emollient cream AND the large Sudacrem by smearing it all over himself, his bed, pillow, bedroom wall, soft toys and carpet. He said he wanted to be a ghost! He was less keen on having his hair washed four times to get it out. Luckily the Sudacrem website has cleaning tips for carpets, this obviously happens a lot.

happysouls · 27/07/2018 09:16

I have a couple of photos of occasions like this when my son was young. On one he is sitting on a double mattress and has a tub of moisturiser and it is smeared all over his face, head and the mattress. It was a spare bed and so sadly nothing actually on the mattress to protect it from him! The other photo he has opened the cupboard in the kitchen, got out a huge cornflakes packet and emptied it all over the floor! Important lessons learned haha!

maryandbuzz1 · 27/07/2018 09:34

The biggest mess my son made was when I had my back turned in the kitchen. He had just, started to walk and managed to open the fridge. I turned round to find half a dozen eggs smashed on the floor and he was sat in the middle of the goo smearing it around the kitchen floor.

sallyhartley · 27/07/2018 09:36

An upset full bowl of cereal all over the table and carpet!!
