Perhaps you have a child with the potential to be a future 'Banksy' - an artist able to cover a wall in felt-tip graffiti, while you are busy chopping carrot sticks. Or maybe they're more of a Jackson Pollock character - suddenly spraying the entire contents of their bowl across the floor in homage to the painter's splatter artworks? We’ve all been there when unbelievable messes have occurred in the blink of an eye and Carex would love to hear your stories about the biggest messes your children have made.

Here’s what Carex has to say: “Here at Carex we’re all about living life hands on… and sometimes that means getting messy! Luckily we’re here to clean, care and protect with our range of antibacterial hand washes. To keep the family busy this summer you can currently enjoy half price entry to Alton Towers and Sea Life centres with every promotional pack of Carex.”

Did you leave the room for five short minutes only to come back and find they'd somehow got at your prized Chanel lipstick and had liberally applied it not only to their lips, but their cheeks, eyes, hands and hair? What madness made you leave them unsupervised?! Share the unfortunate stories of the times you turned your back and a mess ensued.

Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

spag bol spag bol everywhere,

grannybiker · 08/08/2018 23:50

Probably the messiest and hardest to clean up involved the old deep-fat fryer I'd put away in a low cupboard to empty and clean later.
The resulting mess was so horrific I now refuse to give one house room - it's Actifry all the way! (Other dry fryers are available, ;) LOL!)

One of mine burst a bean bag and all the tiny polystyrene balls went everywhere. I found them all playing happily in the "snow" We were finding and picking up the polystyrene balls for weeks.

One of mine got hold of a giant tub of Sudocrem and we were scrubbing it off stuff all day and it still wouldn't come out of the carpet properly.

One of mine tipped baby's box of formula milk all over the kitchen floor and it turned into a horrible sticky, clingy mess everywhere.

Another time mine found a red sharpie and redecorated my nicely painted white wall with doodles. Unfortunately we couldn't get it off or cover the red without getting some special cover up paint!

The worst mess (and there have been lots) was when I was decorating and DS was about three. I had carried some paints through to the living room and he had become fascinated by the fluffy roller at the bottom of the (usually locked) cupboard we store everything in . He pulled it out and somehow it unbalanced everything above it and it all tumbled down. Paint tubs , brushes and for some reason glitter came crashing down and of course I rush into the hall to find one tub of pain has exploded with red on the walls, carpet and him . It looked like a war scene and at first I thought he'd been hurt , but he was fine and giggling madly . So we redecorated two rooms not just one .

I went to answer the phone in the kitchen and when I returned my 2 year old had put felt tip all over the wall in the living room!

Four year old drawing all over the wall above desk. She said she was the teaching writing on the board for her class.

Chocolate that would normally be eaten within seconds was 'hidden'. Was not pleasant when he found it down the side of the sofa Shock

tubbyj · 09/08/2018 12:51

Silver glitter and slime into the lounge carpet....

when my son was 4, we were getting ready to go out for the day, bag packed and I was upstairs. I came dowm to find he had taken the green pump action factor 50 suncream out of the bag and sprayed it all over himself, and throughout the entire downstairs! It was on the front door, up the walls, curtains, sofa, furniture and patio doors/ windows! I didn't even know how to start cleaning it up, it took about 4 hours to scrub it off. I never did buy coloured suncream again!

Daughter did with the only lipstick I owned, what a nightmare. Trust me to not go for a nude shade

farhanac · 09/08/2018 15:03

Lucozade bottle vs cream carpet

broughton100 · 09/08/2018 15:03

Smearing sudocream all over the electric radiator in the chalet we were staying in in the Alps. Trying to get it out of the holes was impossible. I wonder what happened when the heaters were turned on. We were there in the height of summer!

Racecardriver · 09/08/2018 15:03

Tube of toothpaste inside the radiator Sad

cocochips · 09/08/2018 15:30

I was painting the bathroom and turned my back for 1 min. My DS got hold of the paint box and you can imagine the horrific mess that followed!!! Paint absolutely everywhere- it took days to clean it up

jen1984j · 09/08/2018 15:48

My 3 year old got hold of my make up bag while she was sat on my freshly washed bed sheets! It was a rainbow of lipstick and eyeshadow shades within a few minutes!

ccmms · 09/08/2018 15:55

For my son's 5th birthday he got a spiderman web slinger toy thing. Basically it was a contraption that you put on your wrist that would hold a cannister of silly string that you could aim and spray like spidermans web. Went outside to hang washing up. Came back to carnage. Its amazing how far 3 cannisters of silly string can go. Over every single fucking ceiling in my 2 bed flat for starters. And over pretty much everything else in my flat, tvs, sofas, bed, cupboards, walls, carpets. But the ceiling was the worst.

My 3 year old son had a wooden Brio railway track laid out on the living room floor. The Avon lady delivered my order, which I placed on the sofa and then went in the kitchen to cook dinner. When I came back in I was horrified to see the floor covered in my Avon stuff!

He'd 'blocked the line with snow' i.e. my Avon body butter and then re-created a rainstorm by squirting cleansing water all over the track - thank God I didn't order perfume!

user1485629191 · 09/08/2018 18:42

I'd gone to get a bin bag after shredding all my paperwork and by the time I'd got back, my twins had made 'snow' with the shredded paper! I was finding it for months afterwards.

cathryn1 · 09/08/2018 21:00

ava knocked the washing powder over the kitchen floor, got upset as she thought she had done wrong, ran the washing powder all through the house argh

Oogle · 09/08/2018 21:19

15 month old DS + bottle of strawberry sauce + white walls = carnage. I actually cried Blush

pinkspideruk · 09/08/2018 22:11

H when she was potty training had the runs and managed to go in the potty - whilst i was going to grab wet wipes she decided to try and carry the potty to the bathroom, tripped over the cat and threw the contents over the cat and the beige sofa. I cleaned the sofa and then found the cat had crept into the bedroom and snuggled down into my bed leaving poopy pawprints everywhere she had been and poo smears inside my bed :(

OnMyWayToday · 09/08/2018 23:01

Sudacrem all over the carpet, smeared in delightful swirling patterns!

Doingreat · 10/08/2018 16:10

My son who was 4 at the time drew all over chest of drawers with permanent marker. This behaviour was inspired by an art app on the tablet! Maybe he thought it would be as easy to edit and undo in real life as it was on the app?!

purplepandas · 11/08/2018 18:47

A sudacrem disaster in the bathroom. That stuff is evil!

Highfever · 11/08/2018 22:43

Nappy cream all over new carpet. My fault as left it out. My son was delighted with the chaos he caused as I made a cuppa.
