Perhaps you have a child with the potential to be a future 'Banksy' - an artist able to cover a wall in felt-tip graffiti, while you are busy chopping carrot sticks. Or maybe they're more of a Jackson Pollock character - suddenly spraying the entire contents of their bowl across the floor in homage to the painter's splatter artworks? We’ve all been there when unbelievable messes have occurred in the blink of an eye and Carex would love to hear your stories about the biggest messes your children have made.

Here’s what Carex has to say: “Here at Carex we’re all about living life hands on… and sometimes that means getting messy! Luckily we’re here to clean, care and protect with our range of antibacterial hand washes. To keep the family busy this summer you can currently enjoy half price entry to Alton Towers and Sea Life centres with every promotional pack of Carex.”

Did you leave the room for five short minutes only to come back and find they'd somehow got at your prized Chanel lipstick and had liberally applied it not only to their lips, but their cheeks, eyes, hands and hair? What madness made you leave them unsupervised?! Share the unfortunate stories of the times you turned your back and a mess ensued.

Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

When DS2 was about 18months old he got hold of a tub of sudocrem. He’d managed to cover himself and our bed before I realised.

Recently when toilet training two year old DS - he was managing pretty well on his own so I left him to it whilst doing a bit of washing up (downstairs loo). He suddenly came running through crying heartbrokenly and shouting ‘toilet, toilet’. So I went through and found water sloshing all over the floor because the silly child had unwound and then repeatedly tried to flush an entire toilet roll down the loo. I had to reach right in to remove the toilet roll from the u bend and then it took about three towels to soak the water off the floor. Lucky our bathroom is downstairs so minimal damage. It also gave him quite a scare and he’s never really tried to do anything like that again!

Erm ... a couple of poo fests.
If you have never experienced a poo fest, lucky you.
If you have, you know what I mean.

Teaching my little girl to make a 6 egg Omelette was not my finest moment as a Dad according to Mum.

My son made some amazing watercolours last week using chalk and water on our patio. Unfortunately, he trod in them all and turned our beige carpet in to an amazing blue / pink watercolour masterpiece too

my then 2 year old had climbed out of his cot very early morning. climbed the stair gate on my room

I woke up at 630 (normal get up at 6 woke by his cry)

to find he had stuffed toilet paper in the sink and toilet. turned the taps on.

water going through the floor into the dining room below. I panic and threw my heavy duvay at it. ( not that it helped.. it just ruined the blanket) rang my mum in tears so she came round with mops and buckets and helped me clean up.

cracks in the dining room ceiling, it looked like it could fall through any moment. hankfully the landlord was very understanding.

ds was jumping in the puddles and thought it was great fun.

When we once stayed at my parent in-law's bungalow with our then 3 year old, my husband went for a lie down in the bedroom and our son was in the room with him so I thought that he would be OK whilst I chatted to my mother-in-law. When she suddenly observed that it was very quiet, I hurried into the bedroom and found my husband snoring and my son with an open tub of Sudocrem. He had been scooping it out and massaging it into a vinyl covered chair and onto his face. As I entered the room he seemed to rub it into his eye and yelled. My husband woke up in bewilderment. We cleaned him up successfully. Not quite the same with the chair. The Sudocrem took a long time to get off the chair!

Red craft paint over the white kitchen wall and flooring, which stained.

My DD decided to empty a dark purple limited edition MAC pigment onto my white bedding... I was in the room and turned my back for a few minutes to dry my hair. I think my scream scarred her for life!

badgermum · 04/08/2018 22:12

My daughter aged five found a red permanent marker in the kitchen drawer and thought it was a lipstick and painted it all over and around her mouth, it stained for weeks

My daughter decided that my new cream rug was the perfect place to make a mud pie. It included mud, grass an expensive bottle of perfume. Suntan lotion, smooched in lipstick and was topped with a lego man. She was very proud xx

Unicornmammy · 06/08/2018 20:25

Yep my 18mnth old wanted to be like mammy so managed to paint her nails her entire hands, my brand new sofa, her new pjs and a lovely dress in bright red nail varnish....in the time it took to fill the kettle. Hmmm we can laugh about it now Confused

lolamia91 · 06/08/2018 23:09

angiehoggett · 07/08/2018 12:41

A 3 year old finding your makeup bag is never much fun, make up all over herself, her little brother, walls, carpet, you name it!

bubbleybooboo · 07/08/2018 13:29

Id just done my childrens bedrooms up and did a cozy corner where their tv was with big scatter cushions and bean bags. We settled them on there watching a film whilst we came down for drinks.

Within 5 minutes my daughter run downstairs saying she was so excited as it was snowing! I ran to the window where there was no sign of any snow at all. I laughed and said its not snowing and she said it is and that she would show me!

She took me upstairs and there it was!! Three whole huge bean bags worth of polystyrene balls all over the bedroom! Two foot deep at least and my son sat in the middle of it throwing them in the air giggling!

The balls are still being found after numerous deep cleans! But im glad i can now look back and laugh about the day it snowed indoors!
