A big part of being a parent is being flexible and spinning several plates at the same time... there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do every task individually! Have you always been someone who can juggle multiple things at once or has parenting taught you the art of being flexible, Intel® would love to hear your best multi-tasking moments, as well as any tips and tricks for managing modern family life.

Here’s what Intel® have to say: “A thin and light Modern PC with an Intel® processor has great features that make it more flexible to use, so you can be more creative, productive and entertained. Cortana lets you use your voice instead of the keyboard and Windows Hello* lets you log in with your face not a password – perfect for when you already have your hands full with the children.”

Did you manage to book a holiday while you fed and bathed your children? Perhaps you helped one child with homework while breastfeeding your baby, being on Skype to your mum and eating your dinner all at the same time?

Whatever your tips or your best multi-tasking moment, share it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher from Argos.

Thanks and good luck!

Best way to juggle modern family life? Stay in bed!

Dormouse1940 · 14/06/2018 20:19

Honestly, it came down to priorities a lot when I was working full time with a horrible commute and DS was very young. So tbh, I can't pretend my house was spotless, but the time I had was focussed on having quality time with him.

Now things are radically different for me, I still like to meal plan and have the shopping delivered once a week. Even if you have all the time in the world, who wants to spend an hour at the supermarket, with pushy people and queues.

Also, I was late to the whole smartphone thing, but it really helps now that I can check/send emails from my phone whilst hiding in the loo instead of having to fire up my old craptop everytime!

fedupski · 15/06/2018 00:28

I often use Alexa to play music, my iPad to read ebooks and my laptop to find dance moves for the songs Alexa is playin,g to keep the kids happy all at the same time.

I have two diaries - one for family appointments and social events, and another which I keep as my to-do list. This helps me to remember things and keep on top of what I need to do. I also have good communication with my husband, so we remind each other of the little things, whether that's buying a present for an upcoming birthday party or remembering to research insurance quotes. Although I am wary of being on the phone too much in front of my toddler and new born baby, I try to steal moments here and there to stay organised. I use Apps to manage my online banking and to add items to our online grocery shop when I realise something is running low.

LJH79 · 15/06/2018 10:47

I get the toddler to help out with cleaning by him having his own role play toys so I can get on and hoover and clean whilst he is happy playing alongside me. I use a slow cooker so tea is ready when we get home from work and there is less to do and can spend time with the kids.

blackheartsgirl · 15/06/2018 12:50

In an ideal world I'd love to be super organised but with a lot going on in my life, full time job and lots of kids and coping with adhd sadly I'm not. If I did win this voucher I'd spend it on things that would make my life a lot easier, stationary, pegs, a coat stand and a shoe rack..stuff that I can't afford.
I do use a slow cooker though..It's awesome

cather · 15/06/2018 14:47

I use an online calendar to organise everyone.
I also clean the bathroom whilst my son is in the bath so I can talk to him but also get a job done.
Batch cooking is good when you are very busy as you can just reheat it whilst you do something else

Mummy2aRockstar · 15/06/2018 16:18

I deal with work emails and the website while waiting for my son to come out of school.

katieskatie82 · 15/06/2018 20:38

i do as much shopping as i can do online. That frees up alot of time. Alot of my time is spent running around doing things for school and football. so knowing i can shop at anytime online is a really time saver for me x

melmoo · 15/06/2018 23:54

With 2 jobs, 2 kids and fitting in 10 hours exercise a week (I'm doing another Ironman) I live based on a carefully planned diary. While I can't overlap the jobs everything else gets mixed together to make it fit.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 16/06/2018 11:10

I have always been good at multitasking but baby brain put a temporary end to that!

I try not to multitask too much when doing things with DC as i think it's important to give them my full attention when possible.

I make use of any travel time to get through emails and do the online shop, and I often batch cook more than one meal at once to reduce time spent in the kitchen. I also like to tidy and clean while on the phone, it feels like washed time otherwise

beckyinman · 16/06/2018 11:59

I just accept that chaos is part of my life and not to stress over it too much. And prioritise - family time is way more important than ironing!

user1485629191 · 16/06/2018 11:59

Planning everything and putting dates on the calendar as soon as I get them.

ellie17 · 16/06/2018 12:34

organisation is key, prioritising and factoring in chill out time

Doodygirl2009 · 16/06/2018 13:12

As a full time career at home most of the day I get all my household jobs done throughout the day while my kids are at school and I do our grocery shops online

rocketriffs · 16/06/2018 14:08

Internet shopping instead of travelling to town to get things saves many hours through the week and takes away a lot of the stress. Gives you more time to spend at home doing things for the kids etc.

maclinks · 16/06/2018 17:49

Best multitasking I that I have done with technology, is when the children are in judo lesson, have checked in on my mum on the phone, and on my tablet ordered a takeaway, booked a doctors appointment, replied to an email, completed a college assignment and then used phone to took photos of them been given there awards, all from the comfort of my spectators seat.

strawberrisc · 16/06/2018 18:16

Take things one second at a time. You can spend nights awake worrying about appointments and housework and what you are required to do work. Just do things as they come up and try not to overthink things, otherwise you get overwhelmed.

wooohooo · 16/06/2018 20:08

Itry to organise lots of things but something always seem to get In the way, I dont fret anymore I take everyday as It arrives

Doobedo · 17/06/2018 09:17

I continually multitask- it’s in my nature. I can impart lots of tips like; clean the bath in the way out of it. Spray shower immediately with shower cleaner whilst it’s still warm. Walking to school gates, text arrange next play date..make sandwhich and feed children whilst on phone to the insurance company..phone hospital/sister whilst walking dogs (more peaceful). Make artisan card whilst supervising kids crafts.. teach children about fibre crafts and traditional methods whilst doing it for fun.. teach a class of Chinese children about culture online during a trip to the supermarket.. I can go on and on. 😁

Nikita90 · 17/06/2018 12:50

I shop online so I don't have to go to the supermarket. I spend a lot of time outdoors with my daughter too, trying not to let her watch tv too much.

Lasplin84 · 17/06/2018 13:40

It is really tricky especially when you are so tired by the time the kids go to bed. I set myself little goals to do each night to ensure I keep on top of things. Only after that task is done do I sit down and relax. Otherwise once I sit down I won't get back up again.

NELALLAN08100 · 17/06/2018 14:08

Plan meals, shop online and keep a diary

IamReginaFalange · 17/06/2018 14:58

My phone is like my personal assistant!
I store important dates like birthdays, Lists of shopping or clothes I need to buy and I screen shot important emails, letters from school etc and WhatsApp them to my husband or in a iMessage to myself.
My husband and I share our calendars to be organised.
I do my shopping online from my phone while I wait outside in the car waiting to collect children from their activities, I have the amazon app and I have amazon prime which I use probably once a week.
Smile

cheryl100 · 17/06/2018 16:52

I shop online and work from home! I do have to go out to do visits for my job but I plan these around childcare as much as I can!
