Our video team here at MNHQ are considering creating a video series on computer games - they would be expert led and the idea is that the series would be a helpful resource for parents.

However, before we give the go ahead or not, we would love to find out what you guys think about the idea! Smile

What sort of questions would you like answered? Would you want it to cover more basic stuff like picking a console and understanding online gaming etc. Or more advanced topics, such as explaining popular new releases and trends, advanced tips for parents, and watching e-sports?

Whatever your thoughts/ideas are on MNHQ creating a video series on computer games, please comment on the thread below what you’d like to know about computer games and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £50 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Age restrictions

kittykomp · 28/05/2018 09:05

I'd like to understand what parental controls there are

bevmichelle47 · 28/05/2018 09:10

What's the best parental controls on games can you get? and could we have more control over a game before they start playing.

runkaterun · 28/05/2018 09:14

I'm just interested in keeping it safe

maryandbuzz1 · 28/05/2018 09:18

I would like very basic information as my knowledge is zilch! So a step by step guide would be great.

janeyf1 · 28/05/2018 09:27

I'd like to see recommendations for family friendly games that won't bore the parents and can help educate the players at the same time, preferably fun but not too addictive

maureen3733 · 28/05/2018 09:35

just with tips to how to reintroduce proper play ground games instead of all the screen based toys now

SSCRASE123 · 28/05/2018 09:43

Covering specific safety issues such as which games "could" lead to internet/chat with strangers and what games/apps lead to in-play purchases.

user1496053440 · 28/05/2018 09:46

I would like part of it to focus on educational benefits of video games

hiddenmichelle · 28/05/2018 10:03

More educational games that are actually fun for kids would be great!

slingsam · 28/05/2018 10:12

I think it's very important because there is so many different types of games out there and there is such varied content in them that it is important for parents to be able to regulate the content consumed by kids through games. Also it would help to know some facts about video games playing on kids so that the time the children are allowed to play is managed accordingly.

AR2012 · 28/05/2018 10:18

Think that better education and guidance for parents would make a difference.

KJ1986UK · 28/05/2018 10:22

I would be wanting warnings about games which say they are suitable for any age but do actually have scenes or images of a graphic nature. I hate when you get a nasty surprise like that.

DickVanTyke · 28/05/2018 10:36

I'm worried about online interactions, possible grooming etc, but also how long is too long on them and any tips for encouraging time away from the games without starting a huge row!

gd2011 · 28/05/2018 10:45

Can playing video games damage the brain?

voyager50 · 28/05/2018 11:19

I'm sorry but I think computer games are a waste of time - books are far better!

Yaracuy · 28/05/2018 11:26

I don't think it will be a good idea. I don't want those consoles in my house. It is a BIG NO NO. Sorry MMHQ. So sorry !

andywedge · 28/05/2018 11:29

Generally good; they help with lots of essential skills

soozybee1 · 28/05/2018 11:45

I agree with MeetMeInMontauk 100%. Awesome comment

glennamy · 28/05/2018 12:01

It's okay, however we do not have video games atm so not that much interest in the area at all... For now! :)

iut044 · 28/05/2018 12:04

It would be nice to know what new games are good to buy .

lizd31 · 28/05/2018 12:20

My great niece is too young for video games still but I ‘d be interested to know if there were any educational ones as she started school this year and is really doing well, she seems very advanced for her age, particularly at Maths and her writing is amazing

Helsbells68 · 28/05/2018 13:15

I would like advice on how to limit the amount of time played and how to get them to pause for a drink occasionally

meepmoop79 · 28/05/2018 13:29

I think that this is a good idea. One thing i frequently get asked is how to enable mods on minecraft. I don't have a clue. Also an insight into the safety aspects of the latest trending games would be good.

glenka · 28/05/2018 13:47

educational games would be a good topic to have these on.
