There is often a lot of talk about being a ‘good parent’ and with that comes a fair amount of expectations of what a ‘good parent’ should: look like, act like and even sound like. However, these (often unrealistic) projections put a lot of pressure on parents, but parenting is not a competition; most of the time you have to trust yourself and worry about it later!

Here’s what BabyBjörn have to say: “We want to put things into perspective by empowering new mums to have faith in their own instincts, set their own standards and develop their own unique parenting style. The one thing that all parents have in common is the love they have for their children. This means so much more than different opinions about giving birth, breastfeeding v. bottle feeding, soothers v. no soothers, cloth nappies v. disposable nappies, full-time work v. part-time work, or babywearing.”

BabyBjörn would love you to share the parenting moment you are most proud of.

Perhaps you created your own parenting rule that worked a treat and now you feel like you could write your very own parenting book? Was there a time when you you felt like ripping your hair out trying to get your DC potty trained but you persevered and finally they did it with no drama! Or maybe you’re multitasking was seriously put to the test and you came out the other side feeling like Super Parent?

Whatever parenting moment you are most proud of share it on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher and a brand new BabyBjörn Baby Carrier One for themselves and one for a friend/parent they want to celebrate.

Thanks and good luck!

Probably taking my daughter (when a toddler) on many aeroplane trips by myself

The care, consideration and patience DS 3.5yo shows his younger brother 10mo. Watching him take the time to teach him and share with him makes my heart melt. If the baby is crying, he always easily makes him laugh. The bond they have is incredible and makes me so proud.

Mine was when my daughter started walking at 9 months old

vonniebab2 · 13/03/2018 06:55

One of the proudest moments was when our Ds rode his bike for the first time without his stabilisers!

adamcorner · 13/03/2018 06:59

Our daughter is 20 months and my proudest moment was when she shared her Cozy Coupe with her cousin as usually she's very protective over it

Narnianescape · 13/03/2018 07:08

Seeing my daughter grown into such a helpful child that will go out of her way to help others.

My little boy finally accepting his sister, and buying her a gift from his school shop with the three pound I gave him to spend. I only give him a little amount to prevent loads of rubbish entering my home, but that day I felt so guilty; as he had obviously sacrificed something he wanted for his baby sister. #proudmum

My proudest moment is watching my son when he doesn’t know it and seeing how confident he has become. He seems to be able to cope with what most situations which are thrown at him.

jane1956 · 13/03/2018 08:06

I would say at both sons weddings, and now they both have good careers and own their own homes

007hel · 13/03/2018 08:14

My children make me proud a lot, I think I am most proudest when someone who doesn't even know feels the need to tell us in a restaurant/public place ... that my children are delightful.

KARINAJ83 · 13/03/2018 08:44

my little lady has sensory processing disorder, she struggles with loud sounds and textures. We bought some ear defenders and she was a different child. She gave me a big hug and said "thanks mummy i can hear now" Smile

im loving reading all these mummy comments, we put ourselves under so much pressure to be perfect and you all sound like amazing mummies!

SSCRASE123 · 13/03/2018 08:51

Both of mine coming home from SCBU, both were pre-term and we spent long days & nights with them. Apart from that I am most proud of their fantastic manners, really makes me happy.

AR2012 · 13/03/2018 08:55

My proudest parenting moment was when he was first able to speak confidently. We still needed to go to the speech therapist but he has made strides.

happysouls · 13/03/2018 08:59

My proudest moments were when my young son held doors for people and always said thank you when we were out shopping. It was lovely to see!

Dormouse1940 · 13/03/2018 09:04

I don't have any of the big moments some other posters describe, but I feel pride in my son every day...

I'm proud that we've instilled manners in him, and he's a gentle, caring lad and polite lad.
I'm proud when he declares himself 'a big boy now' and has mastered toilet training!
I'm proud that he loves books and we cuddle up together to read stories.

My heart bursts every time he says 'I love you mummy!' without any prompting.

As with so much in life, it really is the simple moments that are the best....

hiddenmichelle · 13/03/2018 09:38

When I see them have the confidence to chat to others and make new friends

lsymons · 13/03/2018 09:55

Proudest moment has to be the first positive test result and now the first kick!

Sparklepants3 · 13/03/2018 10:10

I don’t have children and haven’t really imagined them in my life. Now I have a 6 and an 8 year old. I was terrified of meeting them. Of being a ‘step mom’ but it has worked out and they like me. I had no reason to be so terrified! I just didn’t want them to think I was stealing their daddy away!

FlickeringEmber · 13/03/2018 10:16

Seeing the first scan photo!

mutleythegooner · 13/03/2018 10:43

My proudest moment so far was watching my daughter sing a solo in her Christmas Nativity play at only 5 years old - cue ridiculous amounts of happy tears!

meepmoop79 · 13/03/2018 10:53

When my eldest put on his bravest stiff-upper-lipped face as he was going off to camp for the first time.
For my youngest, when he helped the younger sister of one of his friends complete her first ever park run.

sarah25037 · 13/03/2018 10:53

My proudest moment with my little boy is when he finally used the toilet for the first time after a long struggle with potty training.
my proudest moment with my little girl (now 5 months) was when she was strong enough to come out of the special care unit and come home after being born at 34 weeks

lulumajor · 13/03/2018 10:57

Watching at nursery and seeing them being independent and make friends :)

xcxcsophiexcxc · 13/03/2018 11:20

Hearing my little man giggle

BL0SS0M · 13/03/2018 11:22

my proudest moment was watching my two older children bond with their new baby brother
