A big part of being a child is all about being adventurous, whether that means your DC has tried to wander around in your size 8 heels for a good hour before realising they don’t fit quite right or even potter in with muddy shoes from playing outside all day. With Peter Rabbit coming to cinemas March 16, we’ve teamed up with Sony Pictures to hear about the funny, mischievous things either you or your DC has done when you/they were little.

“In Peter Rabbit™, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers now takes on the starring role of his own contemporary comedy. In the film, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as their fight to gain control of McGregor’s coveted vegetable garden and the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne) extends to the Lake District and London. James Corden voices the character of Peter with playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail.”

Watch the Peter Rabbit trailer here:

Did your DC decide to have a go at cutting their own hair? Maybe you got caught giving your toys a wash in the toilet? Perhaps you’re always trying to find the TV remote that keeps going missing and turning up in strange places such as the fridge? Or did you ever rummage through your mum’s makeup bag and use every product on your face?

Whatever your humorous, mischievous stories are, share them with us on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

My sister and I used to go into my mum's room and spray so much perfume that she'd have to sleep on the couch because of the smell. She used to be livid and we were quite good kids so god knows why we did it.

Theimpossiblegirl · 26/02/2018 20:26

My DDs used to sneak their veggies under the table to the dog. I still can't believe he'd happily eat their carrots and broccoli.

CMOTDibbler · 26/02/2018 20:32

When they were 4, ds and his friend decided to do face painting with each other. But not having facepaint, they used felt tips. His friend had a christening to go to the next day, but the felt tips were still clearly visible

Spilled a massive amount of pva glue on the carpet under the dining table when I was young. My mum realised hours later when it had dried and she ran the vacuum cleaner over the carpet to discover it made a very strange sound. 😳

My dd has just started this mischievous phase. Last week I went up to get her out of bed and panicked when I couldn’t find her in her cot. We finally located her asleep under the double bed that is also in the room.
The bedroom was a scene of total devastation, with every item taken out of the drawers and wardrobe.

She also enjoys taking the mini shreadies out of the box. Yesterday, I found the whole lot carefully collected in the frying pan at the back of the other cupboard.

Perhaps her most challenging bit of mischief is a fascination with posting things that she finds OUT of the letterbox. I ended up locked in the house for an hour last week because she had posted my keys. Confused

When I was little, I once scratched a lovely picture onto the glass screen of our 70’s televion set with a fork. I was horrified when it wouldn’t rub off and kept quiet about it. One day the sunlight hit the screen at a certain angle and my masterpiece was revealed in all it’s glory. My dad was furious - but blamed it on my mum saying she must have scratched it with her eternity ring whilst dusting! I’ve never owned up to it.

Imgettingcheesefries · 26/02/2018 21:16

I went down the stairs in one of those plastic storage boxes, my mum was at bottom of the stairs telling me not to do it, it would hurt etc but I went for it anyway, banged my face and it really hurt but when my mum said "did you like it?" I said "I loved it" then burst into tears

GetKnitted · 26/02/2018 21:36

DS2 did try to give himself a side parting....... using scissors... I gave him a number 1 buzz cut to teach him a lesson..... he only did it again when his hair grew back!!

DuskPanda · 26/02/2018 21:42

DD1 used to use the house walls as her canvas. Remember one time in particular when it was the turn of the hall wall and she let leash with a red crayon and produced a particularly abstract work of art. Albeit she signed it with her sister's name. When confronted she denied being the artist and blamed her 6 month old sister.

Maybe she was taking after her mother's artistic streak my mother said I got up particularly early one morning and used the brush from a fire place set dipped it into water and then into soot and proceeded to paint the whole living room.

My children were bored one summer afternoon and found a hole in the fence at the bottom of the garden. They squeezed through and were caught sitting sweetly in our next-door neighbours Shock

ChasedByBees · 26/02/2018 22:19

My little one was asked not to eat a cup cake. So she didn’t. She just ate the icing off all of them.

CheeseEMouse · 26/02/2018 22:25

"Ice skating" on the coffee table. It was quite slidey. It was also not a brilliant idea... or doing flying somersaults onto the sofas in the living room

Anniegb72 · 26/02/2018 22:33

I once used my mums lipstick.. all over my eyes, cheeks and lips!! Bet I looked auwful at the time! My mum didn’t find it funny as it was all over the bed covers and floor and the lipstick.. was no more! None left!! Mum wasn’t happy!🙈 mum often reminds me of my mischievous act!!

del2929 · 26/02/2018 22:53

my now 12 year old who was then 3 decided to use my lipstick to paint her room. when i found her she said she was making her room bright.....................

Cheekyandfreaky · 26/02/2018 23:12

I smeared Vaseline all over my mums new outfit and then poured talc all over it, me and the entire front room. I always tell her it was her fault- how did I have access to all of those things and unsupervised time to do it?!

kateandme · 27/02/2018 02:58

so very bad I still have a pang in my belly of guilt now over the memory of deciding to try fitting one of those little fold up kiddies chairs with tripod legs onto my brothers head.oh yes did it get stuck.
the neighbour had to come and saw him out.bad sister.

MakeTeaNotWar · 27/02/2018 08:11

I used to pinch my brother's glasses to wear to school when I was 4 and in reception - I think the teacher thought they were my own for months!

TheWizardofWas · 27/02/2018 08:39

It all sounds like Shirley Hughes' My Naughty Little Sister. I remember scrawling on the wallpapered walls and also had a penchant for keeping perishables, like spring onions, in my mother's special handbag, till they'd rotted. And I don't know why. I know I had an obsession with making perfumes, so rose leaves mulched in there were meant to smell gorgeous over time. Never worked.

TheWizardofWas · 27/02/2018 08:41

Sorry, not Shirley Hughes, she did the pictures ....Dorothy???

AlfieandAnnieRose · 27/02/2018 08:53

Ahh some of these are quite funny! My little one has just started this mischievous stage, his favourite thing is to post things out the cat flap. Mostly shoes, which isn't great when it has been raining or they've been out all night and are all soggy!
As a child I remember feeding my little brother dog biscuits, funnily he wasn't keen on eating biscuits much after!

DollyLlama · 27/02/2018 10:04

When I was young, I took my mums nail varnish and painted a beautiful picture on my mums brand new wallpaper behind an armchair.

I just assumed she would never find out about it.

Feel really bad now I’m an adult!

AveAtqueVale · 27/02/2018 10:36

Once I stood behind my dad doing some
painting while he was pottering at a work surface in the utility room. I was 3ish so roughly at his bum height, and at some point stopped painting on the paper and began very carefully and gently painting the back pockets of his jeans red. He didn’t notice until my mum came in, saw what I was doing and tried very hard to tell me off while trying not to laugh.

BevBrook · 27/02/2018 13:46

Yes Dorothy Edwards Wizard. DS couldn't bear to read some of those stories when he was little, she was so naughty - especially the one where she and bad Harry ate all the birthday trifle. And the one where she cut up her bridesmaid dress.

inashizzle · 27/02/2018 15:18

After paying for a meal I felt my bum being pinched, quite a cheeky pinch. My head shot around, fierce faced, to a man who looked startled but amused. Just before I verbally laid into him, I noticed my then 5 year old and realised she'd done it for mischief. The man said she was hillarious, handed her £20, said it'd made his day.

ReelingLush18 · 27/02/2018 15:49

When I was about four I used to sneak downstairs every Sunday morning to eat a spoonful of golden syrup Blush.
