Christmas can be a time to be with family, indulge in all your favourite foods, share gifts and have some well needed relaxation. However it can also be quite hectic, particularly within the kitchen all that food has to be stored and cooked somewhere! With that being said, AO want you to share how you get your kitchen ready for the Christmas period.

Here’s what AO have to say: “At AO we’ve got Christmas wrapped up, helping take the stress out of the festive season. We know that Christmas is more than the decorations and the presents, your home has to be ready too. Don’t risk a kitchen disaster when you're elbow deep in sprouts and cranberry sauce!

So deck your kitchen out with our fantastic deals. Think large capacity ovens and cookers for the BIGGEST turkey and all the trimmings, fridge freezers for stocking up on all those snacks and drinks and dishwashers to make that post-Christmas clean up a dream. You can even buy now and pay nothing for 12 months on selected appliances, so you can cook, toast and feast to your heart’s content.

When you shop with AO, you can rest assured we'll make it easy for you, with 1000s of appliances to choose from, delivered and installed in time for the big day. So you can concentrate on planning the best Christmas, ever!”

Do you decorate your kitchen to give it a Christmassy feel? Perhaps you have an ‘eat up everything in the fridge’ dinner to clear some space for the Christmas food? Maybe you buy extra kitchen utensils to ensure you’re not short of anything on the big day?

Whatever you do to get your kitchen prepared for Christmas, post it on the thread below and every MNer who posts will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky winner will randomly selected to receive a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I clear out the freezer and run it down at the beginning g of Nov so I can start stashing away xmas stuff.
I used to have an under counter fridge so xmas was a mega game of fridge Tetris and all drinks were out outside the back door to stay cool!! We now have a tall fridge in a walk in cupboard and it’s amazing!! Especially at xmas!

littleme96 · 21/10/2017 19:36

We decorate the kitchen table, have a candle arch in the kitchen window and put a little tree up on the corner of the worktop.

We eat up things from the freezer to make space for the Christmas food. I buy a Christmas treat or two every week with my food shop to put away from about now (drink, crisps, chocolates etc).

Makemineacabsauv · 21/10/2017 19:42

We’ve already started eating everything in the freezer and chest freezer so roll on some weird n wonderful dinners in November! I have also started stocking up on little bits n bobs for Christmas and hiding them away from food hoover teen DS! We have fairy lights and those lovely dried chilliest in a wee wreath type decorations for a festive Christmas in the kitchen and the booze cupboard is fully stocked! I do need a new dishwasher and a new oven though so that would be the ultimate Christmas prep!!!

Dapootz · 21/10/2017 19:53

In our kitchen, Everything in the freezer gets eaten to make room for all of the extra food at Christmas. Usually get the Christmas tea towels out to make the kitchen more festive.

cocochips · 21/10/2017 19:59

DEcorate the kitchen to get into the mood

Rachdayan · 21/10/2017 20:12

The fridge gets a deep clean, the cupboards get a clear out of unnecessary bit and pieces and we have some bizarre combinations for meals in the lead up to the big Christmas food shop to make room in the fridge and freezer.

haveagobletofblood · 21/10/2017 20:32

Don't do any extra cleaning. I do stock it with loads of booze though and ridiculously priced snacks from M&S

Popcornandbuttons · 21/10/2017 21:21

I try and make space in the fridge for all the Christmas fresh food and buy really close to Christmas, so I don't have to worry about freezer space.

kkhimji · 21/10/2017 21:50

I hire a cleaner before xmas to make sure the kitchen is in top condition

Yesyesyesyeswhatever · 21/10/2017 22:23

Thoroughly clean the kitchen and empty as much as possible from fridge freezer and cupboards in preparation for them to be filled with Christmas food. Decorate kitchen with some fairy lights, christmassy flowers, snow flakes for windows and elf silhouettes (Scandinavian tradition).

Trinity101 · 21/10/2017 22:53

Empty the freezer!

Piffpaffpoff · 21/10/2017 22:59

I defrost the freezer and try to have it relatively empty for 1st December so I can fill it with lovely Christmassy food.

fivekidsonemum · 21/10/2017 23:01

Totally declutter the kitchen sides on Xmas eve of toaster, cup rack etc so I have a lot more space for all the dinner plates of my extended family as I have my dad & sisters over as well as my own 5 little ones. I also keep a freezer empty from October and start buying Xmas & new year food each week and store it in there separate so I don't have to rummage for the goodies to cook on the day. Oh and a good clean from top to bottom with a glass of wine in hand is a must!! WinkWine

frenchfancy89 · 21/10/2017 23:05

Deep clean the kitchen and usually defrost the fridge-freezer once i've used up everything, clean it out and then fill it back up with everything i'll need during December so i don't have to go to the shops during christmas time

Peoniesandcats · 21/10/2017 23:15

I have a winter clear out and clean so that the kitchen is ready for Christmas!

farhanac · 21/10/2017 23:33

Nothing

Stacya88 · 22/10/2017 03:11

We tidy up completely, oven cleaned, fridge freezer cleaned.. we also eat as much out of the freezer in november to get plenty of space for christmas and new year. We also shuffle the cupboards about a bit to make room for christmas nibbles and of course chocolate!!

Carebear1357 · 22/10/2017 08:11

I bought a dishwasher from you lot!!

jacqui5366 · 22/10/2017 08:34

I will wash and iron my Christmas apron, oven gloves, table cloth and snowman napkins. I will start to use all of the frozen food from my freezer, and week by week buy a 'Christmas' item with my shopping. (bottle of fizz, mince pies, sherry, crackers, the must have advent calendars for the fridge, boxes of biscuits and chocolates). I will deep clean my fridge and oven. I have a box of fairy lights which I run around my dining room ready to make the room look magical. When it is done week by week, it is easier on the budget and makes the whole build up a little less stressful.

happysouls · 22/10/2017 09:59

I have a tall Christmas tree in the kitchen and colourful fairy lights all around the room. I like them so much that they have stayed there for the last 2 years all year round! So the only thing I do for Christmas that is any different is to pull out the camping electric cool box for extra fridge space!

Lisapaige24 · 22/10/2017 10:49

My kitchen gets a deep clean the freezer defrosted and a professional oven clean at the end of November then they rarely get used as I get my slow cooker out and cook all meals using that and have the odd Take away I usually give the kitchen a lick of paint or get some new table mats and pots and pans if needed we do put fairy lights round the patio doors and windows and get some festive plants but I do like a clutter free kitchen in order to fit in all the family and have space to cook a huge Christmas dinner

MakeTeaNotWar · 22/10/2017 12:19

We don't decorate the kitchen but I do like playing cheesey Xmas tunes when doing Christmassy jobs like baking mince pies. I clear a cupboard to keep all the yummy cakes, biscuits, chocs and of course, the booze too....

vickyors · 22/10/2017 13:19

From about now, I let the freezer empty, using up things like curries and frozen meals that have been there a while (read - too long..). Then, in Nov I start shopping around, and I gradually get everything I need together.. and I do an epic clean of the cooker (why, I don’t know, as it gets so disgusting when I cook with goose fat!) love Christmas.

RaspberryRuffless · 22/10/2017 13:21

I change out the plates and bowls for christmas ones, put out the christmas tea towels, christmas table cloth and oven gloves. Make sure the oven and fridge-freezer get a good clean!

Vonklump · 22/10/2017 16:13

I really push the boat out.

I buy an oven tray large enough to fit the turkey in. To save the washing up I buy a disposable one. I consider this to be an indulgence.

I meant to eat through the contents of the deep freezer to restock it, but I keep adding to it.
