Christmas can be a time to be with family, indulge in all your favourite foods, share gifts and have some well needed relaxation. However it can also be quite hectic, particularly within the kitchen all that food has to be stored and cooked somewhere! With that being said, AO want you to share how you get your kitchen ready for the Christmas period.

Here’s what AO have to say: “At AO we’ve got Christmas wrapped up, helping take the stress out of the festive season. We know that Christmas is more than the decorations and the presents, your home has to be ready too. Don’t risk a kitchen disaster when you're elbow deep in sprouts and cranberry sauce!

So deck your kitchen out with our fantastic deals. Think large capacity ovens and cookers for the BIGGEST turkey and all the trimmings, fridge freezers for stocking up on all those snacks and drinks and dishwashers to make that post-Christmas clean up a dream. You can even buy now and pay nothing for 12 months on selected appliances, so you can cook, toast and feast to your heart’s content.

When you shop with AO, you can rest assured we'll make it easy for you, with 1000s of appliances to choose from, delivered and installed in time for the big day. So you can concentrate on planning the best Christmas, ever!”

Do you decorate your kitchen to give it a Christmassy feel? Perhaps you have an ‘eat up everything in the fridge’ dinner to clear some space for the Christmas food? Maybe you buy extra kitchen utensils to ensure you’re not short of anything on the big day?

Whatever you do to get your kitchen prepared for Christmas, post it on the thread below and every MNer who posts will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky winner will randomly selected to receive a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We know it’s Christmas time when the Christmas tea towels come out!

Jayfee · 20/10/2017 09:59

I clear out one cupboard to start collecting Christmas food treats. I already have some posh chutneys from a food fair

phillie1 · 20/10/2017 10:10

Get the xmas tableware all out and clean the cutlery drawer, as most embarassing when guests trying to put stuff back after washing up.

AR2012 · 20/10/2017 10:11

Clean surfaces and wash up as you go

pixelwife · 20/10/2017 11:24

We organise our fridge and freezer so there is plenty of space for all the lovely Christmas food. I am a bit Christmas obsessed so the kitchen gets the festive decorations like the rest of the house!!

iut044 · 20/10/2017 12:28

We just decorate the kitchen for christmas .

Blahblahblueblee · 20/10/2017 12:49

We clear out the fridge and the freezer before Christmas, we always end up being gifted food - which we love so we need the space!
Our kitchen is small so we don’t decorate it!

SuitedandBooted · 20/10/2017 13:11

I clean it, put up advent calendars, white fairy lights and a small fibre-optic tree. It's bright enough to use without the main lights, so it feel very festive (particularly after some mulled wine!)

Ranita · 20/10/2017 13:32

I like putting up a fresh green garland into the kitchen, adding dried citrus fruits and Christmas decorations is a must. We bought an extra little fridge to deal with the storage space needed.Money well spent when you are playing fridge tetris on Christmas Eve.

HELENSCRESCENT · 20/10/2017 13:42

We have a mega clean up and then we get out the christmassy crockery and glasses and even have a christmassy tea towel 😃

Dormouse1940 · 20/10/2017 13:57

Our current kitchen is far too small and cluttered as it is, don't have the space for anything else, however festive!

Having said that, we do have a few things that come out at Christmas- we have a festive teapot, mugs and pancake-pan.

And of course, there's always mince pies dotted about the place Grin

UpOnDown · 20/10/2017 14:44

Clear the out of date food from the cupboards so there is space for Christmas food.

Julieguy · 20/10/2017 15:21

I decorate every room at Christmas with a Christmas tree in every room, whether it's a large one or a small battery operated one, no room is left out. :)

PugwallsSummer · 20/10/2017 16:10

We have a tree in the kitchen. This will be our first Christmas together on our own in our own home so I'm watching other people's tips with interest!

FlowerPotMum · 20/10/2017 16:13

I scrub too to bottom, might even clean the oven a pinch!.
We also empty the freezer ( makes for some interesting meals!) Ready for Xmas feasts!.
Paper chains on the ceilings and a mini tree in the winter and we're sorted! Oh and a festive table cloth Grin

CopperPan · 20/10/2017 16:28

We have Christmas tea towels, mugs and plates. I tend to start accumulating Christmas food around October to avoid having a last minute big shop, so we start having treats like posh condiments and stollen bites scattered around as well.

Chaotica · 20/10/2017 16:37

Until this thread, I had no idea that getting the kitchen ready for xmas was a thing. I do nothing different from usual. Confused

lotte321 · 20/10/2017 16:38

Kitchen gets a thorough deep clean the week before Christmas. Freezer is cleared as much as possible, dining table is set with runner and decorations, food lists are made, cupboards are checked for condiments.

Gazelda · 20/10/2017 16:43

Start running down the freezer from October, then have a schedule of recipes to make/freeze.
I make the Christmas pud in October too.

I clear out one cupboard each week, and do a cutlery/crockery/utensils audit.

RubbishMantra · 20/10/2017 16:48

I'll just be over the moon if I have something resembling a working kitchen by Christmas - I'm planning a re-fit that should be done by then. I'll be dancing with joy at the thought of never cleaning an oven ever again because I'm having a pyrolytic one.

helly27 · 20/10/2017 18:58

We decorate the kitchen at Christmas the same as all rooms in our house, ceiling decorations, tinsel, window stickers the lot

Marg2k8 · 20/10/2017 20:23

I don't do anything different to the kitchen at all in the run up to Christmas.

Vegangelist · 20/10/2017 20:44

It's decorated with tinsel and wall/window stickers, try and empty out the cupboards during November (this also saves on grocery bills), minimal buying of general storage food items during December so January everything feels clean and clear.

cathwarbur · 20/10/2017 20:51

We stock up just before Xmas ,filling a nearly empty freezer that has food eaten within the run up weeks to be able to store xmas stuff. I always make sure there is something to cater for all diets in the family and make a list before Xmas of the order I'm cooking thing and what can be cooked in advance. I do not overbuy on food as I hate waste

sweir1 · 20/10/2017 20:57

I have a few xmas vinyls to stick on the tiles
