Christmas can be a time to be with family, indulge in all your favourite foods, share gifts and have some well needed relaxation. However it can also be quite hectic, particularly within the kitchen all that food has to be stored and cooked somewhere! With that being said, AO want you to share how you get your kitchen ready for the Christmas period.

Here’s what AO have to say: “At AO we’ve got Christmas wrapped up, helping take the stress out of the festive season. We know that Christmas is more than the decorations and the presents, your home has to be ready too. Don’t risk a kitchen disaster when you're elbow deep in sprouts and cranberry sauce!

So deck your kitchen out with our fantastic deals. Think large capacity ovens and cookers for the BIGGEST turkey and all the trimmings, fridge freezers for stocking up on all those snacks and drinks and dishwashers to make that post-Christmas clean up a dream. You can even buy now and pay nothing for 12 months on selected appliances, so you can cook, toast and feast to your heart’s content.

When you shop with AO, you can rest assured we'll make it easy for you, with 1000s of appliances to choose from, delivered and installed in time for the big day. So you can concentrate on planning the best Christmas, ever!”

Do you decorate your kitchen to give it a Christmassy feel? Perhaps you have an ‘eat up everything in the fridge’ dinner to clear some space for the Christmas food? Maybe you buy extra kitchen utensils to ensure you’re not short of anything on the big day?

Whatever you do to get your kitchen prepared for Christmas, post it on the thread below and every MNer who posts will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky winner will randomly selected to receive a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Clear out all the cupboards, defrost the freezer and give it a good clean. Then stock up on all the Christmas goodies.

donnavkebab · 30/10/2017 13:42

We go out for Christmas dinner! Leave the cleaning up, cooking and cleaning up again for someone else! Wine Wine Grin

cheryl100 · 30/10/2017 14:55

I make sure that all my kitchen has been cleaned from top to bottom and we use Christmas plates!

tabbaz123 · 30/10/2017 16:40

I absolutely clean the kitchen from head to toe so everything is sparkling before I set about destroying it with all my cooking. I do often light a Christmas candle or 2 and love keeping some mulled wine and the scent of the winter spices

lastkisstoo · 30/10/2017 16:41

The table gets a lovely Xmassy makeover, and we try to keep the place a bit tidier than normal never works

laurapotz · 30/10/2017 19:56

I run down the freezer contents to make room for a massive turkey!

prettybird · 30/10/2017 20:14

Start eating from/clearing out the freezer from November onwards so that you have plenty of space in it in the run up to Christmas (so that you can cook/bake in advance and freeze).

Get knives sharpened.

ThePug · 30/10/2017 21:38

I abandon my kitchen and go and stay with the in laws for Christmas week!

biffyboom · 30/10/2017 21:49

Eat up the odds and ends of random foods in the freezer to make way for meats and plenty desserts.

manfalou · 30/10/2017 21:52

Use cinnamon zoflora in the steam mop and get out the santa cookie jar! Make sure theres enough room in the fridge for the turkey.

AnnieHoo · 30/10/2017 22:13

My slightly naff carol singer ornaments go in the windowsill and fairy lights round the window. Christmas tea towel, oven gloves and apron comes out. I have bowls of satsumas and selections of nuts in the counter.

glmcall123 · 30/10/2017 22:24

I just give everything a good clean and clear out the cupboards and freezer.

rhinosuze · 30/10/2017 23:14

A big defrosting of the freezer, clean the oven and prepare so there's plenty of work surface to use. I like to have a Christmas apron and tea towel too to get me in the mood

libra101 · 31/10/2017 06:36

My kitchen is 'compact', and every space has to count!

I get rid of clutter on worktops which has accumulated to make space for Christmas fayre. Usually the fridge has a good clean so that turkey, cakes, trifles and other treats can fit in easily, and I usually clean the oven.

Sometimes I stick a bit of tinsel and glitter round the wall cupboards, but as we usually party in the lounge, the kitchen doesn't receive other special attention.

Flisspaps · 31/10/2017 07:51

I have a peeling Ikea kitchen. I prepare it for Christmas by spending as little time as possible in it, I hate it.

Clear out the freezer and eat the stuff that's been in their a while, then give the kitchen the love it deserves by giving it a deep clean all ready to mess up again, lol.

rocketriffs · 31/10/2017 08:24

I get Christmas themed aprons and chef hats for the family as they all like to muck in and help with the xmas food preparation.

allibaby · 31/10/2017 08:30

I have a small pre-lit Christmas tree on my kitchen windowsill and Christmas themed magnets on my fridge.
I also like to give it a thorough clean before the big day arrives.

CordeliaScott · 31/10/2017 08:36

Right now I’ll be buying a new freezer as DS (18 months) has managed to snap the door off the current one. Angry

Yawningalldaylong · 31/10/2017 09:21

I try to make the kitchen a welcoming, festive place, as there’s so much activity that goes on in there. I let the kids decorate table cloths and place mats, we have a spare little fridge for all the extra food, and I try and tidy the cupboards to make space for the special ingredients, just to make them easy to get hold of.

Torres10 · 31/10/2017 11:26

Well this year will be different as I currently have a blank space to put my new kitchen in before the end of November ( with a fair wind) so I will be putting my sparkly new kitchen in just in time and am hoping it will be it's own decoration as I will be too scared to put decorations up on the new paintwork!!

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 31/10/2017 12:33

I just try to make sure I have got rid of anything I don't 100% need so I have a bit of extra room. Very sparse on the decorations though as they just get in the way!

itsali · 31/10/2017 12:35

I love lights and candles in the kitchen to set the scene and add ambience, especially as we spend plenty of Christmas preparing in there.

zebedee01 · 31/10/2017 12:41

The only thing I do to prepare my kitchen for Christmas is give it a good clean and make sure it is full of yummy food!

HairsprayBabe · 31/10/2017 12:47

We do have a ‘eat up everything in the fridge’ dinner night, twice a year once before we go on our summer holiday and once just before the big christmas delivery.

DP calls it Feast Night it is his favorite night of the year and actively looks forward to it!
