Overspending on your mortgage? Tell Habito what you'd spend the money saved with a remortgage on - £300 to be won NOW CLOSED

Online mortgage broker Habito want to get folks thinking about remortgaging - did you know...that according to HSBC analysis, one in four British homeowners, (3 million people), are currently overspending on their mortgage by an average of £4,000 a year because they have stayed on their lender's standard variable rate (SVR). By remortgaging, homeowners on an SVR could save between £300-£400 a month (on average)*?

Habito say "we believe that no one should be left overpaying on an SVR. Thousands of homeowner's initial mortgage rates will mature in the next six weeks** which means they will automatically be moved on to an SVR. But, with interest rates still low, it is the best time ever to remortgage. We are a free online mortgage broker that promises to get you the best mortgage out there, then ensure you’re on the best deal, every day, for as long as you need it”.

With this in mind, they’d love to know what you’d do with an extra £300-£400 a month in your family? A massive family holiday? A new car? Treats for the kids? Or would you save it and put it towards a new home in the future?

Share your thoughts on this thread and you will be entered into a prize draw where one person will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice!

save it towards retirement - anything to be able to retire a couple of years earlier!

Loftzilla · 13/10/2017 09:30

Definitely a new car, babies born on the day I bought my car have grown up and already taken their GCSEs! It's that old!

wef1984 · 13/10/2017 09:51

We'd be able to save a deposit to buy our own house

jen1984j · 13/10/2017 10:46

It would have to be weekends away and days out. We dont spend enough time together as a family

francislee1976 · 13/10/2017 11:30

i would take many more holidays

sarahw2 · 13/10/2017 11:47

I'd take my boys to Orlando - Disney World and all the parks. We haven't been on holiday for 2 years so it would be really amazing!

zebedee01 · 13/10/2017 13:48

If we had an extra £300-400 per month we would be able to do up our flat! I would also like to save some money for a deposit on a house in the future x

CatRash · 13/10/2017 14:04

Extension as we only have a little 2-bedroom house!

emiai · 13/10/2017 14:14

Id have to say itll be put towards the cost of Christmas, since moving - we have had non stop leaks and repairs required that has utterly drained both myself and the bank account.

The people who we bought from did well to conceal the extent of it behind layers of wallpaper or boxed in pipes.

Squina1 · 13/10/2017 14:29

I would start paying off our mortgage, which is currently interest only.

kel1981 · 13/10/2017 14:36

we'd use it to save for a family holiday!

bibopalubop · 13/10/2017 16:25

I'm a big saver so I'd put it away anything extra I got but I'd like to think I'd spend it on something the whole family could enjoy like a holiday to America - memories last forever!

jimmyadon05 · 13/10/2017 17:01

It would have to be a special holiday abroad. My son is 15 next summer so we are running out of opportunities to go away as a family .

ptak5566 · 13/10/2017 18:21

Florida here we come!!! lol ... x

Brandypie · 13/10/2017 18:57

I'd be boring and save what I could! it's nice to have money put aside for those emergencies that always seem to crop up when money is short.

sammylea80 · 13/10/2017 19:05

I'd spend it on the dental work that I need doing! Anything to stop these headaches caused by my jaw :(

Jocelynne123 · 13/10/2017 19:16

I would split it. I would use half to do nice things with my family like going out for a meal, trips out etc. The other half I would put in a savings account for my daughter. It's so hard for young people to buy a house so it would be lovely to have a deposit for her when she's older and needs it xx

Byrdie · 13/10/2017 19:28

Ohh extra cash would go to... erm... probably very unexcitingly to savings.

piggypoo · 13/10/2017 20:13

Some money in the Piggy bank, then some towards a holiday!

TiggersAngel7774 · 13/10/2017 20:46

melmoo · 13/10/2017 21:03

Holdays - we didn't get one this year and you can tell.

TLAF · 13/10/2017 21:08

A proper winter sun family holiday! Caribbeans here we come!

Dessallara · 13/10/2017 21:10

Family holiday and bigger Christmas :)

Emmamaryd · 13/10/2017 21:22

A nice holiday

Gill81uk · 13/10/2017 21:37

I would use it to give the kids some nice mini breaks each month, they both love staying in hotels. I'd love to take them to Blackpool, Alton Towers, Warwick Castle, Gulliers and Legoland to start with :D
