My DC love to play volcano adventures throughout the house with "rules" that change constantly. Certain floor tiles are lava, the sofa is safety, pillows and cushions are flotsam and jetsam on a wild open ocean to which the cling for safety. This all goes on for hours.....

My son went out into the garden with no socks or shoes on, in the rain to help rescue the woodlice from the bad weather!

We had a real life Lassie moment with our DD when she was six. Myself and her daddy, her baby sister and two older brothers decided to go fishing at a large Lake nearby, and when we arrived she begged to go with her older brothers and the Dog for a walk round while me and Dad set things up.
We agreed, but what seemed like only moments later the dog came bounding back barking like crazy, I could hear my sons shouting for me and their dad and hearts in mouth we raced to them, following the dog!
Our little adventurer had been climbing a sturdy looking tree, when she had slipped, straight into what looked like the mud, but was more like sinking-mulch! She was up to her neck almost in the stuff, and it stunk!
We were able to get close enough to pull her out, waiting for the cries, the screams as the fear set in, but instead the only reason she cried was because she had had her brothers Spiderman figure in her coat pocket and it got lost during the adventure!
My daughter still loves her fishing though! lol

My 4 year old has been obsessed with the smurf films on Netflix this week, only she calls them smorks for some reason.

She ran off and hid from us in a Supermarket once. I thought she was with DH, he thought she was with me. Mass panic when we realised she was with neither of us. She was found in the toy aisle at the back of a shelf hiding because we hadn't let her buy something.

DD2 climbed up the kitchen drawers to get into the work surface then opened the top cupboard and was trying to figure out how to get inside to reach the peanut butter jar when I found her. She was 2 at the time.

Had an few fantastic holidays in early June in Brittany when the children were at infant school. (Back then the school was fine about term time holidays, there was just a form you had to fill in to tell them the dates - and it was really phrased as telling them, not asking!)

The weather was fine for us - shorts and a fleece type of weather but the beaches were all pretty much deserted as I guess it wasn't warm enough for locals to spend time at the beach,. We would set up base camp and the kids would take themselves off to set up their own camp - always in plain view of us but they really loved the feeling of freedom of being on a vast beach and not being near to us. So different to being on a crowded beach where you need to keep children right next to you.

A seemingly ordinary walk to the shops / park / nursery can turn into an epic pirate adventure for DS! He'll pretend the kerb is the plank, the cars are sharks, pigeons are parrots, and other people are 'me hearties' (he's always the captain)! We have to look for treasure (ie. a twig) and talk in 'pirate' all the way Grin

We found an amazing beer garden with a stream running through it last summer. The DC spent hours making dens on the other side of the stream. It had a log bridge and stepping stones. They also constructed a slingshot to guard their side!

We were out shopping when DD was 5 when she decided she wanted to look at the children's books. I asked her older brother to stay with her. Unfortunately, he got distracted and she wandered off to look at some pretty Disney colouring books. She looked around and couldn't see him so proceeded to search the entire shop- whilst we evidently realised she was lost but searched in the opposite direction. Unfortunately we were in France and she couldn't speak a word of French other than 'Bonjour'; we were very relieved when they announced over the tannoy that they had found a lost child! She won't be repeating that adventure soon!!

My youngest used to sit in the cupboard under the stairs and go on epic adventures for ages - he would pretend he was on a ship and take a lot of soft toys with him. He would happily entertain himself there and used to sneak packets of crisps and drinks to keep himself going.

Shame he doesn't do it anymore. One reason being there's no space left there as it's full of stuff now.

DD's ambition in life when she was eighteen months old was to climb through the hatch into the kitchen. She got quite inventive in what she would climb on to get to the table which was in front of the hatch. When DS was 2 we were in Debenhams early one morning. I was looking at new trousers for him and somehow without either me or DH noticing he vanished - literally in a matter of seconds. We searched the floor we were on and then, heart racing by now, I nipped down the escalator to search the floor below. When I came back up DH was holding a sheepish DS by the hand - he had decided to hide inside one of the racks of clothes which was why we hadn't spotted him at all.

Before my dd turned 2 we used to pop her in the playpen with a few toys when we needed to keep her safe whilst doing certain jobs. One day I did this but when I went to check on her she was gone. I panicked and began running through each room shouting her name. I even checked some rooms twice as I simply could not find her the first time! I eventually found her in our shower cubicle - she had slid the door shut behind her and was happily playing with some wet Dove soap she ate a little. I was mortified at the time as we never knew she was tall enough to climb out! Now we just laugh about it and remember fondly the soapy little kisses we shared!

DD’s most recent adventure was her detective birthday party. Friends dressed up in disguise, attended ‘training’ exercises and were sent on a super clue hunt to track down missing jewellery (candy bracelets). The adventure was filled with laughter, tracking evidence, more laughter, solving riddles and a team hug at the finale!

When my DS was eight, he packed a bag with some clothes and ran away to the garage to live in the unlocked car. He lasted about 20 minutes before getting bored and coming back inside.

Everything is an adventure to our toddler! This does require eyes in the back of your head, as he obviously has no concept of danger and will head for the road/water/whatever is least suitable. After a shy child who never ventured more than about 6 inches from my side this one's a bit different!

I love that when we go through a few trees to DD it's a forest. The old dilapidated house in the park is where Cinderella lives. Gruffalos and bears can be lurking round ever corner. The joy of being 4 Smile

I love it when my DS chats to himself and makes up stories. I often don't understand what he is talking about and then I will here a phrase that I recognise, from a TV show or a book, and realise he is building his own little adventure in his mind. Its so cute to listen to.

We love going on adventures at our local National Trust sites - we explore, make dens, cross rivers on stones - and the children's imagination never ceases to amaze and inspire me!! Lost in the jungle is a current favourite theme!

We took our kids on holiday to visit family last Christmas and my DD decided the airplane was a rocket going to the moon. She told everyone who'd listen we're going to the moon. Once we landed I thought she'd be disappointed but she took one look at the snow and said "see told ya we're going to the moon" lol We were in Norway. PKids, lol.

My twins have 'discovered' a rarely visited area of our local park they call 'lost world' - every so often something new appears there like a fairy house, or a miniature model of the mad hatters tea party and they enjoy spending hours being part of this magical land before we have to go back to reality!

DS and I took a trip to DGPs caravan in a beautiful part of the Scottish countryside. Surrounded by thick rhododendron bushes, trees and a muddy path to the Loch, DS thought we were in fairy land, and kept trying to run into the various "dens" around the Loch to find the magic creatures. He is only 2, so not quite ready for the all day treks through the woods that his mummy (me) used to do!

My youngest has an adventurous spirit, we have just moved to a much larger house and we are often losing him. Usually the quest in mind is to find biscuits or chocolate but one time I discovered him in the utility loading our washing machine!

My DD's (8) best adventure was our family holiday to California last summer. She loved exploring Disneyland and Universal Studios, and playing on the beach in the hot Cali sun. Flowers

On a related note she is very excited for the new Lost Village film; we both loved the first two films, the second one being one of her favourite films (because she liked that Smurfette got another little girl Smurf to play with Smile)!
