Lidl, as a proud partner of grassroots football across England, Scotland and Wales, are encouraging children to get involved in football and lead an active healthy lifestyle, but they know that fuelling budding sports stars can be tricky.

So they'd love to hear how you keep your DCs fuelled after charging round a football pitch, netball court, or each other! Maybe you make a mean energy bar to stick in a sports bag - or a super quick supper you can have on the table in minutes after a long game? Whatever it is, share all the details of your recipe, and of course any photos of your food in action would be great too!

Share your ideas below and you will be entered into a prize draw where you could win one of five £50 Lidl vouchers.

Thanks and good luck

Just a banana seems to be the best snack for after swimming

WellDoYaPunk · 21/06/2016 10:17

Banana pancakes:
1 banana, 1 egg & handful of oats whizzed up in food processor
Makes 2 very filling thick American style pancakes Smile

Chocolate banana bread is good (add choc chips to your favourite banana bread recipe).

A peanut butter sandwich goes a long way to keeping energy up. I like white bread for a lot of other things, but this is especially nice on seedy brown bread.

Rigbyroo · 21/06/2016 20:55

Mine love 'fishy pasta' salmon, broccoli, peas, pasta, spinach and creme Fraiche, a favourite here.

ladygoingGaga · 21/06/2016 22:45

Another oat fan here, have lots of variations and depends what's in the cupboard honestly, but usually contain sunflowers and pumpkin seeds, chopped dried fruit like apricots, cranberries or dates.
A great secret ingredient is a good dollop of peanut butter.

A huge winner with my DS after school after sports and when I make him walk miles on a weekend

All make for a moist flap jack, or as my son has renamed 'Jack Flap' . That keeps for 5 days easily, if hidden well Grin

We make smoothies with mix of veg and fruit, but our three year old's favourite thing is frozen fruit and veg as a snack- Frozen sweetcorn, peas, spinach at a push., ( I know.. Weird!)

For hot food-eggy bread..I wrap in foil and pick her up from nursery when she's really tired and she wolfs it down..

My kids love cheesy biscuits as an on the go snack (flour, butter, cheese and an egg)
I also like to have baked potatoes cooked which can easily be reheated then lots of lovely toppings added to make a quick meal when getting home later or before we rush out to something.

We do a toasted pitta bread filled with rice peas mushrooms tomatoes onions chicken and melted mozzarella. Nice and quick can also used the same ingredients with stuffed peppers or beef tomatoes.
Our kids also like rocky road so we do a thin version made with dark chocolate raisins cherries low fat digestive biscuits and mini marshmallows. All really simple and made in seconds for after swimming and dancing.

No matter what the seater is, any activity will make them hot and sweaty, so they need to cool down Blush!
I like to blend greek yogurt with banana, berries and a bit of honey, divide it into small cups and put it on the freezer for the night. The result? yummy healthy home-made frozen yogurt! x

After footie we tend to have at DC's request, veggie "footballs" with pasta and home made tomato sauce. Filling and nutritious! :)
