Have you ever turned your back for what seemed like seconds only to return to a pencil/crayon ‘work of art’ on your newly painted walls? Has there ever been an ‘incident’ involving a TV and a football? Have your children ever wreaked havoc with an unguarded tin of paint? If so, Valspar wants to know.

Valspar say "With great durability, Valspar Paint can withstand even the toughest parts of daily living and maintain its colour (even hundreds of scrubs!). So if those tiny, mucky hands and colouring crayons go astray – fear not. We have made sure you can scrub away the mess without the worry of taking a layer of paint off too – just in case your little one does decide to release their inner Picasso on your living room walls."

So, what are the most awful, or funniest, things that your children have done to your house while your back was turned? Whether the crime was big or small, Valspar would love to hear your stories.

Everyone who adds a comment to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

My DD practiced writing her name....in biro...on multiple items of furniture. I didn't even notice until the following day.

My DC decided that my nice new plain cream three piece suite needed jazzing up with some lovely felt-tip pen drawings!!!

A friend was having a barbecue, and her Ds (4) went into the house to use the toilet. He came back out 5 minutes later, and was playing with his friends, but he seemed a bit nervous. About 5 minutes after, someone noticed a bit of smoke coming from the house, adults all rushed in to see what was happening, fire brigade were called, etc.
Friends Ds had found a lighter, and set fire to the toilet roll. There wasn't a great deal left of the house, and they were in temporary accommodation for months while it was rebuilt.

I've been really lucky, the worst I've had was some accidental marks on the stair wall as my resident artist flounced downstairs with a felt tip in her hand, then when a teenager she sat on the settee balancing her cup of coffee on the dralon arm, it made an impression which is there to this day.

Little one stuck sanitary towels all over the house. I think that's quite a common trick :)

When we were repapering the hall I let both children help me strip the walls. After they had gone to bed and were out of the way we did the papering. Next morning I got up to find them pulling the new paper of the walls

They painted my bedroom & carpet with my nail varnish. Those little bottles go a long way.

I caught my sons drawing on the back of the door and bathroom cabinet. I also caught the little terror with a fruit shoot bottle squeezing it on the sofa. Luckily it was only once.

Well last week my grandson wanted his bedroom dercorated in Bob the builder, so off we go and bought some..That afternoon we put all the wall paper up,painted the top half and put lovely bob the builder curtains up..

Me and his mum went down stairs to have some tea and cake and sked him to join us, but he wanted to play in his new bedroom...

He was very quite and not like him lol..so we went up stairs to find out what was going on....Well all i can say is the wall paper was torn off the wall in bids..On asking why he done it, he replied mum i don't like bob the builder anymore, he keeps looking at me :/

All i can say is that he has all the walls painted now, just incase he changes his mind and draw over them...Hope it does not continue for long!

Mine were playing hide and seek, pulled out the settee and managed to catch the leg on the radiator pipe. Water everywhere, living room carpet sodden, it was a right mess.

i had a big family size tub of sudo cream it was on offer so thought it was a bargain. after changing my daughter one afternoon and putting her down for a nap i went to hang washing outside as it was a lovely day. i was just about finished when my daughter came into the garden she was about 2 at the time, she had stripped off and smothered herself in the cream. i couldnt believe it but when i took her into the house to try and clean her up i discovered she had also covered the sittingroom, walls, carpet and furniture. i nearly died, what a job cleaning it up, not easy stuff to shift is sudo cream.

My LG decided to help be my feeding the fish, unfortunately she decided to use a whole tin of beans! I heard a smash and went into the kitchen to find a smashed fishtank and a floor full of water and fish!

katieskatie82 · 10/03/2016 20:31

my ds decided to squirt fairy liquid all over my kitchen. Not just in the kitchen but the trail led out to the garden and he'd covered the path and conifers aswell!!
