Do it quickly and use your legs if necessary.

Gill81uk · 10/06/2015 22:39

Cut an old towel into small strips, and pop one over babies bits as soon as nappy is removed. This stops them weeing everywhere. (usually!)

knitnut24 · 10/06/2015 22:56

never rush and make sure you have everything to hand before you start.

fluffyblueberry · 10/06/2015 23:01

I always have everything right to hand - nappy, wipes and nappy sacks! Put the clean nappy underneath the dirty one ready to go - then clean and slide the dirty nappy out, revealing clean underneath. x

Lydia30 · 10/06/2015 23:36

Like many other people have said, make sure everything is to hand before you start. Oh, and make sure you don't put the used nappy (even if it's in a bag) anywhere the dog can reach it.

TiggersAngel7774 · 11/06/2015 02:48

always keep the willy covered with nappy i didnt one day and my son did 6ft arch over me and soak his chest of drawers

chr1ssy0908 · 11/06/2015 06:04

Oh my....just make sure you have everything to hand once your babies are mobile.....how frustrating it is to plonk my dd down, find that I havent got the wipes near me and after collecting them found that she has done a runner!!

embabes7 · 11/06/2015 08:12

Do it on the floor, and get your next nappy and wipes ready before removing the used nappy! Then you dont have to move... also bring a toy to distract baby!

chrriss · 11/06/2015 09:20

Be prepared with everything to hand... Slip the new one in place over the old and then slide off the old one.

hannahlw85 · 11/06/2015 11:03

Get absolutely everything ready before even thinking to start taking the nappy off, remember to either put the nappy back over double quick or put a wipe over a boy to you don't end up being peed in the face, get it done as quick as possible, and an old towel over the changing mat so it can be put in the wash and is easier to clean up any accidents.

StuffedCrustPizza · 11/06/2015 11:20

Keep the change mat in the warmest room in the house. Also leave the top half on baby as much as possible. We also let DD choose her own nappy and get the pack of wipes out for each nappy change at home. Makes her feel like she has more control over it.

sweetnuttydogs · 11/06/2015 12:22

When changing your nappy make sure your baby has a toy or even something to focus on. Also make sure you have everything you need before starting

mummyto2boys01 · 11/06/2015 12:23

Have everything ready before you take the nappy off - I learnt this the hard way! (wee all over the place!!)

andy07 · 11/06/2015 12:32

Make sure you have everything to hand before you even start.

Dessallara · 11/06/2015 13:51

I was giving my baby a rattle to hold or talking with her and singing songs while changing nappy :)

ikkle87 · 11/06/2015 14:30

be prepared - get everything ready before you start, including getting a few wipes out of the packet as you can guarantee if its a poop and the baby is wriggly you will struggle to get wipes out while keeping them from spreading muck all over

Ryancrawshaw · 11/06/2015 15:22

always have something to divert attention, she then lies still and plays with that usually long enough to whip that the nappy off.

helcrai · 11/06/2015 16:12

I have two girls and was always worried out "poo explosions" when we were out, leaking out of their nappies. To try & avoid this I always had an extra layer over their nappies- either a pair of tights or leggings or some nice frilly knickers if they were wearing a dress. Certainly helped a few times!
To distract my little ones at nappy changing time as they got older and more wriggly, I used to put their changing mat on their play mat that had a mobile hanging over it- they would be distracted while I did my lightening quick change!

reenu · 11/06/2015 17:32

always have everything ready before you start and try to engange them in a song or a nursery rhyme or may be a story with lots of facial expressions!

caramal · 11/06/2015 17:37

Always carry nappies, wipes, changing mat, nappy bags and a spare pair of bottoms/vest in your changing bag.
I often gave my son something to play with whilst changing, as having to clean his wondering hands too made nappy changes more difficult.
Reassure your child, especially if they have nappy rash. Your soothing voice may help them to relax.

jacqroberts68 · 11/06/2015 18:55

Be quick and thorough and always carry a sanitizer when out, wipe before laying your baby down. But have to admit being disabled I always used my knees as it was far easier for me than a changing mat.

kel1981 · 11/06/2015 20:19

Singing nursery rhymes seems to keep them still long enough to change their nappy!

cdnkt6 · 11/06/2015 22:02

I lay my 20 month old sons changing mat on the floor and have a nappy, wipes paper towels and cream ready next to it before lying my son down and playing a song from in the night garden i have recorded and as he listens to the song i take his nappy off and clean and dry him leave his nappy off a few minutes then put cream and nappy back on with no problems.

tishist · 11/06/2015 23:19

Sing to them to make the experience a bit more fun!

eteo · 12/06/2015 00:00

turn the child side to side than lift up both of their legs. it is good for their spine and also save you energy!
