Tesco have asked us to find out what the most amusing things Mumsnetters' DCs have said about their food.

Here’s what Tesco say, “Studies show that almost a third of primary school pupils believe that cheese comes from plants. Our Farm to Fork initiative is trying to help children to understand where their food comes from. Farm to Fork Trail Guides are dispelling all sorts of food myths for the children visiting our stores, but we’d love to hear what your DCs say at home”

So, what crackers have your kids come up with around the table? Perhaps they have their own creative theories on where their food comes from? Or do they have some particularly interesting names for their food?

Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who adds their thoughts to the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Tesco voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

My niece was asked where butter comes from, she had a good think and then suggested 'butterflies?'Grin

My 4 year old daughter called me an "incompetent cook"!! So obviously she knows more than I do!

Any fruit comes from a tree, peas from a tree, bread from home ( I make it) and my 3 year old says every thing else comes from tesco.
Except hotdogs, they come from preschool :)

"sweets are healthy..." nice try ds but no.

ds: are weetabix protect food? (they are doing healthy eating at school.)

we have had some very awkward conversations about chips. (starchy=slow energy but the fat makes them go in the schools fast energy not good category, however oven chips are cooked in different oil... arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg)

ds: what is beef?
dd: dead cow

ds: blue milk has more fat than green milk, green milk has more fat than orange milk, orange milk has more fat than red milk. will I like orange milk?
me: no you don't like green milk so orange milk will be worse...

ds: what about purple milk?
me: tesco don't sell purple milk any more I can't remember

he did not want the green peas, just the yellow peas. (sweetcorn)

Not my child, but my younger brother "Why are you making placenta cupcakes?". They were parmesan and pancetta savoury cupcakes... Hmm
