The team at Flora have asked us to find out about Mumsnetters' signature family dishes.

Here's what Flora have to say:

“We all want everyday food that’s tasty, nutritious and simple to prepare but with busy lives, that’s not always easy. We’ve taken on the challenge to help, and have launched Gold from Flora – a blend of butter and Flora* with a rich, creamy taste, a natural winner at any time of the day. It’s great for spreading on toast, makes lunchtime sandwiches tasty, and vegetables taste better at dinner too. We'd love to hear about your signature dish and how you make it special.”

So what’s your signature dish? Maybe it’s the meal you can make in no time at all, with just a handful of simple, quality ingredients? Or perhaps it’s a dish that you've perfected over the years, that everyone is guaranteed to love? Maybe you can make impressive roast potatoes? Or know the secret to perfect, tasty vegetables?

Whatever your signature dish is, Flora would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Flora's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Lasagne. Bloody gorgeous.

passthetequila · 09/06/2014 00:07

Favorite if I am cooking is tortilla wraps with spicy chicken, pepper and onion filling. Sour cream, cheese, salsa, gaucomole, refried beans are optional extras.

DH's signature dish is chicken pie. Delicious and never any leftovers.

PotatoPolly · 09/06/2014 00:43

definitely fish pie! Chunky pieces of haddock, salmon, cod and prawns, cheese sauce and fluffy buttery mash on the top... heaven!

NicNak71 · 09/06/2014 01:05

My signature dish is chicken tikka masala, made from scratch, I even make my own spice paste and homemade naan bread too. There are never any leftovers with this dish.

Mine is a chicken pie and I think of it as my signature dish as its the one meal everybody in my family loves which is really saying something because my daughters are really picky eaters. Its made with puff pastry and I cheat and buy the ready made Jus Rol puff pastry.

You fry your onion ( 1 large chopped) in some butter and when onion starts to soften add your chopped mushrooms and fry for a further 1 minute. Now add the plain flour into the onion and mushrooms and keep stirring, I use a balloon whisk for this task. Gradually add milk stirring and combining everything well, using your balloon whisk vigorously to do this prevents a lumpy sauce. Lastly add your cubed chicken (cut into bite size pieces please). Stir into the onion mushroom and sauce mix. You aren't aiming to cook the chicken at this stage just combine everything well. Transfer your chicken mixture into a big pie dish and roll out your ready made pastry to fit the top. Cook in a hot oven for about 45 mins, serve with vegetables and roast potatoes.

Our household's signature dish is lemon and rocket pasta, with olives and capers. It's delicious and the best thing about it is that my husband can cook it perfectly competently! When I was hospitalised in 2009 with appendicitis, peritonitis and septicaemia, he couldn't cook one flaming thing (well, maybe he could cook a flaming thing, but only if you didn't remind replacing 3 pans and part of the kitchen wall afterwards). When I came out of hospital I was too ill to cook for months, and he had to learn how. This was one of his first dinners that actually worked - and it's delicious too. We still have it every couple of weeks.

Cook some pasta. Fry up some garlic, bread crumbs and chillies in lots of olive oil. Stir it through the pasta, with lemon zest, lemon juice, big handfuls of rocket, olives and capers. Add lots of Parmesan.

My husband can cook beautifully now. Since we had our first child, he cooks almost every night. And very rarely sets fire to anything.

My signature dish is mince pies. I have people asking me from September if I've made my mincemeat yet, and asking if they could buy a dozen once I start baking Grin. My recipe is formed from a combination of a couple of the many I've tried over the years, and I have very cold hands which is supposed to be good for pastry-making, and I'm very generous with the nuts and brandy Grin

Pulled pork.

Large joint of pork
large bottle of coke
ketchup

Place the pork in a slow cooker and cover with coke. Leave for 14 hours on low. Take the pork out and "shred" with a fork. Put aside. Take the left over coke and add 150 mls of ketchup to it in a pan. Heat on high for around 15 minutes and you are left with a gorgeous bbq sauce to toss your pulled pork in. Great served hot or cold. In sandwiches, rolls, salads, on its own with nothing but a massive bowl and a smile.

Ginger Hollows. Really scrummy biscuits which have a hollow centre and a chewy base...and you can make them with Flora!

rachaelsit · 09/06/2014 12:26

My signature dish during pregnancy has been caramel shortbread. Flora gold makes gorgeous shortbread!! The best thing is I even have my other half making it now, which is a bonus! We love flora gold because it's tasty and better for us all than butter!

Nouseforausername · 09/06/2014 13:49

got to be spag bol or chilli here Grin

MNGreenwich · 09/06/2014 13:50

Chicken Zorba:

3 chicken breasts
1tsp turmeric
1tsp cumin
1tsp ground coriander
juice of 2 limes
sprinkling of chopped fresh mint.

Marinate overnight/for a couple of hours.

To cook, you can either skewer with peppers and onions and pop on the BBQ or stir fry it in the marinade.

Serve with hot toasted pittas and a natural yoghurt/houmous mix.

yummum120 · 09/06/2014 17:09

Pan fried seasoned chicken breasts using Flora cuisine, with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

goldenretriever1978 · 09/06/2014 21:39

Banana loaf, made with flora. Always a fail safe.

Roseformeplease · 09/06/2014 21:42

Curry.....DH does all the cooking and makes pretty much anything into an amazing curry. We had fridge leftover chicken curry with rice tonight but sometimes we buy in the ingredients specially.

lepetitchienbrun · 09/06/2014 22:56

Pancakes! Love them all year not just Shrove Tuesday.

Also, lasagna with really strong cheese and crushed crisps on top to make it extra crunchy.

ThingsThatShine · 09/06/2014 23:58

Macaroni cheese or chicken and veg smoky fajitas

ditsygal · 10/06/2014 10:38

Our signature family dish is Roasted Veg and Cheese pasta bake - a creamy yummy cheesy sauce I can make with my eyes closed and a mix of peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and courgettes roasted in the oven, all mixed with pasta, a little more cheese grated on the top and put in the oven for 30 minutes. Served with a fresh green salad, it is proper comfort food and so tasty its always a treat!

OrdinaryGirl · 10/06/2014 14:59

It's got to be lasagne made from scratch. Serves with petits pois or a green salad. The most comforting, tasty dinner all year round. The secret for keeping my family and friends happy is to make it in a wider dish than it needs so that there's more surface area to go satisfyingly chewy.

Twitterqueen · 10/06/2014 15:28

Potato crush and pesto chicken

peel and chop potates as you would for mashing.
5 mins before ready, add small chopped chunks of squash.
2 mins before ready, add frozen peas.

Drain, add huge dollop of Flora, pepper & a little salt.
Then chop through with a fork - don't mash, CRUSH!

chicken fillets cooked very gently in a saucepan with the lid on, with a tablespoon or so of pesto

(This is the only way I can get my DCs to eat squash and peas!)

Twitterqueen · 10/06/2014 15:29

I forgot the herbs! I always add loads of chives and basil too - or sage. Whatever herbs you like really.

mjmooseface · 10/06/2014 16:17

Not a masterpiece but I make cracking mashed potato! I add milk and butter and a dash of pepper.

I once played around and made a cheesy mashed potato and bacon bake! It was delicious. I haven't made it in a while so I think I will now! ;)

I reckon I can cook really well in theory... I just don't have the space or proper utensils and pots and dishes etc to cook amazing meals! One day!! I have lots of recipes to try out when we're properly sorted, kitchen wise!

Aquarius19 · 10/06/2014 18:01

My signature dish inexpensive and very easy to make, but it looks as if you really know what you're doing! Tarragon Chicken parcels - take some chicken breasts, put them on a large sheet of foil (or several individual sheets). Add butter (or Flora - why not?) and shake on some dried Tarragon (or chopped fresh) and a little black pepper (no salt!). You can add a few drops of medium white wine or sweet cider if you like. Wrap the parcel (or parcels if you want your guests to unwrap their own on their plate) and cook for about 20 minutes at 180. As the parcel is unwrapped, save the lovely buttery sauce to spoon over them. I serve mine with proper home-made mash and green beans and it gets a smile from my husband every time.

glammanana · 10/06/2014 18:03

Our family signature dish is Cottage Pie,nice and easy to make for hungry visiting sons to eat and remind them of when they lived at home and where spoilt before they ventured out on their own and moved on to Pot Noodles, the potatoes are soft and fluffy with Flora added for that creamy taste and any left overs are taken home with the boys for supper or next days dinner with the regulation chips added.

spicers1976 · 10/06/2014 18:10

Our signature dish is a meatball pasta dish. Ready made or made from minced beef rolled in herbs cooked in a tomato passata and any veg we have in the fridge. Mix with cooked pasta, sprinkle with cheese and warm in oven for ten mins to melt the cheese.
