Hello. We been asked by IKEA to find out who you reckon is the messiest person in your house.

Do you agree with comedian Tiffany Stevenson, who says, in the new IKEA ad, that "the only thing a man will ever clear out is his internet history"?

Or do you wince with Blush recognition at Paul Pirie's umbraged-male retort: "Shoes, shoes, shoes! What are you, a centipede?"

Please post on this thread to tell us who's the 'floordrobe'-owner in your house - the more scruffy, cluttery, bomb-gone-off detail, the better! Everyone who does will be in with a chance to win £100 in IKEA vouchers.

Oh, and IKEA is running a Facebook poll, too, if you fancy casting your vote.

Thanks - and good luck! MNHQ

My husband is the messiest - he;s worse than the kids - particularly when it comes to bed - his clothes just get dumped on the floor at the side of his bed and stay there until I moan at him.....

Also he always manages to spill coffee granules and sugar when making a drink and doesn;t think about wiping them.... arrrrggghhhh men!!!!

befuzzled · 05/04/2011 20:30

Everybody else apart from me in all honesty. That is DP (39, never knowingly put something back where he got it from after use, is allergic to wardrobes, can't go near them), DS1 (6, can spread Lego over the surface of an entire room in seconds, like oil on water), DS2 (3, a full box is a crime against nature and must be emptied immediately) and DS3, (6m, not yet a major player in fairness but can already decimate anything in a 3m radius with projectile vomit).

I often wonder what would happen if I wasn't around to impose order. I have been tempted to go away for a week and see what happens but I fear the house would be unrecoverable by the time I got back.

zebedee01 · 05/04/2011 20:49

To be honest i am probably the messiest person in my house!!

angelabbie · 05/04/2011 20:56

why on why did i find some twix, a pair of pants and a biro in my sons hamster cage

lissajlee · 05/04/2011 21:02

definitely me! I can't keep any room tidy for more than 5 minutes

candish63 · 05/04/2011 21:09

It's my hubby, he hangs his clothes on the floor all the time

PrettyCandles · 05/04/2011 21:13

"Floordrobe" - never heard it before, but, yup, it's mine.

The way to my wardrobe/the filing cabinet/the desk/the kitchen worktops/any flat surface in our house, is paved with good intentions/clean laundry/part-worn clothes/useful things/projects for a spare moment/receipts/anything and everything.

And that's after 15 years of me making an effort to be a bit more tidy out of consideration for dh.

Leopards and spots?

TLAF · 05/04/2011 21:18

hubbie for sure

lucy1005 · 05/04/2011 21:20

I would say the messiest person in my house is probably me,I have sooooo much stuff and don't really tidy as I go!!

amrobe · 05/04/2011 21:21

I'll have to own up and say, it's me! My 11 month old does leavetoys littered all over the living room, but she's too young to tidy up after herself so that just leaves me! I do tend to leave my clothes on the bedroom floor...

robyn297 · 05/04/2011 21:24

My brother is staying with us and he's definately the messiest! He has piles of dirty clothes next to the washing basket. there are coins scattered over the floor and on any flat surfaces. And I daren't imagine whats in his wardrobe(but then again, its possibly empty due to all his clothes being displayed on his floor/bed/chair/desk).

NorbertDentressangle · 05/04/2011 21:30

In our house its most definitely 11yo DD.

I always thought that girls of that age were into exciting storage (boxes, baskets, mini set of drawers, pots etc) and rearranging their endless knick-knacks and stationery but it seems not.

DDs room has the classic "just been burgled" look with things strewn across the floor, clothes in a heap by the door waiting to go in the laundry basket, clothes draped across her chair, unmade bed, desk so full of clutter that she has spread out her latest project all over the floor.

Then she tries to spread her things over the dining room table, living room etc. which is when I tend to have a bit of a melt-down and insist on a massive tidy-up of her room.

barbara2323pink · 05/04/2011 21:31

I think people would say me but in my defence I have too much stuff and not enough space!

wrexhambrum · 05/04/2011 21:32

Me and my boyfriend are messy in equal meaures, albeit in different ways. I'm more in the habit of leaving my clothes in a messy pile until the next afternoon, when I'll more than likely clean up. He's more in the style of coming home from work, strewing his belongings all over the place, and not offering to wash up after (I've cooked the) dinner. Which I then have to clean up!

mamof3boys · 05/04/2011 21:53

My 3 year old is definitely the messiest. He isn't happy until he's emptied every single container of toys. I'm sure he's going to work in demolition when he's older!

annaojbee · 05/04/2011 22:12

The dog - I keep faling over his toys or having to crawl around under the bed becaue he can't reach and won't stop whining til you get it for him.

shazpaz · 05/04/2011 23:10

Has to be my 8 year old son. The speed with which he manages to desecrate his bedroom after I have tidied is amazing!

PhilandC2 · 05/04/2011 23:12

My teenager son! Oh, dear! There is no salvation.

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 05/04/2011 23:18

thats easy, my wonderful husband, who believes the washing fairy does the washing and I have seen him pick up stuff the dog has got hold of and chewed and just leave it on the side!!

jungleriver · 06/04/2011 00:28

Has to be my 11 year old daughter, who leaves a trail of objects, wrappers, clothes wherever she goes.
When i come home from work its so easy to tell what she has been doing from where the mess is.

lottiegirl · 06/04/2011 07:47

my oh- I am lucky that he cooks for me , but he can't throw pacakaging away or tidy as he is cooking , then after we have eaten he is too tired! to tidy the kitchen, It always looks as if he has cooked for the whole street. sometimes I think it would be better if he stayed out of the kitchen . Less mess.

charliechin · 06/04/2011 10:06

Me unfortunately. I have never been able to clean up after myself. It has got better but I need to improve. The fact that I am a hoarder as well does not help!

Rafi · 06/04/2011 10:10

10 year old DD, definitely. She may have a floor in her room but I don't know when she last saw it.

angiesandhu · 06/04/2011 11:22

it has to be my son who is 7. Actually you said be honest. Its me..... :(

mitchell41 · 06/04/2011 20:43

my dd age 10 is the messiest person i know, puts her dirty clothes on the floor next to the dirty linen bin Grrrrr
