No discussions about misdiagnosis/professionals meeting

I will be good

I will not crow about her report but I will say how much it concerns me

I must behave

What is the purpose of this meeting Katymac?

MissTired · 08/07/2010 07:40

anyone that could go with you to support you and make sure they listen??

KatyMac · 08/07/2010 07:56

Umm Not sure

It was supposed to make things easier so all the professionals involved knew what was going on

But we have been told anything we decide may be superseded by the professionals meeting

I think everyone will pat themselves on the back & say what a good job they are doing

KatyMac · 08/07/2010 08:16

Yes I have a family support worker from a charity & a youth worker who is working with DD & the chair is the Parent Support Adviser......it's just everyone else [paranoid]

Hope it goes well and you are properly heard.

KatyMac · 08/07/2010 08:57

Katymac, have you written yourself a list of questions?

Might also be a good idea to ask for an agenda for future meetings, must be pretty intimidating sitting in a room full of professionals, especially if all they want to say is how well things are going, when you feel this is not case.

KatyMac · 08/07/2010 12:21

Not great

Everyone wants to know:

What is the proper diagnosis?
What is the prognosis?
Why do we not have more information?
How is DD (& us as parents) supposed to cope like this?
What are we supposed to do next?

& I was a bit 'well yeah?'

Guess what no medics turned up - now there is a surprise

LAst meeting DH went to at school SENCO kept fdoing the 'talk to teh hand' gesture to DH; I ahven't taken him back since then, he was seriously unimpressed!

Katy sounds as if they wanted to ehlp at least

& how exactly is my CBT counselling supposed to work - I was in there for 1 hr 45 mins & she kept saying "well yes you would be" & "really are you sure" & "have you though of having any time to your self" & "can't you get
any answers from someone"

& she had a nervous tic

& someone said that DD "thrives with one to one relationships" & "actively enjoys time with people"

Well which child wouldn't?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 08/07/2010 21:08

& the CBT lady said what would happen if you do get the tests & they are negative - how will that affect your mental state?

I said well it won't magically sort everything - I will still be devastated by DD's lack of sight; but I will know I have done my best to ensure there is nothing else going on
