as I as I have posted in the past ds was badly bullied a few years ago, and we have been the target of a hate crime.......what word is often used, yes the spaz word...

yet there they are on here saying oh it is ok it is normal for your lovely child to use that word...........WTF

That is disgusting. I hate that word and parents etc that think its ok for their children to use this word. One of the comps we looked at for my DS1 has a special needs room which is commonly known amongst pupils as the 'spaz room' - horrible and one of the reasons why DS1 won't be going there..

Lighteningbugs · 13/02/2010 11:44

IT is not OK it is disgusting

2shoescoveredinhearts · 13/02/2010 11:51

People who think it's ok for their kids to use those words are not parents, they're just childminding the next generation of hooligans. I told that to a mum once, it did not do down well but I didn't give a fuck. Bet they wouldn't be "brave" enough to use racist words, cos of course their kids would get into serious trouble for that, whereas our kids quite literally can't answer or fight back. I noted that one of the posters on a thread arguing that we've all gone PC-mad and we should be able to call people what we like, later posted on a different thread that her child was being assessed for autism. Wonder if she will change her mind about this topic, when and if she gets a diagnosis.

2shoescoveredinhearts · 13/02/2010 18:17

riven that is good

It's never acceptable to use the aforementioned word-or any other word that's derogatory towards people with disabilities, or other "differences". Why do some people just not catch on? (Or, perhaps, they do catch on, but secretly enjoy being hateful?)

2shoescoveredinhearts · 13/02/2010 22:11

do we take it too far though?
yes some words are unaceptable, but do you think by including so many like stupid and idiot, we loose sympathy?
