Yeah, I worked for nearly 20 years and DH works like a dog. I even started work part-time about a month before DS started at school as I wanted the job!! I like twiglett's idea of sticking the very carefully prepared and informative diagram where the sun don't shine! Print out this thread and send it to your sis! Apart from the money etc, how insenstive do people want to be about our situations? Like it doesn't matter to have an (incorrect) opinion on something they know nothing about that is hard work and upsetting!

I think feeling trapped is a very normal human reaction

I have even applied for a job as a waitress in a Thai restraunt

There was an article in the guardian recently which said that bringing up a child with SN costs 3x as much as bringing up an NT child and the mother's are 7 times less likelt to be in work mainly dfue to difficulties in finding childcare.

When people comment on our car I just tell them I'd swap the car anyday.

I deliberately don't mention DLA to my family because I can imagine the kinds of things they would say. All they see are two healthy smiling little boys - and me apparently sitting on my @rse all day because I'm too lazy to go out and get myself a 'proper' job.

oh dont get me started, i worked full time until 5 years ago, my hubby has always been the house husband, then my back went and now i am not able to work, f-i-l is outraged that me and hubby do not go out to work, i mean the fact that we have three kids with autism and some days i can't even walk shouldn't matter really as we should get jobs, not that he is offering us any childcare or help, i mean what support or help could we possibly need i mean after all three lots of dla and my incapacity and pension means we are loaded, according to him

People seem not to think before they speak. Would they swap the endless hospital appointments.... admissions ..... getting up LOADS of times during the night to check the child is breathing ..... administering all of the medications ...... and all of the other 'stuff' that we just get on and do on a daily basis for the money - I guess NOT!

Then, as well, you get the people who comment when they see a 'mother with children' parking in disabled spaces - it doesn't seem to matter that the child can't walk, has a blue badge and a motability car!!!!!

Sorry to moan!

It is awful when people think like that they have no idea Most disabled people would swap any money to live a normal life Tell them to f* off you have enough to deal with
