just wanted to let you all know we had emergency appointment with pediatrician today as they have been so behind on reviews and obviously we having sleep problems

anyway she has given us melatonin although still need to get it as all pharmacies were shut and will need to be ordered in but at least we have it now and soon can start it and hopefully regulate a sleep pattern

my hair again has started to fall out probably from the stress again last lot only just grown back so back to ponytail for next 9 mths again that's if it grows back in that time

bubblaboy is better at home but not doing well at pre school at all by the sounds of things but hoping as pre school teacher came with me that the pediatrician will give good report for his statement and maybe we'll be lucky and get good amount of hours support

well just thought id fill you in as haven't had much time to be so active on here lately but all will look up now hopefully

we actually got him out to farm near us to feed the animals on sunday and we managed to sit in the cafe for lunch with no problems at all

its my b day on sunday on mothers day so i said maybe we'd try and tackle lunch again with maybe a visit to a boot sale i just love them lol

well i hope all is going well for everyone else i am thinking of you all and i am lurking but just felt i havent had any good advise to offer just lately xx

Shall be keeping my fingers crossed for you. And about your hair.

I must admit that I'll put up with almost anything if it means I can visit somewhere with animals. Maybe the boot sale could be turned into a 'hunt the animal figures' game?

Hope you get some quality rest, soon...

Marne · 17/03/2009 20:01

We took both dd's to a boot sale on sunday, dd1 has a thing about snakes and cars at the moment so we went on a hunt for them and managed to find a toy snake. The only problem with dd1 is once she has bought something she then wants to take it straight home and will refuse to walk any further.

I hope you get to go to the boot sale, i love them too .

TotalChaos · 17/03/2009 20:05

hope that the melatonin helps and you all get more sleep! sorry you are so stressed, and hope you have a good mother's day.

hereidrawtheline · 17/03/2009 20:32

I love boot sales too! You've given me the idea to ask to go on Sunday. And Happy Early Birthday.

I am glad you had some success at the paediatricians, that must be a huge relief and is at least progress!! Well done for getting this far. Sorry about your hair & the stress too.

bubblagirl · 18/03/2009 08:50

thanks guys its all been so worrying and stressful especially as i know school is only round the corner and his taken huge leap back pre school are making no progress with him he still wont communicate with his peers still so prompt dependent and few months back he was making huge progress

lets hope he gets the hours needed at school i know to many people going through appeal and this is making me panic as it'll be more stress

well im looking forward to boot sale lol ds isnt too bad although when his got what he wants yes his ready to go home so good distraction needed

but its my b day and mothers day so i'll enjoy it regardless may even have few glasses of wine

well without melatonin given i gave him medised last night as has conjunctivitis and rotten cold he slept from 6pm till 7 am can you believe it i am in shock he must have needed it but thats first time in yrs he has slept that long without waking

except i woke at 4 and couldnt get back to sleep bloody typical lol xx

about hair.
I had stress/hormone imbalance related alopaecia. It struck at age 20 and lasted until I had the kids which happily "cured" it (all the oestrogen apparently). That's a lot of years of dreading seeing photos taken from above!
Some leading pharmacists in the larger Boots are quite knowledgable. My trichologist (8 years ago) recommended a product of theirs called "Regain" but he said you have to use a lot of it for it to work. Might your GP prescribe it?

bubblagirl · 18/03/2009 10:29

i have been to her but all she gave me was fungal shampoo just in case but unfortunately because it may grow back on its own and the product would probably take as long as it would for it to come back naturally they would rather leave it to that it took 9 mths for the last patch which got quite big to grow back

this patch luckily isn't spreading as fast as the last one but is quite close so its a bugga to keep hiding as have regrowth of last one to keep tying to disguise and then this patch

lets hope it starts growing back quicker than before its so strange how our bodies react under pressure isn't it

Happy birthday for Sunday bubblagirl! Fingers crossed, your DS will settle in preschool soon, and the hair will grow back (a vitamin supplement may also help - when stressed, I practically forget to eat)! Bubblaboy is gorgeous, by the way (I saw the photos)

bubblagirl · 18/03/2009 11:46

well have to pick melatonin up today they had to order it for me shall see how he settles with it if anything maybe we can establish a routine again as we never have more than few good nights its probably the medised and the fact his run down thats helping him sleep but its been great anyway

Hey just wanted to say Hi! My hair is falling out again after a few months of Dx assesments... like you it fell out last year, grew back and has all fallen out again, it's really thin now and looks terrible.... and i'm 28 too.

MiniNova is in reception, and it has been rough since Sept... but finally starting to settle down since Feb half term.

We havent got an ASD dx (its deferred till Oct), but he has got a significant speech and language impairment and social issues.

Hope the melatonin works... not sure about ed psych, we are still on waiting list.

bubblagirl · 20/03/2009 15:13

oh nova i truly do sympathize how strange we both suffering the same from all the stress and same age well im here if you need to talk

ed psych has been now it was to see how bubbla boy would need the help in school his sensory issues how school can help him the problems he has how they affect him etc

will be trying melatonin tonight

hope all comes along for you its such a stressful time but once all help needed comes along then it gets bit easier

my ds has speech problems too and having SALT for that at moment this is all in preparation for sept when he will start school so im hoping the ed psych assessment will help with amount of hours given

im here if you need to chat xx

Good luck with the melatonin!
Hope you get some kip, but if your anything like me you will feel guilty/worry you've given too much/rediculous things like that and be worried anyway lol

The school has applied for autism outreach services but to be honest his new teacher (she started full time in Feb)seems to be on the ball, we are a lot happier, now proper targets are in place, and he seems to be coming on. It has taken a while for him to settle! He still hits out but not as much.

We pay for speech therapy at school every week, which was intended to compliment NHS speech therapy, but the NHS woman seems to have taken the hump with this and is only seeing him once a term :-) hey ho..

He also has a 1 to 1 to help him, and he is not statemented or anything yet, i'm sure bubblaboy will get the right amount of hours that he needs, your LEA have a duty to provide him with that. It sounds positive that they are preparing things in advance though, we were told 'wait and see', and we had a car crash of a first term and a half to be honest lol

nice to chat to someone who can relate to me! I don't know any Mums with a child with any type of SN never mind ASD!

bubblagirl · 20/03/2009 18:34

well this sn forum is fab for all that had so much help from lovely people

bubblaboy was dx at 3 with HFA but his sensory issues have only just surfaced so its nice to talk on here as i dont have rl people to really talk to i have one mum from our sn group but we rarely make it there now due to bubbla boy being too tired

well im always here to chat to if you want to im always in need of an ear to chew off or shoulder to cry on lol

my dp is working nights hopefully bubblaboy will sleep soundly and i can just breathe and relax lol

take care xx

hi bubblagirl, been away this week so just seen this thread. So sorry you've had such a rotten time, but hopefully the melatonin will kick in for bubblaboy and give you some good nights sleep.

I lost a lot of hair after having both ds' and had to wear it up in a ponytail with bits swept forward to cover the thin patches, for what seemed like ages. It's almost all back now, it just has a big layer in it, and feels thicker than ever. I was just about to buy some special restorative shampoo treatment from the internet (forget the name but may be the one lingle mentioned) when it started to grow back.

Hopefully this is all a temporary lull and bubblaboy will start progressing quickly again soon. Thinking of you.

bubblagirl · 21/03/2009 07:50

thank you kettlechip thought i hadn't seen you for a while i hope all is well|?

well i used the melatonin last night he settled great but he has conjunctivitis at moment and has now gone to both eyes he woke in agony as his eyes had swollen up he couldnt open them was in alot of pain so had to medised in the end as he was hurting so much

so once his eyes are better i shall start with the melatonin again and just give medised at moment then i'll see how and if he settles all night

his poor little eyes though there so weepy and swollen much worse than when i took him doctors tues and getting the eye drops in is a bit of a mission lol

glad your hair is growing back thankfully the last patch has grown back this one [touch wood] hasnt grown as big as quick as the last one that just seemed to get huge fast this one seems to be not much bigger than when i found it few weeks back

just a pain having to try and cover both areas and always having the same hair do im embarrassed when people ask if i ever wear my hair down lol

take care xx

hiya, hope the melatonin works, and poor bubba boys eyes get better soon, you would so gladly have it for them when they are ill, we have the poorly blanket on the sofa and lots of cuddles!
is the melatonin liquid, does it taste awful?
porgie boy can detect any piriton, medised and vomits it up!
after i had him i lost hair and took horsetail extract from tesco, seemed to help a bit, is very cheap too!
good luck, have a lovely day tomorrow.
