feel bit anxious about it but happy its the right thing for her. Only fear is not having the fundo and will she start vomiting after feeds. There was post on here a while back about this. (Sorry I sort of dropped out of that thread and disapeared after another hospitalisation and more crappy news re dd)

good luck for the op and sorry yu have had a rotten time lately with the medical stuff with DD. I don't know anything about this op so I can't really advise about the fundo, but hope that she doesnt' have problems with the vomitting.

glitteryb6 · 28/11/2008 11:26

ds had his button and fundo done 3 weks ago, best thing we ever did!

the reflux and vomiting has gone, no more wet bibs, eating normally again and has gained 1kg since the op

Woooozle100 · 28/11/2008 12:12

thankyoo tc
that's great news glittery. Wow 1kg - that's about 2 yrs worth of weight gain there

i know! cant believe it, might need to cut back on the milk!

josey · 29/11/2008 22:11

Hope all goes well for you, I will be interested to hear how it goes my DD is getting hers on the 18th, She has NGT just now for milk but manages solids herself and small amounts of liquid. Are you thinking of pumping overnight? I would like to do this for a couple of milk feeds that she struggles with during the day.

To be honest apart from her going under I cant wait to get it done as her face is a mess and her nose is begining to bleed.

needmorecoffee · 30/11/2008 09:26

dd has her peg friday
no fundo though.
Wont pump cos no plug upstairs but it will be for water and meds only.

Woooozle100 · 30/11/2008 09:47

am going to ask about fundo. We have a nurse coming out to us tomorrow so can ask then. DD has started to bring back her night feeds through hewr nose. Thought she'd outgrown this. Maybe her way of letting us know she'd rather have with fundo

Will let you know how it goes. She will be on a pump overnight as one of the reasons for having it is that she has tendency to drop her blood sugars and doesn't always tolerate 'fasting' overnight (other reasons being risk of aspiration / risk of heart attack as her heart rate goes stupidly high when feeding and rubbish growth - bit of a no brainer really)

Best wishes to you josey and nmc as well x

dd had fundo and mickey button on 0ct 2 this year, my dd as put 2lb since oct which for her is great

as for night pumps ours is noisy but its a clear star and its big dreading going away taking that lol

good luck to all whos having it done am here if you want any info?

josey · 01/12/2008 11:33

Can I stupidly ask what the fundo is?

My DD is just 6months and struggles with that amount of liquid taken orally I would like to just pump over a couple of hours about 10-14oz...I have been told it would be a very new high tech pump I would get, but the pumping is still in the hanging at the moment, as her feeding specialist doesnt want to step on the toes of her community consultant

josey · 01/12/2008 11:34

EJB very best wishes for tomorrow, will be thinking of you, sending you some virtual nails to bite

trace2 · 01/12/2008 15:49

Fundoplication has been the standard surgical method for treating gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD causes inflammation, pain (heartburn), and other complications (such as scarring and stricture of the esophagus). GERD results when acid refluxes (regurgitates, or backwashes) from the stomach back up into the esophagus. Under normal conditions, there is a barrier to acid reflux. One part of this barrier is the lower-most muscle of the esophagus (called the lower esophageal sphincter). Most of the time, this muscle is contracted (constricted, or tight), which closes off the esophagus from the stomach. In patients with GERD, the sphincter does not function normally. The muscle is either weak or relaxes inappropriately. Fundoplication is a surgical technique that strengthens the barrier to acid reflux when the sphincter does not function normally

trace2 · 01/12/2008 15:50

you could do bowler feeds then

glitteryb6 · 01/12/2008 20:17

trace, have you had any granulation?

josey · 01/12/2008 21:40

Trace thank you, they did mention this, though didnt tell me what it was called!! They have said they dont think she will need it unless they see something when they go down. If that is the case they will have to stop

Woooozle100 · 01/12/2008 22:08

thankyou for good wishes (haha virtual nails. That's good. Am more of a teaser and picker of my real ones than a biter but they are ruined all the same)

was told today what pump we are getting but forgot already. None mentioned here jogged me memory. Nurse told me all about different pegs and tubes depending on how they fit it (either feeding down through the mouth which surgeon favours but might not be able to do cos of dd's floppy windpipe in which case its little cut through stomach) Then a button in 3 months. Impressed its that quick tbh. Thought it would ber longer

anyway - waffling on and I need to go pack. Not used to these planned hospital stays. More the desperate calls for pants after a and e dash

will let you know how we get on xxx

ejb - hope it all goes well, sending you lots of positive vibes.

trace2 · 02/12/2008 08:59

glitteryb6 yes shes had over granulation then was silver nitrated and its back once more with revence its masive so going to silver night again tomorrow we think cos dd mickey is so lose it leaks and causeres over granulation, been told dd would have been better with peg, but they put mickey straight in.

once again good look all

needmorecoffee · 02/12/2008 09:59

i was told silver nitrate hurts and burns so the yahoo group recommended a cream calleed traimcinolone acetonide.
