I figured that as Victoria lived near here as a child, and they have a house nearby, that they might help a local child.. Atm, my brain is not in right frame of mind to start writing letters, have just done Ds1's secondary school application and had to get loads of supporting letters etc for our case that only one school can provide him with the help he needs, as he doesn't have a Statement.

Riven, why dont you qualify for income support? that seems odd, are you sure you are defr getting everything correct? i dont want to seem patronising, but trying to figure this out.

our brekdown is

dh dla (high rate for both)
me CA
DH incapcity benefit
Income support
child benefit
CTC

lots of dribs and drabs but adds up.

pReachyTheExorcist · 10/10/2008 08:08

I do know why riven doesn't get Income support- its a fucking pisstake but I won't go into details, only to say they've been immensely badly treated in that way by the benefits people.

misdee · 10/10/2008 08:10

oh no, thats not good as you need IS as its seen as a gateway benefit. it opens up other things if you get it.

have an imaginary child. she is perfectly well behaved and everyone loves her 100% of the time [misdee removed dd3 from climbing the window sills and stops dd3 flashing her bum at the new neighbours]

I think fundraising for individuals could end up with the christmas box type problems. Although that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

For anyone needing a trike etc do try your local rotary. They are really keen to find children to spend money on. Wheelchairs that would increase fun in your child's life, I'd really try the Beckham's charity. Adaptations harder- and don't even get me started on DFG's.

We may have to go the communication aid way sometime. And I shudder at the cost! The lack of access to communication aids by children who could potentially benefit in the UK is a disgrace.

2shoesdrippingwithblood · 10/10/2008 09:05

oh I do so agree about the communications aids. I want dd to have one(she hopefully will whne she gets better with her head switches) but dread the cost. I think that should be provided by the goverment, not charitys.

Tha local rotary clubs is a good idea jimjams, they helped us with our last trike.
