My autistic DS would eat nothing but toast and marmite left to his own devices, but I force him to eat chicken nuggets and fruit/veg too. One handy tip I picked up - if you have to get vitamins or probiotics into him, you can hide quite a lot by mixing into the marmite pot! That strong flavour covers the taste and they don't suspect as you are still getting the marmite out of the usual pot!

made DS a turkey sandwich just now. He took one bite and asked for a soft cheese one. Made him a soft cheese one (as the smoked turkey was a new food to him). He took one bite and demanded chips. Aargh. He does usually happily eat soft cheese so I'm not offering anything else.

Thanks for the sausage tip - was getting heartily sick of having sausage skin under my nails! DD managed to con playgroup staff into giving her a biccy instead of a roll - again! Don't know where she gets it from.....(she says -opening another bag of jaffa cakes.)

Brilliant idea about spiking the marmite! DS loves marmite almost more than his nintendo!

seuss...have you seen in asda the marmite cheddar bites???

They are YUMEEEEEEEEEE!

For years i have been mixing marmite into dairylea or butter- and leaving a stash in the fridge- just for me to spread on toast!!!

I mix it roughly so its kind of marbled with streaks of marmite- so that when i spread it on toast- i get a combi of strong marmite and buttery bits!

So these cheeses i discovered are similar- they are marbled with marmite!!!!

I got a bit obsessed with adding vegetables and protein to ds1's diet for a while.

Nicest thing was breadmaker bread made with either mashed sweet potato or grated courgette.

Ground almonds made cakes and biscuits protein packed and I count banana cake as a serving of fruit!

The jelly made with strained broccoli, gelatin and ribena seemed like a good idea, but was vile!

A nice mnetter told me twiglets contained iron so I feel better about ds1's 2 bowl a day habit.

why don't you get skinless sausages or sausage meat?(sorry if this ia silly question)

lucky- i made some bread for me the other day- with 2 mashed bananas and some chopped dates mixed in- i was amazed it still rose!!!

Actually a bit wet textured ...but nice.

I have very picky eaters at my house too. My DD had coffee with milk and pringles for breakfast.

2shoes - I tried skinless sausages once but the little monkey still wanted me to skin them?!?!? She is just being bl*y-minded because the other night she ate three sausages with their skin on (apparently different because they were bbq ones!) I am trying to stay calm with her and she is getting better - she is eating the odd yoghurt and grapes again now...just such slow progress!

mum23 - i love marmite cheddars too but ds wouldnt go for them - despite marmite and cheddars being two of few things he'll have in his lunch box! Might give the dairylea and marmite mix a go tho cos apparently he tried some cheese at school yesterday!

lucky - I've put things in the jelly before now but didn't think of brocoli!

Cantseesowhat - Your dd had milk in her coffee! That is practically a healthy breakfast around here!
