i felt really guilty actually, little dot watched his older brother having a yoghurt and he was licking his lips and went to scavenge the fridge... how could i say "no" when he found one, much to his delight???

BTW hes cows milk intolerant to some degree. BUT hes not had dairy in 2wks... so maybe one little yoghurt...

misscutandstick · 16/06/2008 16:56

2shoes · 16/06/2008 17:09

Seuss · 16/06/2008 17:15

I quite like the sound of the choccy spread sandwich and rolo pudding - wonder if DH would go for it?

2shoes · 16/06/2008 17:21

ds is having an insatiable day - in the space of an hour he has eaten a plate of chicken and veg (has no idea there is chicken in it), a plate of roast potatoes (cheaty shop bought ones -), a pack of 'Pringle Babies' and Toast and Marmite. He is still hungry and any second now I expect to hear the cry 'lollipop!'
(Should point out that ds' only alternative meal is a plate of chips!)

Seuss · 16/06/2008 17:37

yep...now he's had a lollipop

BriocheDoree · 16/06/2008 18:17

Oh hey, took mine to McDonald's on Friday. Can't get much worse than that!! For lunch today she ate laughing cow cheese spread, fruit compote and cherry tomatoes. Supper was pasta (she left the sauce) and a yoghurt. And she's not a fussy eater, really...just a bit thrown off kilter by moving house recently.

coppertop · 16/06/2008 18:47

Ds2 had a slice of toast and some milk for breakfast.

Lunch was bread and butter with yoghurt.

After school he had a snack of bread and butter and a yoghurt.

Can you see a theme here?

It's actually a big improvement for him as he only used to eat bread if it was dry.

Ds1 had what he has every day:

Marmite on toast for breakfast.
Ham sandwiches and grapes for lunch.
Ham sandwiches, grapes, yoghurt and a chicken drumstick for tea.

Such variety in our house.

i like doing threads like these. I get ideas of thing to try dd on. sh is a brill eater.yesterday she ate a full roast(just mashed instead of roast spud) the rhubarb cruble.
but breakfast and teas are a nightmare.

dd had weetabix minis for breakfast - just like yesterday and tuna sandwiches for lunch - just like yesterday... and the day before that.....and the day before that.

But this is much better than the years between two and five when she had dry cocopops for breakfast and tinned Heinz macaroni cheese for lunch everyday and when the only other food she would eat had to be beige.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 16/06/2008 19:28

dd loves a roast now too 2shoes. She'd have it everyday.

She eats massive amounts - much more than me - just has to be the same old stuff.

luckylady74 · 16/06/2008 19:44

Ds1 had the same particular fishfingers as every other night - god forbid I produce Ross ones - they were thrown up, but at least I don't have to peel them any more.
Ds1 has icecream for pudding every night.

On the plus side in the year that we've stopped making him try new food he's of his own accord started eating omlette and baked beans. The celebrations over beans were immense - it can be counted as 1 of your 5 a day you know!

I'm working on sandwiches as he'd like a more normal looking pack lunch - he'll eat the components of a jam sandwich so why not the sandwich - I realised after that awful thread yesterday that this wouldn't be an aim in the average mnetter's house!

MUM23ASD · 16/06/2008 19:48

i'm finding this thread VERY theraputic!!!

I've had a crap day...so its great to find this thread

Seuss · 16/06/2008 20:29

luckylady - know what you mean the jam sandwich - ds will eat beans on toast but won't eat beans on their own??? We have def. lowered our expectations too, I was ecstatic when he licked a slice of pizza the other night. (I'd already moved on to a weekly pizza night where we sat chatting over dominoes...)

And he loves marmite - so much that sometimes I swear you can smell it on his skin!

Does anyone else hoard foods just in case? Ds had a think for chocolate readybrek for a while and we could only get it in one shop so I had a cupboard full for a while.

SpookyMadMummy · 16/06/2008 20:52

I have been planting veg with the DD's tonight.

The first seeds to be 'planted' were cress seeds on cotton wool. I had to explain to Dd1 (ASD) that no, she didn't have to eat an egg in order to grow cress!

2shoes · 16/06/2008 21:20

do you know a lot of what people have put on here is normal dsnt has done a lot of these things over the years.

OP posts:
Seuss · 16/06/2008 21:27

True 2shoes, not only does dd (nt) only eat sausages and strawberries at the moment, but quite often I have to peel the sausages. I'm not panicking however because ds2(nt) went through a very similar phase.

2shoes · 16/06/2008 21:38

ds has the same lunch and tea every day(awaits being flamed)

OP posts:
Seuss · 16/06/2008 21:45

ds is the same - but when I think about it he eats quite healthily it's just v. limited (and mashy! - unless you can dip it in ketchup!) He eats loads too but is built like a whippet, although strong as an ox...(bit of an animal theme going on...eat's like a pig...)
ds1(asd) actually eats much better than his little sis who currently has a coco-pops bar for brekkie and insists on telling everyone she had a chocolate bar for breakfast in a very proud fashion.(feeling the heat from the flames already...)

Arabica · 16/06/2008 22:26

For her evening meal DD had half a biscuit, a quarter of a tomato, three grapes, a small slice of pear, half a veggie sausage and some rice with peas and broccoli. Most of it ended up on the floor, though!

MUM23ASD · 17/06/2008 08:43

Ds3 had 3/4 box of Chocolate fingers and ds2 had (as always) Frosted shreddies

allytjd · 17/06/2008 10:08

Reading this thread with interest as my two older boys (one on spectrum, one hovering on the margins) aren't very fussy but do have some unusual tastes. DS1 will not touch butter or cheese, is almost phobic about them, he says they are bitter but LOVES sprouts and turnips and is even growing his own supply on my allotment, he is like that supposedly mythical boy Max on the advert who loves brocolli. However it is my MOTHER who has really weird eating habits. I read recently that there is a theory that anorexics are on the ASD spectrum and that rang a bell with me as my mum developed anorexia in her thirties, she stabilised in the end but ate the same thing for every meal every day religiously and ate so many carrots that she turned orange! I vividly remember her crying in a restaraunt when she discovered butter on her vegetables. I regard the comparatively relaxed atmosphere at mealtimes in my house(ignoring DS2's pig like manners)as my biggest parenting achievement but I do realise that I have been lucky.
Also my kids have never done the disgusting things that some of my friends NT kids have done like eating cat poo (twice!) or sampling slugs, quite glad about that.

misscutandstick · 17/06/2008 10:32

Little dot had a thing for eating frogspawn a couple of months ago. we DID have some in the bathtub pond in the middle garden, i think the fish ate the rest... oh well.

I too have to 'peel' sausages (hang on! eats frogspawn but not sausage skin???) i have found (quite gross i think) that if you soak grilled sausages in warm water for a minute it practically falls off. And the sausages end up the right temp! winners all round!
