My ds can finally say his sister's name! (He is 9yo, and only has a smattering of single words, he signs everything else). It's wonderful to hear him saying her name to get her attention.

Today my daughter spoke to her teacher, and said "Au revoir" (prompted) when we left. Teacher said that what she said was simply repeated phrase but it's the first time she's even addressed her. Said "She's making progress!". Saw the SALT who's really pleased!

DS told me about Rapunzel this morning and then went quiet for a moment then he said but wouldn't it hurt if someone climbs up your hair? Very unusual for him to make an observation like that with regards to people feeling sadness or pain.

My DS1 said please - Yesterday he said 'bread please' to me. He was recovering from illness so maybe defences were weakened!

Can I do another one? Today DS2 went on his first ever school trip and his first full day at school. They were allowed to take a pound to spend in the farm park shop. I supplied DS2 with his pound, thinking he would either not choose anything or just grab any old toy and then ignore it. He came back with a stretchy pink snake which is a different version of a toy he's got at home - a stretchy pink fish.

I can't describe how happy this made me. He actually chose a toy, made a connection with something at home and then PLAYED with it later.

Am going to let him spend his pocket money from my parents from time to time now, rather than sticking it in the bank.

Meeting up with a friend yesterday and watching friend's ds take dd1's hand and walk off with her hand in hand round the rose bushes!

dd1, age 5, only learnt to walk in November, friend's ds is the same age as her but that is the first time they have gone off together. They looked so cute. I cried.

DS1s annual review was fantastic and they think he is doing brilliantly and really matured. He's also gardened all weekend and cleared loads of crappy bush thing and inspired (nagged) me to get out in the garden and tackle a myriad of jobs.

Its my wedding aniversary today as well. 19 years. Blimey. Do I get a medal for services to snoring (him not me of course )

Just catching up with this. Thanks everyone for congrats on the chicken nuggets! Little s*d quacked for my tuna & sweetcorn sandwich today so I gave him a quarter, thinking it would be wasted. He scoffed the tuna and bread and left a plate of sweetcorn kernals! Great to hear everyone else's good news too, only here could I laugh at Arabica's DD chomping the bowl but great that she has fed herself some yoghurt.

DS2 had his first swimming lesson today. He didn't cry or panic (I wasn't in the pool). He enjoyed every minute and did exactly what the teacher told him to. Amazing!!

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 10/06/2008 22:33

Aw, love the stretchy pink snake! and all the other stories too. Mine is that my lovely dd has suddenly taken off with her walking frame and is no whizzing round the house proudly! so cute.
