Hi my son was awarded in march. This months statement has been awarded carers element and disabled child element however it needs backdating to the start of my universal credit claim in feb. I have notified them of this and they have said it’s with a decision maker. Anyone know how long it takes? Thanks

I'm waiting too.. apparently there's no time frame
They need to backdate mine from November 🤦🏻‍♀️

Apart from the village which I'd kill to live in 😂 like fee haha! I know this feeling, I fled DV also just over 3months ago, going through bloodly hell!!!! Also no bloody car 😭 feel so bloody isolated and trapped!!

It’s horrible isn’t it! Transport is rubbish here too, buses and trains hourly at best. And kids eating me out of house and home so forever getting home delivery! I left mine July 2020, has been a tough road. Plus court case as he wanted access to our son, which finally finished after 3 years! There is light at the end of tunnel. It’s a rough road rebuilding yourself. Xx

Fee89 · 16/04/2024 18:37

@Tasha0429 @Tracy37x I hope you both know you are both truly amazing. That goes for anyone leaving d.v. The first step is always the hardest but if you can build the strength to do that then you can handle whatever comes your way. Hope you both walk with your heads held high 💕

❤️ thank you! Means a lot 🥹 xxx

Tasha0429 · 16/04/2024 19:09

@Tracy37x I can't use public transport as it purely would not be safe, and my boy would scream the bus down 🙈 quite literally. It's be a shit show 😂 in my words.ah you warrior 💪 your nearly 4years free 💗 that's absolutely amazing. Yeah it's tough and my fight hasn't even started 😭 I don't think social would ever allow him around the children again, so I have got that reassurance, thankfully he's no legs to stand on there, and the evidence stands for it's self, I doubt he'd even try. Aw I'm so happy you fucking did it though 💗💗
Makes me happy seeing someone on the other side 🥺🥰

@Fee89 don't you get me going again 😭🥺💗 thank you girl xxxc

Hi all, dla received my application 27/2 and I called and requested the form 22/1. Could you tell me which is my scan date please? My letter says they will deal with my application from the 22/1, so a bit confused. Thanks

Your scan date is 27/2 the advised 15 weeks starts from then, if there is an award they'll backdate to 22/1 when you called for the forms. Welcome to the group and hope that helps you x

4outof4 · 16/04/2024 19:41

29/12 is my scan date for new claim and why im following along.

Is your claim for a diabetic child @Fee89 ?

For UC back pay, scan date was 29/08, awarded 09/01 (MR scanned 12/01), requested UC disabled child element back pay on the 12/01, sent over for a decision to be made, this was made on the 18/02 that the back pay was authorised but I have only received back pay today 16/04. So that's 3 months on from initial request.

Ash93 · 16/04/2024 19:58

Hi
Just wanted some advice I updated the change on universal by ringing them up .
Do I still have to leave a message on my journal for backdated child/ disabled element or will they backdate themselves and also what option do I leave the journal message ?
many thanks

Anyone else having an utterly rubbish day 😫. Shes at school, this is the 2nd drop already. Which means no doubt off tomorrow and she only went back yesterday 😢

Awh bless you. It must be so hard to manage. I hope it’s been more stable this afternoon/evening for her 💕 and she’s not feeling really rubbish
hope you’re ok 💕 xxx

@Ash93 I believe you'd need to write it on your journal, asking for back payment to the date that DLA has started the award.

I left the message for my work coach. Request it be sent to a decision maker as its outside assessment period (of course it will be, as you were waiting to hear from DLA. No way it could of been done sooner) remember to mention why you are late reporting/wanting backpayment.

I updated my journal yesterday and they replied today saying it'll be sent to a DM and they will update me via my journal.

Emmajm85 · 16/04/2024 20:08

@kristie198 @Fee89
ill be calling first thing. No way I can wait until Friday knowing they’ve got everything now 😂
I was desperate to call again this afternoon but managed to stop myself 😬 xx

Hello, yes shes type 1, uncontrolled even on pump. Shes too sensitive to insulin so nurse and consultant cant get the ratios right. But then shes too sensitive to lows which leave her seriously ill. Today already shes had 5 lows. Last one took ages to bring her up. Then week in feb she was off the scale high that no matter how much insulin she was having it wouldnt drop her. Her ketones are always spot on, even hospital were confused. She is also on pathway for adhd & asd. Sorry went on one there 😂 xx

Fee89 · 16/04/2024 20:12

@Emmajm85 tonight has been a nightmare. Shes in ill and had some medicine 🤦🏻‍♀️. Will be another sleepless night. I expect a party in here with zombie parents 😂.
Haha i did wonder if you would call this afternoon or not. Im sooo excited to hear your outcome finally 🥰 xx

No @Fee89 carry on, my son is the same. We keep having ratios changed and he's high or low. Just can't get him level. December he was going low 3 times a night, changed ratios then Jan it was high, he does get up to 0.5/0.6 ketones though. Changed again and it's low. Just can't get it right.
He has huge sensory needs, only just manage to get him to wear the CGM. He will not even entertain the thought of a pump. He's also paeds for asd and adhd, he's had one assessment but needs to be seen in a different setting.

But he has no extra care during the night apparently, he's the one a MR is in for.

Tasha0429 · 16/04/2024 20:20

@Fee89 Your not alone, I'll be up 😂👀 as usual.. but I've got a plan tonight 😂

Are you for real no care during the night? I was up until midnight with Freya, then again at 3ish infact me and @Emmajm85 were chatting on here while i was treating her. Then again at 4.30 until hubby took over. If she goes too low she pretty much becomes paralysed and cant function for a good 24 hours. She used to refuse insulin so would refuse to eat. She lost half her weight. How old is your son? Sorry thats made me really mad and if they say same for her then il be marching in there. I sent a weeks worth of follow app readings. And consultant stated she is sensitive to insulin and lows 😡😤😡😤

4outof4 · 16/04/2024 20:31

Yes, I've got a support letter from diabetes nurse and from paediatrics and OT stating waking during the night and having need for help with bodily functions (because you know one of his organs is actually dead and he needs me to make sure his body functions) and then for the MR I've sent 10 days of readings pointing out the night time points as I thought there would be enough with the letters but they've stated no need. He's 4, it'll be a year diagnosed next month, How old is yours?
I was up once for an hour and a half last night because he wouldn't come up, but that was a better night than the quicker lows myltipul times. I'm in bed already knowing how many times I'll be up 😂

I sent the flow charts for hypo, sick days. Side effects etc with her claim. Thought id treat them dumb so i sent everything 😂. Shes now 10 but she was 9. She got diagnosed oct last year. Dr said she had scarlett fever, we took her to a&e as she wasnt getting better. They done urine sample it was pure blood so within 15mins she was on everything going and telling me shes going into intensive care 🤦🏻‍♀️. I get alot of people dont understand type 1 and il happily explain to anyone. But when its people in them type of jobs i find it pure ignorant they dont understand how serious it is. Freya will wet herself without realising 🤦🏻‍♀️ xx
