need help writing my letter of complaint about why i feel DS deserves a 2nd opinion.
have long list of problems picked up in report from CAMHS of traits i feel point towards autistic spectrum problems. Need help finding evidence on net which back up my claims.can anyone help?

thansk guys. Givemesleep i have just gone through what you posted and written evidence against each point and im shocked at how much of the criteria DS actually meets and by how much evidence i actually have to support each point! Thanks

Well i think i may be finished! am on page 10 but dont want to waffle on really. i can provide more evidence if they need it but think 10 pages should be enough to require 2nd opinion
dusty or givemesleep can oyu take a look at final copy please?

dustystar · 26/03/2008 17:10

I've gone through the last copy you emiled me and made some small changes. Feel free to ignore. They aren't a criticism of your letter I just tend to use a more formal tone.

THANKYOU SO MUCH GUYS......I THINK IM DONE. HAVE REARRANGED A LITTLE AND AM HAPPY IT DETAILS ENOUGH. HAVE ALSO ADDED INFO ABOUT DLA AND HAVING TO PROVE EVERYTHING TO THEM.

HOW CAN A NORMAL CHILD BE ABLE TO CLAIM DLA AND GET A FULL TIME STATEMENT????????????? ESPECIALLY WHEN WE KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GET BOTH THOSE!

OOPS sorry didnt mean to shout!

I really appreciate everything. am sending virtual flowers and would send real ones if i knew where oyu lived!

cheers all for the help. Took the letter down today and handed it in personnally, also took a huge ikea bag full of paperwork and went through some bits with the buisness manager. I should hear back next week some time... we will see. I must say though that with the help Dusty and givemesleep gave the letter is 'da bomb' and i defy anyone to dispute the evidence!!!!!

Bang on cue too DS has had a terrible day. Began hitting himself in a crowded sports store and i had to wrestle him to the ground and restrain him as he was grabbing coat hangers and threatening to poke his eyes out...the reason behind all this????? Instead of getting breakfast when he got up as usual he got distracted watching TV and only remembered he hadnt had breakfast at 10am (i had been bad mummy and was sorting paperwork and ironing and just assumed he had got his usual bread and jam and grapes!)
This continued all day on and off and he sobbed before bed that he hates himself and wants to have a new brain. BUt hey ho this behaviour is totally normal for a 7 year isnt it!

another really bad day with DS again. he kicked off at nannas house because noone else wanted to play 'primevil' which is his new infatuation. this triggered a massive tantrum which lasted over an hour. he has 2 massive red egg shaped bumps on his head from where he head butted the wall a few times and then yelled at his nanna to shut up which made me launch at him like i have never done. Im so exhausted by it all. Am dreading the week ahead as im on my own with him and DD all week and know im gonna have to stay in for fear of problems.

HOORAY!!!!!
Got a letter today and CAHMS have said because the letter was so detailed and that i had proved DS has COMPLEX needs they agree there had been some faults with the recent assessment and that many children with complex needs that are hard to recognise need to have further assessments done and evidence from a wider professional base had to be looked into! They are referring us on for further investigation and assessments!

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

(Am back, btw!)

So...when? They'd better bump you up the list in recognition of the hassle you've had to go through, and, more importantly, the pressing matter of the Statement and school placement (where you up to with that?)

But WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for this anyway!

magso · 06/04/2008 09:22

Gosh Bonkerz, you are having to fight every inch of the way! Well done at getting the 'experts' to reassess! I think it is the kids with most complicated symptons(ie several things interacting) that get the worst deal! They dont quite fit classic dx 1 or dx 2 but have a most of both so no one wants to dx! Best of luck in getting common sense to prevail!!

bonkerz · 06/04/2008 09:28

Cahms know about our meeting next week (9th) with school and mentioned it in the letter! They have just said they will arrange appointment for ASAP once they have located another collegue!

I have sent the appeal off and they should have got it last week. I have only appealed to get enhanced funding, name of school changed (although havent named school BUT have specified it should have small class numbers and specialised teachers!) That should really f* them up cos it dont exist in Leicesthershire but SENDIST wont know that!!! And also asked all staff are trained in postivie handling!

well done bonkerz!

bonkerz · 08/04/2008 08:51

am panicking about this meeting tomorrow now.

OP posts:
dustystar · 08/04/2008 11:47

Thats great news about the response from CAMHS

Good luck with the meeting tomorrow

bonkerz · 08/04/2008 21:45

thanks dusty am just really nervous about whats going to be said although atleast i can now say that CAMHS are reassessing and that everyone will have a chance to have some input. Problem then starts if current MS agree DS needs to leave, im hoping they will still agree to meet with CAMHS and be involved in supplying evidence and opinions of DS.
