Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread as I couldn't comment on the previous one.

I called this morning to see if I had time to send in more info and they are saying it will likely take another 4 weeks for our claim to be looked at. We are the 12th June if this helps anyone.

I'm june so hopefully hear something in the next couple of weeks. 🤞

To anyone who gets DLA and also UC. How long did it take them to make your back payment ? I let UC know about the DLA on 15 August and requested backpay for Carers element and Disabled child element. On 2 September I received 2 seperate letters on my journal confirming the back payments for both elements would be paid. since then i've contacted them twice about when i'm likely to receive the money, both times i've been given dates i will know by and then i hear nothing. One response even said they would have to check if i was entitled to the back pay despite me telling them the letters were there on my journal.

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 09/10/2023 17:27

I recieved a letter to say I qualified about 3 weeks after requesting and then another 1 week or so before I got my letters to say how much I was owed and when it would be paid... they must have a big backlog if they are taking this long for yours that's ridiculous

Congrats congrats well deserved. How do you know decision. Was made today? I’m 13/06. Been with DM since Tuesday. Do you know how long your claim was with DM?

candywoo · 13/10/2023 11:36

@zoeybrooks45 thanks. I called Tuesday and they said it was sent to a DM. Called today and the lady said it was done this morning and told me rates. Maybe your childs is done now too 🤞

Jemimabrock · 20/10/2023 09:13

Just been back dated !!! I’m so happy ! She’s the highest rate !

Komahr · 20/10/2023 13:18

Hi, I send claim for my daughter on 11th, when it's delivered should I recived some confirmation email or text?
I've proof of posting but without tracking

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 20/10/2023 13:51

Congrats jem!!! And you should recieve a letter stating they recieved your application but can take a few weeks so I'd call and make sure they recieved it and scanned it xx

Jemimabrock · 20/10/2023 15:25

Thank you! Don’t suppose you know when I receive the letter stating how much I get and on what date now I’ve received the back dated money? X

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 20/10/2023 16:19

@Jemimabrock my eldest was approved the start of the year, I recieved a letter with rates on about 2 weeks later. But I called and asked for rates over the phone so I could update UC. Did you see the backdate in your bank this morning? Or did you call and find out? Xxx

Howgoesthework · 20/10/2023 19:11

I didn’t get any letter confirming that they received the application until after I called them, but I think that was coincidence. They sent the letter just less than a month after I sent the application in. I’d try calling them a couple of weeks after you sent it to check it’s been received.

Jemimabrock · 20/10/2023 22:18

Ok thank you! I’ve worked out from what I was paid that she is the highest rate! I’ve also just updated UC. I’ve been trying to research but apparently you get more UC if your child receives either middle or high rate DLA? Don’t suppose you know how much?

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 21/10/2023 00:11

@Jemimabrock I'm sure it's £146ish for MRC (middle rate) and around £450ish extra for HRC (High rate) something like that so you get quite a lot considerably more for hrc on UC xxx

Yes you will get the disabled child element and you can also get the carer element but that depends if you are working and how many hours I think.

OP posts:
JimnJoyce · 21/10/2023 14:26

be aware that once you've let UC know it can still take forever to sort child disability element and carer element out. I informed UC on 15 August, got letters on 2 Sept saying I am entitled to backpay then nothing. They just keep saying once it's calculated I'll receive the money.

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 21/10/2023 15:02

@JimnJoyce have you asked for a update under the payment section or work coach? I've seen people say to do it under work coach as well and they are receiving backpay quickly, although start of the year when my daughter was accepted for dla they took forever to sort my uc backpay they said because I'm on pip myself I don't actually have a work coach so any messages I put on my uc journal get put into the middle of nowhere so it doesn't get seen 🙄 how ridiculous! Lol x
