How obvious is your DCs ASD/AS to others ?

Bit of a strange question, sorry if inappropriate.

DS (4.3) is going through assessments at the CDC - I have bored you all with this previously.

I have suspected ASD/AS since he was very small.

Friends and family members are convinced there is nothing to be diagnosed.

I am beginning to wonder if I have made a big song and dance over typical little boy behaviour.

He seems to be improving/changing, but surely children with ASD/AS change as they grow up, don't they ?

Would your DC's Autism/Aspergers be obvious to friends, aquaintances, strangers even ?

If so, in what way ?

I am aware that the autistic spectrum is vast so it's a bit of a daft question, but I suppose I am asking if it is possible for a child to have ASD/AS and for it not to 'show' ?

Give me sleep i just read your long post on pg 1 and as much as it has put me on a downer i am grateful you did it. I was starting to doubt my suspicions about DS and was worried i was going to look an idiot after assessment. Unfortunately my doubts have now shot away as DS ticks just about every point there was
He starts school in 5 weeks and i'm dreading that thought that he will stick out like a sore thumb, anyone got a cotton wool suit i can borrow, just for a little while?

Give me sleep. I found your post really helpful. DS is being assessed by an Ed Psych on Friday. I am very confused myself as to whether DS is or isnt ASD and swing both ways all the time. One particular thing was the question about holidays. DS also would never ask anyone such a question as that. If holidays were mentioned he would just talk about his own holiday. Lots of other stuff that sounds familiar also. Thank you for taking the time to type that post.
