So my son has just had his dla granted today.
As I'm on universal credit I've been advised to do my change of circumstances with them to get the disabled/child element of them has anyone been successful in having that backdated?
Also I currently have to pay bedroom tax as they say my sons can share a room although they can't due to my youngest needs can I get that overturned? And would that be universal credit I take that up with?

Thank you polly I haven't heard anything back yet but hopefully will soon,I probably won't but I will fight it as I did contact them but if not going forward hope it all gets done now thank you for your advise and help xx

@Luckymummy83 I didn’t have to upload anything I just did the change of circumstances then they verified that my daughter was on dla so the extra element was added. Then I left a message in journal asking if a decision marker would look into backdating the amount as notified then as soon as I was aware of the change.

They must have contacted DLA in background and verified it on there system as I didn’t upload any pictures. Good luck I do hope they add it going forward for you.

@Luckymummy83 yes you need to ask for a mandatory reconsideration and explain.. it takes a while to get a decision but they may award the backdating under special circumstances

Thank you tammy we've been through alot as well as me caring and doing everything for everyone else I have my own struggles I was sexually abused as a little girl and been getting flash backs just shut myself off never spoke about it as feel so messed up with it all just want this year to be a better one for me and my children that's all I want is to be happy again for them but I've pushed my struggled aside as my children come first but it has had a massive effect on my mental health but I'm definitely going to speak to a professional this year x

Do I wait for them to get bk to me first to see if they wild add the element x
