Will you sign my petition to the PM to ask for manual handling training for parents?

It has long been a bug bear of mine that whilst everyone (and his wife!) gets trained how to safely lift, shift and carry our disabled children, clearly the health of our (the parents!) backs matters not.. which is why almost everyone I know in the SN world (or those or have to lift and carry their children like we do DS!) has a bad back, at least to some degree.

I am asking the PM to make provision for us parents to have manual handling training as WE are the ones who have to carry our children more than anyone else.

Please sign.. and PLEASE pass the link on to others who may want to sign too. This is one the really important oversights going on in the world of SN parents.

Davros - do you know if the T-T course covers the physical aspects of lifting, as well as de-escalation etc.?

Yes, I believe it does very much so. I found an accredited local trainer who would do it direct for less £££ but I haven't followed it up
