Anyone else waiting for DLA

Form sent Friday 5th Oct. Text to say it's been received sent on 12th Oct. Waiting game now.

I'm claiming for 4yo DS who has ASD. He has speech delay, is still in nappies and no sense of danger whatsoever (!)

Hoping for MRC, as that and Carers Allowance would make an enormous difference to our quality of life - I can't work because of him and I also have a baby.

Just sent ours on Saturday. No text yet.

wizzywig · 19/10/2018 12:54

Good luck you two.

legodisasterzone · 19/10/2018 13:19

Renewal received 24 September -waiting for the post daily and trying not to stress about it.

malmontar · 19/10/2018 13:41

Thanks. We have developmental language disorder. Pretty severe and she’s 10 so trying to get middle care component to fund private SALT and carers allowance.

Hope things run smoothly for all.

survivalmode · 19/10/2018 14:50

Theoretically I should get middle rate, if I look at similar cases. But I'm not really expecting it purely on that basis. It really would change our lives if we did though.

Mine is a renewal but had a text 24th September... said can take 8 weeks... sitting with bated breath as I’m currently receiving carers allowance and high rate care low rate mobility and depend on the money. I’m a LP with no help and no idea how I will cope if they change or remove it Sad also have son with asd.

hargreeves · 19/10/2018 18:30

I have MRC and just got approved for carers allowance for my son with ASD. They told me that I have to wait over a month to receive any money and regular payments won't start until December. So unhelpful Confused.

Ilmb · 19/10/2018 18:44

Annoying hargreeves I know. At least they back date it..

survivalmode · 19/10/2018 18:46

I don't mind waiting, we can eat and pay the bills ok. But there's nothing left over. It'd be good to be able to get some private speech therapy for DS.

Payment in the bank this morning. Pretty sure we've been awarded mid rate care.

That was quick! Good news!

malmontar · 23/10/2018 13:38

wow thats super quick!. We havent even had a text message yet, just on the phone to them now.

malmontar · 23/10/2018 13:51

just got off the phone with them... they said they received it on the 19th and it can take anywhere up to 8 weeks from here. Acknowledgement letter in the post apparently.

Ilmb · 23/10/2018 14:31

mal is yours a renewal or a new claim?

malmontar · 23/10/2018 14:34

New claim.

legodisasterzone · 02/11/2018 13:53

I had to ring about something else today and was informed that renewals are taking up to 11 weeks. Ours has been in for 5 weeks now.

malmontar · 02/11/2018 14:29

Oh wow, that’s ages. Sorry to hear, I hope yours gets processed quicker than that. We’re in london so I’m not holding my breath, I don’t know if it’s by region but anything here takes way longer than normal.

malmontar · 06/11/2018 14:56

We've just had ours in the bank. Calculating from the 19th (when they said they received the form) its 3 weeks and we received £324.75 so £108.25 per week which by my calculation is HRC and LRM.

Waiting for the letter but I was shaking doing my calculations. So so relieved. Im hoping all of yours will be in the bank asap.

survivalmode · 06/11/2018 16:21

I'm so pleased for you @malmontar - my Carers Allowance came in last week too. I've booked private speech therapy for my DS and I'm feeling hopeful again.

My son is on high rate mobility and middle rate care. I sent off the renewal paperwork yesterday morning. We are hoping to use the money to help him develop his independence in the bathroom and pay for his special equipment.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 14/11/2018 07:23

I sent my form in December 2017...finally had tribunal yesterday which awarded middle rate care and low rate mobility.

danni0509 · 14/11/2018 09:58

Sent renewal 1st October, 6 and a half weeks now still not heard, I phoned yesterday and was told it won't be looked at until December at the earliest Hmm

malmontar · 14/11/2018 11:11

Wow! That’s so crazy. It seems renewals aren’t their strength. Do you still get payments whilst you wait or do they stop them and than do a back payment?

Howdoyoudoit31 · 14/11/2018 11:54

My renewal took 11 weeks! HRC & HRM for my ASD 5 year old son.

@malmontar - they keep paying you while they do the renewal. If your awarded a higher rate you get a payment of the difference.

danni0509 · 25/11/2018 12:48

Sorry forgot to update this. My ds renewal took 7 weeks. Was due to run out January 2019.

Renewal sent 1st Oct,
scanned on system 3rd Oct,
decision made 19th November.

Award given for 7 years this time & mobility added too thankfully.
