They have a cancellation, so ds2 is going in for his first botox on the 8th march. Pre op assessment on monday. Now i am getting all emotional about it, which is so unlike me.

But with the poss bankruptcy and exh being no help, my bf emigrating and the 8th march also being the anniversary of my mother dying, i feel stressed, so it's gonna be tough.

Four weeks of intensive physio as well , afterwards. Poor little mite.

And a slim chance of it working. But any chance is a chance yes?

lou you really have a lot on your plate atm. Do you have any friends/relatives nearby to give you support?

Really hope it does well for ds2 xxx

thank you everyone

sorry i had to log off, i had to call ds2's school wrt the op, my bf came to cheer me up, we ran errands, collected the kids then had to fix dinner

i wont know everything until monday, but i am trying to put childcare in place in case he needs to stay in.

i explained to him he was going to see the docs about his op, and my bf reassured him he would be ok too ( he had steroids injected into his spine recently) as he has had similar jabs, and ds seemed to be reassured

i think its worse for the parent, tho worse for him afterwards

apart from the fact that the consultant wasnt told i had an appointment with him today, it went well enough

he said ds will be first on the list on thursday, so will go down about 8.45, and if everything goes to plan then he should be able to go home in the afternoon.

no school til monday but after that he should be ok

it takes about a week before we may notice any visible effects from the botox, and he will see him again 8-10 weeks later , to decide if it is worth him having a second course

2 injections of botox in the hamstrings on both legs

ds2 was very patient, we were an hour late going in to see the consultant, but not one complaint from him

so all i need to do is sort childcare for my middle 2 on weds night

Hi Lou. My ds has had botox done under general anaesthetic (5 months ago), so hopefully it will reassure you to know that it was absolutely fine in every way! On the day of the op, there were 3 other children for the same reason in the ward, and they all came round from the anaesthetic so well, and within half and hour, all of them were drinking, and eating toast. My ds went home a few hours after the op, like nothing had happened!

If you would like to know any more, then please do ask. If not, then hope all goes well, I do think the thought of it all, and the not knowing, is far worse than the day itself.

lou33 · 05/03/2007 21:01

oh thank you , that is what i am hoping for

he has had a general before, and was fine

he is quite excited by it all, lol

OP posts:
twoisplenty · 05/03/2007 21:11

Yes, my ds too gets excited because of the huge toyroom in the ward, oh, and the day off school!!

A few hours after the botox he felt a bit sore at the injection site, but after calpol given just once, he was fine, and after that it was as if nothing had ever happened.
