Autism- Children's favourite colours

I was doing a bit of research on colours after watching the Autistic Gardener and found a bit of research on Children's favourite colours on Autism.
My little one's favourite colour is RED and he has moderate to high autism.
I just wondered if the colour Red was a familiar colour for Children to choose on the autistic spectrum or weather it has no meaning at all?

My son loves purple

DS1 loves everything orange. DS2 doesn't have such strong preferences, but seems to be drawn to bright greens and yellows. Being a younger brother, he wears a lot of orange, anyhow :o

My DS loves red. He has probably moderate-high autism too.

My DS went through a stage of only wearing red - trousers, t-shirt, jumper, underwear, socks - everything. Now it's a particular shade of blue!

ari11 · 23/07/2015 13:26

black or rainbow :)

frazzledbutcalm · 23/07/2015 16:05

ari .. dd loves rainbow! She has a rainbow projector light thingy in her room. She loves it.

Frazzle..sounds fab, what a great idea! I think I may get one as we are in the process of redecorating ds's room.

MilkshakeMonkey · 24/07/2015 08:45

Red!

Orange and red :)

OneInEight · 24/07/2015 10:15

Another vote for orange here! ds1 had a particularly lovely outfit of orange t-shirt and rusty-orange trousers he loved to wear! it was hideous but at least I couldn't lose him .

Glittery7 · 24/07/2015 10:38

Green. DD will wear the same green t shirt every single day (and for bed) if I let her. I hide it at the bottom of the laundry basket and she searches for it. She's attracted to many green things.

EeyorePigletAndPoohToo · 24/07/2015 11:12

Red. Red is DS's 'safe' colour. If he's near red things - and ideally wearing red clothes - then he's much more likely to feel safe and be calm.

ShadyMyLady · 24/07/2015 13:43

My DD loves yellow
