Yes. Interestingly they found that parents of children with SEN were predominately 'pioneers' which meant open-minded, adaptable to change, outcome-focused and cared very little what others thought of them. They also understand and appreciate good value.
I wonder if that is how they develop as a result of their experiences? I think it highly unlikely that being that way predisposes them to have a child with a disability.
They report that the fact parents are 'pioneers' is good news for implementing changes, especially positive changes, even if they cost less ultimately. They also report that out of these parents, only 4% listen to anything the SEN Team has to say.
Which can only mean one thing really. Sack the SEN team and let the parents run the department. That should be the conclusion ultimately.
