A morning in A+E with Mini Hazey and a sprained ankle.

Ds fell this morning, and was reluctant to stand on his foot afterwards, I put an ice pack on it, and put him in the buggy for the school run. When we got home he wouldn't stand on it. I left the room to get a drink and heard him crying, when I came back in he had tried to get off the sofa and had collapsed on the floor.

I took him to A+E and waited for an age, dr deemed an xray unnecessary and said it was a sprain, try to keep him off it and give him regular ibuprofen. She tried to put some tubular grippy bandage on (ha ha ha ha - like trying to get a sock on a squid tentacle - ds was having none of it)) and we came home.

Poor ds is curled up asleep on my lap, I felt like a bit of a tit with this dr, because, you know it's 'just a sprain'. But it is so hard when your little boy can't tell you if it hurts, in fact because of his wonky pain receptors he can't seem to work out why he can't stand on it, and he forgets that he can't stand on it, so every time he tries to get up he falls over.

Feeling very crappy after a loooong morning.

Well done for getting the appt will they xray mini hazey ?

hazeyjane · 25/03/2014 14:12

physio thinks they should, she was going to be there this afternoon and asked us to come up, but I can't find anyone to pick up the girls, so we'll go tomorrow - physio have given them some background on ds, so hopefully they will be thorough.

I've been trying to film him hobbling down the hall (he probably won't walk at all when we get there) but he spots me filming and starts doing a funny wonky dance. Monkey!

Hi hazey , sounds like your poor boy been have bit rotten time , at least physio been helpful , so how the appointment go , did the X-ray show anything , they can review them straight away . Othro should have been able to give you answers , whilst you where there.
Has the croup improved any , it's horrid when there going though this .

Hello

Orthopaedics were lovely, he really did think it was 'just' soft tissue damage, no xray - I think because ds has been xrayed so many times already. Ds wouldn't walk (became a limpet) but I had managed to video the wonky walk, and he could see why we were concerned, he has called us back in in 2 weeks, to see where he is at then.

Croupy cough has gone, to be replaced by liquid in the upper airways, so gp has upped his drooling meds, and I am being a bit more vigorous with the chest physio.

But ds is pretty happy today, and was charming all the old ladies on the bus so I think he is on the mend.

Not so lovely today, screeching and signing stuff I can't understand - a frustrating day. Sorry to moan.
