At breakfast this morning me and DS were discussing things that we have in common (both have AS) and we said we should open a shop for AS/ASD people.
DS said in the shop would be :
No queing
No mithering - ie "are you ok, do you need any help"
The air conditioning would be on in the winter as we both like to be cold
There would be lots of spongebob things
There would be lots of Lego things
There would be lots of Simpson things
There would be lots of Thomas the Tank engine for the littler ASD people.
There would be no bangs or loud noises
There would be no smells
Burgers would be served plain with no relish or onions
There would be clocks everywhere
There would not be too much choice.
I thought this was brill, it was him using his imagination with a little help from me, ok his imagination revolves around Sponge bob/simpsons and food and times but hey its wonderful to get a conversation going that doesnt involve anything too obsessional.
Now we dont have any customers yet, so would anyone be interested in our shop?

this is the best thread I've read for ages & LOL at so many of the similar things my DS would want. Also for him a super hero area with all the usual suspects in abundance!

octavia · 24/07/2006 22:36

counting ... fantastic! he'll be in 7th heaven as a final request could there be a corner with infomation of all the footballers in the world, stating when, where &why they recieved yellow/red cards, previous/present clubs they played for etc etc

stapo1 · 24/07/2006 23:04

Please could you add an isle with glass windows for licking & smearing & keep all teh cupbaord doors unlocked so that they can be opened & closed

misdee · 24/07/2006 23:07

yes to licking. please.

nikkie · 24/07/2006 23:38

timetables to memorise!

onlyjoking9329 · 24/07/2006 23:55

there would have to be a train corner, with timetables and stuff, and can we have a clothing bit where you can buy dora the explorer pants in age 12, also pj's in same size, trampolines would be nice with no queing or time limits.

macwoozy · 25/07/2006 10:31

Great thread

Could I be so bold as to ask for an abundance of signs displayed everywhere within the shop with pictures to explain their meaning, but not for any signs to be placed on the doors and windows before we enter the shop due to the time it takes to have to explain what every sign means, come to think of it would it be so cheeky to ask if you could provide a button that could be pressed next to each sign that would explain what they all mean, so mum here doesn't have to go through each one over and over again.

Other than that I think you have all things covered and I'll be looking forward to visiting your shop, better be reasonably priced though!

Lots of wheres Wally books too!

sphil · 25/07/2006 22:37

Lots of rugs on the floor so that DS2 can kick the corners up and down....and up and down....
A total ban on crying babies.
A video of 'Finding Nemo' playing on a huge screen - or failing that 101 Dalmations.
A Brucie the Shark or Cruella De Ville lookalike serving customers.
An absolute ban on asking DS2 questions. However, all singing will be welcomed.

jenk1 · 26/07/2006 11:20

We are also selling at DS request:
Jam with no bits
Chicken soup with no pieces of chicken(thats me )
Anaemic toast (toast thats just warm and no brown on it)
clothes with no labels in
and
wandering round in your duds, boxers etc is absolutely fine even in winter.

ACE thread, Jenk!

The Woo is non-verbal, but I know she would ask for:

  • teething rings in fruit flavours
  • special cheap bags of crisps; not for eating, just for squishing (unopened) until the contents are powder, and then throwing away
  • space blankets, to scrumple
  • an assortment of electric fans that you can stand in front of with your eyes shut and tounge out, like a dog hanging out of a car window
  • non-toxic and not-even-making-you-feel-ill-or-do-bad-nappies shampoo, for drinking
  • a big pile of all the labels cut out of clothes by jenk1's DS
  • special shatterproof glass windows to withstand the happy SCREAMING in your lovely shop
deeeja · 27/09/2007 11:05

Sorry, I know this is an old thread, but I absolutely love it, it made me cry with laughter!
My ds would absolutely love it there!

ladygrinningsoul · 27/09/2007 13:09

What a great thread! I know DS would like a corner for machines with lots of gears - not too noisy though.

pagwatch · 27/09/2007 13:35

ah - my son already has his shop. It is called HMV ( "good looking and then put it back").
DH used to speculate that one day DS could work there until we realised that whilst all DVDs would be perfectly aligned, no one would actually be allowed to remove any - except him. And of course they would not be arranged by alphabet, but by highly complicated system of his own design

coppertop · 27/09/2007 22:35

Was this really a year ago? It's all still as relevant now as it was back then.

alison222 · 28/09/2007 19:14

Love this thread but we would have to request a Dr Who section for those young ones to old for Thomas. Oh and we would be buying the "no bits" jam.
as an aside can you seive the seeds out when you make jam - is there a way?

PersonalClown · 28/09/2007 19:23

Mirrors for ds, doors to be opened/closed ad nauseum and Pixar cars so Ds can act out the entire film!!
I also ask for the Doctor Who section with large daleks with buttons to press to make them say Exterminate!

TotalChaos · 28/09/2007 20:44

Lots of Dora the Explorer and Charlie and Lola
Oasis (drink)
Lots of huge puddles to splash in
Slide

honeybrown · 29/09/2007 20:42

A fabulous heartwarming thread - can I add a sorting corner (with colour, shape and texture sections), a cog wall, akes (cakes), boxes to tightly fit a large variety of small objects into - oh and a working toilet just to flush anything colourful or important down!!

mum24boyz · 30/09/2007 07:32

what an absolutely fantastic way to start my day, have never seen this thread before and its had me in stitches, and i can relate to many of the requests for my ds3. are we up and running yet lol, and can i request somewhere to write letters and words(totally non significant words at that) and numbers, over and over and over again plz. sounds a great fun place to go, do you think you would actually ever sell anything though lol.
