Is everyone set for Christmas and what presents have you got for your SN child?

I still have food shopping and cleaning to do.

Ds has only asked for Pokémon cards this year. I have also got him a Nintendo and some games. However, if I get him something he hasn't asked for he doesn't want it! So fingers crossed.

Last year he asked for a yellow felt tip pen and was most disappointed to receive a full pack of felt pens and other presents too! Xmas Smile

So are you all set? What have you bought? and how will it be received on Christmas morning?

DS is a little obsessed with large brass instruments he'd like a tenor saxophone and a tuba. He's seen a few bands recently in the town near us and loves them. I've got him a saxophone from the ELC.

Have a good Christmas. x

Going shopping in a moment....

claw2 · 19/12/2013 09:33

The not liking surprises can be a bit awkward and makes him sound ungrateful when receiving presents from others, we have been working on replacing 'what did you get me that for' with 'thanks'!

Might get a guitar. Ds is spectacularly unimpressed with non-edible presents and will probably still have some left to open by Easter.

The guitar won't float his boat either but I'm certain he will fiddle with it nonetheless.

May as well get him a chopping board, some max factor foundation and some ladies knickers size 14 to unwrap.

claw2 · 19/12/2013 09:35

A noisy Christmas for you Chuckey! and you cant remove the batteries to make it stop!

Food shopping Star? or are you still buying gifts?

StarlightMcKingsThree · 19/12/2013 09:37

Gifts. I HATE shopping so put it off every year. The experience becomes worse but at least there is less choice and often things are in sale.

StarlightMcKingsThree · 19/12/2013 09:38

I did most of dd's online and the baby will get more than he needs just from family.

I won DH's in a raffle.

claw2 · 19/12/2013 09:49

LOL @ chopping board, max factor and knickers! You know what my ds would probably like the make up!

I did think about an ipad or a tablet of some kind for ds, but as you know he has no interest in them. He watches Youtube on a ipod, which was a hand down from his older brother.

Would your ds be interest in Pokémon cards Star? Ds will probably get lots of doubles, I can send them to you.

Ds doesn't actually play with them, he just likes all the numbers and info on the cards and the fact they are categorised into types etc. Ds orders them and lines them up.

I have cleaning the house and another food shop for fresh stuff to do.

Need to get on and wrap things today while DS is at school...not sure he will be in tomorrow as at the end of his tether already.

We are giving him Lego Lego and more Lego Smile FC will be delivering a Lego Big Ben model too as DS is mad about bulidings. Eldest DS has chosen a Lego wii game with him so as to eliminate the surprise element of his gift to his brother. I'm so proud as he has worked hard at his 3 cleaning jobs and is paying for it out of his own money this year Grin I am planning on giving him a piece of wrapping paper this weekend to get him used to the presents idea on Christmas Day and his gifts will be easy to recognize as keeping paper separate for each person.

FC Also giving him some little fossils as he loves his collection of stones etc and some fairy lights for his calm box.

ohdofeckorf · 19/12/2013 10:13

Glad you ladies are on form, I am only half way through christmas lists

It was going to be LEGO technics....again.

Came across LEGO minecraft (not advertising!) which Ds thinks is only in America, and of course santa doesn't exist, and we haven't been able to spend a week in America to go and get it because after all the cost of shipping to England would be huge Confused....we will be seeing a very flappy happy little boy christmas morning, can't wait Grin

JJXM · 19/12/2013 10:30

We've got DS a play kitchen with all the bits - he loves putting things in baskets and cupboards and so will be able to organise and rearrange to his heart's content Grin

stillstandingatthebusstop · 19/12/2013 10:47

Ooh good thread!

Another vote for Lego here. Ds3 has the presents he knows about upstairs in chest of drawers and he goes and looks at them every night. Lego and some little Thomas engines too (rare and quite expensive - but he doesn't want much).

I have the surprises (which include things he has asked for but hasn't seen) and some (more risky) things he doesn't know about including a watch in "lovely lime" green.

I need to start talking about wrapping paper with him to see what he wants.

We have to keep the Lego instruction manuals incase we need to rebuild them if they get broken (involving big meltdown obviously). The other week I was on Lego "pick a brick" on their website 39p for 3 blue caps to replace one that was lost and £4 postage. Xmas Grin

Totally disorganised here ds is getting a ps4 jointly with dp .dd2 is getting a little people Snow White House and a doll and a care accessories set that she calls teddy wash

mymatemax · 19/12/2013 11:44

we've got ds2 an ipad... he doesn't ask or have anything all year so hopefully he will be able to use if for games/school/communication.

Other than that he will get age appropriate toys from family that he is not remotely interested in that I will recycle & give to others next xmas. I must remember to keep the tags this yr so I don't send it to the sender IYKWIM

coppertop · 19/12/2013 12:24

Ds1 is a nightmare to buy things for. He still has his Christmas money left over from last year as he can't think of anything that he wants to spend it on. He's into programming so has agreed to accept his own Raspberry Pi kit this year. Xmas Grin

Ds2 is easier to buy for as he has several things he's interested in at the moment, including a long list of books he wants to read. He's finding Christmas very stressful this year, so I'm hoping he will have calmed down a bit by then.

Did someone say cleaning? I knew there was something I'd forgotten...Xmas Blush

Polter that board is brilliant

coppertop · 19/12/2013 12:39

Oooh! That chopping board looks like the sort of thing dh would love.

(makes a note of the details)

ouryve · 19/12/2013 12:41

We are being "those" parents and giving each of the boys their own tablets, this year. DS1 will also get a pile of books (a coin encyclopedia, annuals, some horrible history/science stuff DH picked up dirt cheap in the summer and a lego minifigure encyclopedia) plus odds and sods like a coin wallet, magnifying glass (so he can look at coins), fancy pants moulded chunky pen....

I've bought them new lunch bags (DS1 has almost chewed through his and DS2's is just plain grotty) and filled DS2's tree fu tom one with tree fu tom plastic tat. He also has annuals, a latches board, a big jar of plastic animals to replace all the ones his brother has chewed to bits and a pack of top trumps cards to scatter all over the place organise.

DS2 will probably rip things open, one at a time. DS1 will get through his pile in less than the time it's taken me to wrap one thing.

ouryve · 19/12/2013 12:48

That's a fab idea, Coppertop. You can get various kits to use with the Raspberry Pi, too, such as a CCTV kit, so he might be inspired to spend any Christmas money he gets on stuff like that.

And, note that, apart from one teeny tiny box picked up in a summer sale, we're having a lego free Christmas. Last year, DS1 gave us a list with over £400 worth of the stuff on.He ended up with about 1/3 of it, but it sure got it out of his system! He still loves lego, but the coins take up a lot more of his time, now.

Pinkglow · 19/12/2013 12:51

DS has only asked for a train from Thomas the Tank Engine so we have got him that and a few trucks to go with it. Also got him some books but then left it as that as experience tells us that getting him anything else would be a waste of money.

Also have an adult brother with ASD who is a nightmare to buy for but have got him some novels, if their rubbish he will soon let me know about it

Tambaboy · 19/12/2013 12:58

Housed cleaned. Presents for DS bought, we are getting him a Hexbugs set which he has been obsessing about for ages. No Lego this year, he's got tons of the stuff anyway...Food shopping still to do, I will probably do it online as I hate shopping.
