Is everyone set for Christmas and what presents have you got for your SN child?

I still have food shopping and cleaning to do.

Ds has only asked for Pokémon cards this year. I have also got him a Nintendo and some games. However, if I get him something he hasn't asked for he doesn't want it! So fingers crossed.

Last year he asked for a yellow felt tip pen and was most disappointed to receive a full pack of felt pens and other presents too! Xmas Smile

So are you all set? What have you bought? and how will it be received on Christmas morning?

Ah, now in our house we take turns opening so that I can scribble the thank you cards before ai forget who bought what the children can appreciate each gift and acknowledge the generosity of the person who got it for them.

StarlightMcKingsThree · 19/12/2013 13:06

Might have to get the chopping board after all though.....Grin

blueeyedmonster · 19/12/2013 13:08

I'm pretty much done for Christmas! Ds has asked for cars (surprise surprise), fiddle toys, Lego and police playmobil. Easy enough!

autumnsmum · 19/12/2013 13:24

Aha got ds horrible histories annual so he cN regale us with gruesome facts throughout Christmas day

kafkesque · 19/12/2013 13:49

I have got some neurotypical boys toys which he will eventually rediscover oneday and play with.... but I think the things he would really like are Teletubbies and cleaning things.

He is obsessed with both. I have a nice clean car! and areas of the house are spotless. Not only that- some of his sensory diet says to vacuum the house. A lot of his toys especially go cart are super clean as well as some of the earthworms and stones in the garden. He could do with a set of tea towels and bath sheets only for those purposes. He needs to know I don't like muddy tea towels and bath sheets. LOL

DS likes to wrap most of his toys and books and put them under the Christmas tree, so last January I bought up all the Sale wrapping paper as he wraps throught the year. Mobile phones, keys you name it. Tricky when you are trying to find something. He likes the unwrapping too when given gifts but couldn't less about what is inside unless it is a Thomas or teletubbie.

Bluerobinonmychristmastree · 19/12/2013 14:06

Sort of there.

A few more presents to get for various people and one last food shop not sure if I can face it.

Bluechick has a variety of toys and DVDs to add to the pile.

zzzzz - one reason we've bought a Nook HD for DS2 was because I'm sick of him using my iPad with one hand in his nappy! Just urgh!

We've got DS1 a flashy 10" Samsung jobby, but only because DH snaffled it for half price on Black Friday.

DD1 doesn't really 'want' anything, but she loves music so we've got an MP4 player for her. She's also getting a bedside lamp and a pirate pop-up game.

DD2 had a big list this year: Drum kit (over my dead body, she's never touched one before), 'heelies' (she's not the most steady thing), MP4 player, secret diary and a yo-yo.

She also showed great jealousy of DD1's watch, but when I suggested she may get one for Christmas she said 'but that's not one of the things I was hoping for!!!' She couldn't quite get the idea that she might get something that isn't on her list!

DD3 is getting MP4 player, yo-yo, piggy bank, etc.

I hate sharing, too, zzzzz. I originally bought the iPad to share (hence iPad and not Android because some of the apps I was interested in for DS2, at the time, were iOS only). He's become good enough at games to play ones available on any platform.

I always think "well bully for you" when, in the inevitable iPad for children threads, people wax lyrical about how they all take turns because who needs to have one to themselves all the time, anyway? Well me! I want to collect my clumsy ninja's chicken's eggs on the hour every hour, tyvm! (too honest?)

Last year ds (16) asked for a ruler... More specifically a ruler the same as his old one which broke Grin
This year he has asked for a new hat ( doesn't like the lettering on his current hat) and a book about the underground
I find myself hanging on to every little morsel of information that comes out of his mouth trying to get ideas for him .
Dd (10) who is nt presented me with a sizable list of her own Hmm and then managed to cleverly extract some others from him

homework · 19/12/2013 18:01

My teenager only asked for set beats headphones , the red ones . Rest of family are giving him I tunes vouchers to get games , music for his computer / iPad.( school supplied each child with one)
Getting him few bits of clothes and some smellies , sock and pants as stocking fillers . Also some Lindell chocolate , which not last past breakfast, he's very greedy with them.

hazeyjane · 19/12/2013 18:10

Always leave food shopping until the last minute and dh has yet to do his last minute dash around toys r us. I have baked half a ton of gluten free mince pies though!

Ds is getting a duplo pirate ship, a minion rucksack, a vibrating cushion, a big sensory ball and a fire engine tshirt.

He recognises and signs Father Christmas, which I am really excited about!!

ouryve · 19/12/2013 19:43

Clumsy Ninja:
itunes.apple.com/gb/app/clumsy-ninja/id561416817?mt=8

He has a pet chicken and a pet squirrel.

2boysnamedR · 19/12/2013 20:15

I have done all the shopping but nothing is wrapped, house is a tip. Finished work today (praise The Lord!) so will try to de-pig this tip.

The baby has lots of wooden sensory toys second hand from a nct sale.

Ds has a scooter ( please let that be ok with his dyspraxia) and hoping to buy him a leap pad with relatives money.

I did get him some ot type toys too..... Just what he wants (not)

Lucky he is ok with surprises as he doesn't know what say it is ( so every thing in life is a surprise for him I guess?)

2boysnamedR · 19/12/2013 20:16

I mean he doesn't know what day it is...

ouryve · 19/12/2013 20:30

A scooter is DS1's wheels of choice, 2boys. He's the boy who struggles to walk from one side of the room to the other without bumping into something, even if there's nothing to bump into!

nostoppingme · 19/12/2013 22:27

DS has a 'thing' about money, gets worried to spend money nor sees the point of buying. I donated to two charities the other day but had to keep it from him as it makes him go on one of his 'why do you spend money' modes .....

So, he doesn't care too much about presents! I got him beyblades and some sports equipment.

Strongecoffeeismydrug · 19/12/2013 22:35

Just got the food shopping and cleaning to doWink.
Ds is fine with suprizes but will only accept 4 presents then refuse anymore so we have to shop wisely Grin.
He will be getting a DVD player, Lego, books and an indoor trampoline.

OddFodd · 19/12/2013 22:43

DS has asked for 2 very specific Lego sets and a plush creeper (minecraft). So that's what he's getting.

I'm also making him a Lego table on wheels (inspired by someone on MN) as his 'big' present although he hasn't asked for it but I think he'll be really pleased with it

He's the easy one - the multiple shopping lists that me and my mum have in operation is proving way more complicated!

MariaNearlyChristmas · 19/12/2013 23:26

ASD makes Christmas much cheaper, I think Grin

Have most of the presents, but not done cards nor made the shopping for food list
